Bigender Roman. I don't know much about this area of the trans/nonbinary community, so if I completely butchered it, let me know how I can improve it!!

Yes I was supposed to switch between Romans' pronouns the way I did. Sorry if I confuse you at any point.

Roman paced around his room, how could he have been so careless? He should have remembered Deceit was around, he should have remembered Deceit knew when people were lying. That was his thing! But Roman didn't know how they were supposed to deal with that! They didn't want to tell him how right he was, but they didn't want to keep lying, especially when Deceit was going to know!

"Roman, you know I can tell when you're lying, right?" Deceit reached out and placed a hand on his arm, causing his pacing to stop.

"What? Me? The honourable prince, lying? What other world are you from?" Roman's voice wavered, and he knew how ridiculous he sounded, but if the other's knew how long he'd been lying to them, they'd hate him.

They looked up at Deceit, who frowned slightly. "Roman, I'm Deceit, I lie, it's my job. I can tell when other people lie. Like when Logan tried to tell Patton how good those burnt cookies were, or when Virgil told you that you not returning his feelings was fine. I can read people like books when it comes to lying, and you, right now, are lying to yourself and to me."

Roman's eyes widened. He didn't say anything about them lying to the others. They didn't really like that Deceit could read him, or that he bought up when Virgil confessed to him months ago. He felt terrible telling Virgil he didn't feel the same... Truth was, he had his eyes on someone else.

"I just... I'm not lying..."

"Roman, stop it. Okay? I know you are, I know the signs and maybe you're trying to convince yourself, but you're not fooling me. What is going on?"

"I... They think I'm this amazing... Prince." He ran a hand through his hair.

"And you're not?"

"No. Well, yes. I... Not exactly?" He frowned, tugging at his sash, trying to get his words to come out right. "I am a prince, but I'm also... I am also a... Non-Binary Royalty..."

"Elaborate?"

"I'm bigender. I go by he and him pronouns, whilst also going by they and them. I don't mind most of the time! But sometimes it matters, and I don't like lying to them... Really... I didn't think I was, but I am... I'm a liar." He whispered.

"No, you're not a liar. You're closeted. It's different." Deceit reached forward and removed one of their hands from their sash and pulled them closer. "And you know what?"

"What?" Roman looked up at him, tears gathering in their eyes.

"I appreciate you trusting me enough to tell me that. I'm so proud of you, and maybe one day, we can go and talk to the others, and you will feel more confident."

"Yeah..." They leaned into Deceit's chest, relaxing as he wrapped an arm around them. "De?"

"Yes, Roman?"

"I like you... A lot. When Virgil told me..."

"I know. I like you too, a lot." Deceit smiled and cupped their cheek, glancing at their lips.

"Can I?" Roman murmured, letting Deceit close the gap between them.

They stayed like that for a while, sharing soft kisses and Deceit sharing words of reassurance for his lover. Things would work themselves out, Roman knew that, and with Deceit by their side, he felt more confident than ever.
