Chapter 7: What went Wrong
Tick, tock...
"Where could she be?"
Tick, tock...
"She's supposed to be home by now."
Tick, tock...
"I'm starting to get worried..."
Tick, tock...
10:30 PM.
The time of extreme anxiety and bother for you. It is past your bedtime but the woman is still not here. Worry running inside your body like sanity bailing on you.
You tossed and turned on your bed feeling restless and agitated. In fact, this is the first time you've felt these feelings for a long time, since the day that she was gone.
You kept glancing at the clock, checking every second that she was late. Even though you have your suspicions, you just can't help but to worry... And worry... And worry.
Meanwhile, as you tossed and turned on your bed that night, the woman, or so you know her, is facing a rather dangerous and suspicious task. The woman and the other hooded person stopped behind a concrete wall for cover.
"So how's it going?" The hooded person asked.
"Going good. I'm not caught yet so everything's fine~" the woman answered cheerfully.
"You think she's starting to doubt about this? I mean... You, Kano?" The hooded person asked her- or rather, him. They looked at him straight in the eye. In response, he chuckled mischievously.
"Of course she is, Kido~ She's not dumb. But... I always get what I want. And tiring myself from using my ability to the full extent is worth it," with that, he gave a smirk.
Their conversation was cut by a loud bang! on the building. Kido and Kano got theirselves ready and alert. They silently snuck inside the building, not attracting any life forms. As they got deeper inside, they heard a scream of a boy; screaming in pain and agony.
"...Hibiya!" Kido exclaimed in a whisper tone.
They walked inside and followed the dark corridor silently as they saw a ray of light peeping from a door. They could hear Hibiya's muffled screams inside. Kido and Kano surrounded both sides of the door and signalled each other to stay quiet. Hibiya's muffled screams are becoming more louder inside, as if someone is cutting his insides. Kano couldn't take it anymore. He kicked the door open and saw Hibiya tied on a table with his mouth gagged by a handkerchief. The two quickly rushed to his aid as Hibiya keeps on squirming around and shouting muffled words.
"Quit squirming, will ya?!" Kano exclaimed as he was untying Hibiya's rope on his wrists. But he still continued squirming. Out of frustration, Kido pulled the gag down from his mouth.
"It's a bait! This is a bait!! (F/n)-san! She's in trouble!" Hibiya shouted at the top of his lungs, worry and fear are obvious in his face. Kano and Kido gasped loud, while Kano had his eyes wide open and his hands are trembling gently.
"W-what do you mean...?" Kano asked in between breaths, disbelief in his tone.
"(F/n)!! (F/n)-san is to be held as hostage by that teacher!! I'm just a bait, Kano-kun! Go help her!" Agitation took over Hibiya. Kano quickly dashed outside the building without saying a word. Kido, on the other hand, helped Hibiya to escape the building.
Kano kept running...
Running...
And running to your house. His mind was blank. He couldn't think of anything other than saving you. His breathing grew heavier each second his speed is increasing. He finally reached your house, but your front door is already open. Frustration took over him as he ran to your room.
"(F/n)!!" But you were no where in sight. He looked desperately for you around the house. Calling your name each minute.
Minutes passed, hope is gradually abandoning him.
He sat lifelessly on the stairs, not knowing what to do. He buried his head on his knees, regretting the fact that he left you alone for a long time. His hands turns to fists, his breathing became more heavy as his eyebrows became narrow. He felt rage inside. Rage to the one who did this to you. With that, he left the house immediately and ran back to their hideout. He furiously opened the door and quietly scanned the whole room. His glances are sharp as a knife. His eyebrows got even narrower when he found who's he looking for.
"Oi. Who did this to you?" He asked nonchalantly as he gripped Hibiya's shirt. They all gasped in shock; surprised by the attitude that Kano had shown.
"…I-I didn't see his face..." Hibiya replied while squirming.
"What do you mean, you didn't see his face?! That's not possible!" Kano agitatedly said as he dropped Hibiya to the ground. Seto quickly came to his aid and helped him up.
"Oi, Kano! We didn't know what happened, alright? It just took Hibiya! And we didn't know that it was targeting (F/n)!" Seto retorted. In response, Kano clicked his tongue and left the place.
Kano kept walking. His shoes hitting the concrete ground, leaving an echo to the eerie street. He kept his head hang low while his hands on his pockets. He couldn't think of anything other than wondering where you are and who took you. He kept his fists into a ball as sweat trickled down from his face.
"I'm not going back until I find you, (F/n)," he said to no one in particular as he kept on walking the silent street.
Little did he know, there's something watching behind him. A rather, spooky eyes that contains horror and agony.
[Meanwhile]
"Ugh... What's happening...? Where am I? Why is it so dark...?" You thought.
"I see you're finally awake, (L/n)," A deep, creepy voice echoed in your ears.
"..." You tried to speak, but something seems to stop you from doing so. Nothing's coming out from your mouth. What's this??, you thought again.
"About that, I'm sorry (L/n). I disabled your voice for a while~ We wouldn't want anyone to hear you~ Especially some people," he creepily stated.
"W-what the hell?? How is this possible?!" You panicked inside your head as you try to break free from the shackles on your wrists.
"Escaping is pointless now. You can't even use your powers. Heh, how pathetic," the man snickered. "I'll leave you then. And let's hope you'll be the perfect bait," he added. You can hear footsteps and a loud banging of the door.
"H-how... What... Mom.. Save me..." Were your last words before hope abandoned you.
