Chapter 15
Jimin kept tossing and turning on his bed, unable to sleep. The time was almost four in the morning yet his eyes stayed wide open, staring at the ceiling while the same thoughts kept occupying his mind.
He knew well that he had gotten involved in something that might not end well for him as the other times fortunately he had. It was strange how this situation had made him more anxious than the first time he broke the law.
However even back then and every time after, the only reason he did all the things he did was his family. Their economy was always in pieces and he was the head of the family. He had to provide for them in any way he could. He was merely a barman so of course coping up with a big debt that he had to pay off as well as the medication of his paralyzed father and the two kids that had needs, was never something easy to be done. But he had worked hard, stepped wherever it took to step in order to have his family not struggling.
However he struggled alone all along and his sister knew that well but he never wanted to show it because he was aware that she would feel guilty and sorry towards him. She had said that she is stealing his youth from him by being a burden to him. She had cried alone many times while putting her children to sleep and he knew it all. That was why he never regretting doing anything if it meant their smiles.
But this time around he seems that he had stepped in a situation that he would be better off without it. However running away was not an option because he was determined to take that money by fulfilling his part of the deal with Tae Yong and because he didn't want to let you die. You were a human after all so if he could save someone's life he definitely would do that. To not mention that you also seemed too innocent to him to deserve to be murdered.
He could see it in your eyes, the depression veiling behind your polite behavior. Your thin smiles and proper posture. The way you stayed quiet and mostly pretended to listen. He had also noticed that your relationship with TaeYong didn't seem as one of two newlyweds should have. And even though he knew what his feelings towards you were since he offered him this deal, he understood that you didn't care much for him either.
He should have been happy about that fact because it was something that would make his job easier but it had also put him in suspicions. Why would you marry someone you don't like. Now knowing about Choi Min Hee and your connection with her, he couldn't help but wonder if your reason of marrying TaeYong had something to do with her death as well.
From the moment he saw the date of her death earlier on the files namjoon showed him, he couldn't forget it because it reminded him of a date that he had seen while researching on the internet about you after the incident by the pool.
Two days after her death, in the news it was announced that you had a relationship with TaeYong as he was seen by a reporter getting out of a house where you were at. From that moment on he couldn't help thinking that maybe somehow all this was connected and it might lead to a bigger picture that he unfortunately was unable to discover, making him lose sleep.
"Screw this." He gave up eventually a bit frustrated that he couldn't figure it out and stood up from his bed, intending to go grab some water from the kitchen to calm himself and maybe help him sleep later.
He didn't bother to put on a shirt as he was sleeping top less as per usual, having on only his pajama pants then he proceeded down the corridor towards the kitchen, knowing that at this hour everyone must be asleep.
However as he reached on the kitchen's door, he noticed a light coming from upstairs that even though it was at a distance, because of the fact that everything else was dark, that light drew too much attention.
He ruffled his hair in wonder before getting into the kitchen and proceeded to do what he came there to do , however as he was about to leave, somehow his curiosity didn't let him return to his bedroom.
He left a breath escape his lips as he gave in to his thoughts, deciding to give a quick look to whatever it was.
Someone might have just forgotten a light on or something.
He stepped slowly up the stairs, making no noise as he didn't want to bother anyone at this hour then followed the light that leaded him to a door that he had seen you going in often.
He looked behind him for a moment before approaching more, soon standing right before the closed door in which he slowly reached for the handle and pushed it open, trying to make his movement as soundless as possible.
Once the door was some inches open, he was able to hear some muffled sounds coming from inside and he slowly picked inside only to be faced with a surprise.
You were gathered in a corner, between spilled black ink that had covered all the floor as well as your hands which were still dripping the color down your jeans that you were wearing, staining them.
He couldn't see your face but he understood that you were silently crying and at that moment Jimin froze not knowing what to do.
However his presence didn't pass unnoticed for long as he accidentally made a noise with the door in which he still had a hold onto and you looked up, presenting to him your red eyes and ruined make up.
Your eyes widened being obviously surprised by his presence however nothing could come out of your mouth as your mind was a mess. You had just turned back from the grave of your best friend which you found vandalized. The words written in it making you so mad and frustrated.
You wanted so badly to make whoever did this pay, however the frustration grew more as you didn't know who that was. You turned home full of anger as this definitely was unfair and disrespectful towards her and you closed yourself here, feeling miserable. Once again you couldn't protect her. Not even now that she was no more. You felt pathetic and without you ever realizing it, you took a turn for your usual hell.
It's been so long and you still hadn't took proper revenge for her. It has been so long yet you still hadn't found out who was that girl that together with TaeYong had send her to suicide. You had promised yourself to destroy them both. Make them pay. Yet you still had done nothing big. And somehow you hated yourself that you were losing time and started feeling guilty.
He was still a politician with a rising career and someone that Joyce the respect of others. Yes you had managed to trap him in an unhealthy marriage that if she was to break would cost him much in his reputation and economy, yes you had succeeded on chaining him with someone he didn't love so he would suffer for not being able to have happy moments with anyone he would ever fall in love. Your marriage had kept him away from whoever was that woman with which he destroyed your friend's life.
It wasn't that you had done nothing however somehow, seeing her grave destroyed made you feel so angry. Made you feel like it wasn't enough. And all you could do to vent those horrible feelings that were eating you alive, was destroy whatever happened to be before you, which was non other than that bucket full of black ink for painting, that had scattered all over the place, some splashes destroying the white canvases that were placed in a corner.
After that you had just started crying without paying any attention to your surroundings till that sudden noise drew your attention and brought you to this moment that your eyes were locked with Jimin's while he was still standing by the door, unmoved.
"I.. Am.. Please go." You left those words escape your lips as your mind fought to function normally again, you quickly getting up and turning your back on him while you tried to brush away your tears.
You didn't like anyone to see you weak much more someone you still didn't know much as he was. But to your displeasure he didn't left. You just heard the door closing and you assumed he left but as you turned around you found him before you.
Jimin just looked at you, before his lips tugged upwards slightly then he took two more steps closer.
"You made your face all black. You touched your skin with those hands while you forgot in what situation they were." He said making you look down on your hands, realizing that they were full of black ink.
"Oh my!" You exclaimed, now being sure that your face might be looking like an ugly panda.
"Don't worry. I will fix it." He said before taking hold of your wrist and pulling you with him out of the room and into your bedroom.
You followed silently because it was late and you definitely didn't want anyone else finding out about your condition.
He turned on the lights once inside then continued towards the bathroom where he left you on the doorstep while he entered and grabbed a towel putting it under the sink, wetting it well then he turned to face you.
"Just stay still." Was all he said and you obeyed, your mind having focused on something else as you had just taken notice of his exposed flesh.
He slowly started cleaning up your face with the towel and you somehow just stared at his eyes in an attempt to not look elsewhere and make this situation awkward.
And looking at his eyes might have not made it awkward but they didn't made you feel at ease either, as his gaze got fixed on you for a moment, making the atmosphere intense and as he lowered his eyes on your lips after a while, you felt the intensity running on your body.
The wet fabric of the towel soon brushed against your lips as he was staring at them intensively and then he smirked before looking at your eyes again.
"There. All cleaned up." His voice a low whisper that sounded seductive as if he did it intentionally.
"And next time miss, you don't have to go cry alone. Whenever you feel like you need something to make you feel happy you should come to me. I will do my best to pleasure you." His words very formal as a butler would speak to their master however the way he stated them left many things to be implied. Things that at that moment you didn't know how to read so you just stared at him in awe before muttering a soft 'thank you'.
Jimin smiled at your response, his face changing to a friendly and peaceful one in an instant and somehow that made you think of something completely stupid.
It made you think that he might be using some magic powers that only merman's have or something, otherwise it couldn't be explained the duality of his behavior and the difference between his facial expressions that impacted the atmosphere greatly.
"Sleep well Y/N" He told you as he approached towards the door and you made way for him to pass.
"Jimin." You called after him as he was approaching the door to exit your room and he turned around to face you. "Yes, Y/N?"
"Why are you awake at this late hour?" You questioned as that thought passed by your mind and without much filtering you had ended up asking about it.
"I couldn't sleep. I was thinking about you." Jimin replied simply, a wide smile reaching at his lips, making you smile too as you took it as a joke even though he had said nothing but the truth.
He left the room after that and you kept looking at the direction of the door while still smiling a bit. This night had turned out to be hell yet he had so simply managed to make it a bit better.
Thank you for making me smile merman. I guess having you around will turn to be a good thing.
You talked to yourself softly saying words that were meant for him to hear even though he was not there anymore.
