Heart Wants What It Wants
Author's POV:
Taehyung pushed open the door to the throne room, immediately catching the attention of everyone present inside.
“Jimin!” Namjoon’s face lit up as he descended the throne upon noticing another boy walking behind his son.
Jimin gave a small smile and bowed in respect. Namjoon patted his back and laughed.
“No need for that anymore child, you have done a great favour for us all” Namjoon smiled genuinely at the servant boy whilst Taehyung watched on, happy to see his bestfriend finally gain some well deserved respect.
“It is my duty” Jimin smiled back genuinely. Initially he hated the King for this blasted plan but now he understood that if he didn't make that plan, their kingdom would look different than the current state it's in. Jimin definitely didn't want it to turn into Kookmin 2.0 so his resolve only strengthened.
Suddenly Namjoon was shoved aside and Jimin's eyes met King Seokjin's worried one. Jimin frowned when he touched his cheeks and scanned his whole body.
“What's the problem papa?” Taehyung came near, checking Jimin like his papa with a questioning expression.
“What's wrong Jinnie?” Namjoon joined in too, all of them scanning Jimin.
“He's okay! I thought they'd harm him” Jin exclaimed with a relieving sigh.
Jimin giggled at their worry, immediately met with their incredulous eyes so he bowed a little.
“Sorry, it is something new for me to have the royal family worry over me” Jimin explained himself.
“My son could have been in your place, I would have worried about him just the same. Besides I never agreed to this kamikaze plan” Jin glared at Namjoon at the end.
“I understand” Jimin nodded, “ but rest assured, they're not as bad as we think them to be. Some are genuinely nice people” Jimin wanted to pitch in his husband's name too but thought better of it when he remembered this morning's fiasco.
“That's good to hear” both Jin and Taehyung commented.
“Let's go discuss our further actions” Namjoon gestured towards the door leading to his office.
“Sure your Majesty” Jimin nodded.
“Take care of yourself child” Jin patted Jimin's hair with a worried smile. Jimin smiled back, knowing that's the closest thing he's had to parental love.
“Thank you your Majesty” Jimin bowed a little and Jin ruffled his hair and walked away to attend to his duties.
Taehyung and Jimin then followed Namjoon’s footsteps, headed to the royal office.
“What progress have you done so far?” Namjoon asked as he placed his chin on his fisted hand as he glanced at Taehyung and Jimin sitting in front of him. In between them stood his huge mahogany desk. He himself sat at his huge ornate chair.
“A lot. I didn't expect to be made public relations officer” Jimin stated the most important thing first.
“I didn't think they'd trust you enough” Namjoon's eyes widened.
“I thought so too, but apparently that decision was made by the Commander” Jimin said.
“Your husband?” Namjoon asked, surprised by the trust that young man showed despite his rumoured personality.
Jimin could only nod.
“Wow, he trusts you” Taehyung chimed in and Namjoon nodded at the advantageous discovery.
“He also taught me strategy, his own format” Jimin said and Namjoon physically recoiled in his seat, utterly shook.
“That's impossible. He can't teach you that so soon” Namjoon stated firmly. Having enough experience with these sort of things, he firmly believed it was too good to be true.
“He did, I acted oblivious to anything office related and he simply taught me everything” Jimin left out all the flirty coaxing and that steamy kiss.
The king definitely didn't need to hear about his first kiss, but that's something Taehyung would love to hear. Which Jimin will do after they're done talking to the king.
“Sounds too good to be true” he shook his head, “he is probably testing you with fake format”.
Jimin's mouth opened and closed, trying to refute the allegation but he knew he didn't have a counter argument. After all he really didn't know much about Jungkook. This very well might be what Namjoon assumed it to be.
Jimin was still disappointed because deep down he wanted Jungkook's trust. Not to betray him ㅡ it is something he doesn't have any control over ㅡ but to simply have that trust embedded in him by his spouse.
“So what do I do now?” Jimin asked.
“Simply play your role without further investigating anything. I'll tell you when to start again. If we do something now, he'll catch on quickly that you were the mole” Namjoon said and Jimin nodded in understanding.
“Also keep up your visits, make them scarce to avoid any suspicion” Jimin nodded again at Namjoon's words.
“Can I go visit him too?” Taehyung asked, having an ulterior motive to it and Jimin gave a tight lipped smile at his request.
“I don't think that would be allowed by them” Namjoon frowned at his son.
“I could probably convince Jungkook” Jimin offered, having pity over his forlorn friend and the future King of Taniland.
“It wouldn't be ideal” Namjoon was still hesitant.
“Appa, I haven't been crowned yet so my presence wouldn't be a threat. Moreover, I really miss Jimin around” Taehyung puffed his chubby cheeks, knowing well his appa can't resist it.
Taehyung's coronation had been postponed since Namjoon wanted to orchestrate the plan he set into motion by sending the servant boy in the unfriendly territory. If anything goes wrong, he didn't want his son to suffer the consequences.
Sadly if it actually goes wrong, Namjoon wouldn't be the only one to suffer the consequences, the whole kingdom would have to suffer.
“Alright, try it. If he doesn't allow, don't try again” Taehyung immediately light up at Namjoon's words.
Having discussed few more things, Jimin and Taehyung left the King's office.

At Jeon Castle:
Jungkook lit up his cigarette and filled his lungs with the burning smoke. Pulling the cancerous stick out by placing it in between his fingers, he opened the files he retracted from his tiny husband's previous bedroom and blew out the smoke raising his head a little high.
Initially he was pissed at the prospect of a high ranking official leaving his territory, having the possibility of leaking important information. Kookmin land has had it's fair share of moles. Jungkook wasn't about to let the possibility harbour with his husband. What made his husband even more doubtful was the fact that he was from the rival kingdom. Moreover, the truce was called by them and Jungkook knows the king wasn't stupid to request it if it wasn't beneficial for them.
What sparked the fire of doubt was Jimin's request to go back home. Jungkook hadn't anticipated it nor did he want to sanction it. Yet he allowed it because of the soft spot his young husband managed to burrow in his icelandish heart.
That's the reason he was currently investigating Jimin's files. Notes made personally by Jimin. He was screening them for anything suspicious. Jungkook knows he did a mistake by teaching his husband his ways of battling, but he wasn't concerned over it that much as he could always change up the format. His genius remained unmatched.
Inhaling and exhaling more of the cigarette, Jungkook skimmed through Jimin's writing. He absentmindedly complimented his writing, finding it pretty like it's owner. His eyes narrowed when he stumbled on the upper part of a page. He examined it closely and immediately smiled at the intricate designs made by his adorable and talented husband.
“He wasn't kidding when he said he wasn't interested in all this” Jungkook mused and put the cigarette back between his lips.
It took him nearly an hour when Jungkook was finally done with all the papers Jimin had in his old adjoined bedroom turned office. He didn't find a speck of suspicion. Jungkook sat back and lightened his fourth cigarette as he contemplated whether he should stay alert about his husband or act normally like he did before. Upon carefully deducing, he chose the stronger feeling and got up from his chair. He inhaled the last of the cigarette and extinguished it against the ash tray. Craning his head, he cracked it in both sides to release all the stress and stiffness.
He had never asked for this added stress, handling things with the military was more than enough. Suddenly, Jungkook found himself going back to his old mindset: this marriage was nothing but a nuisance.

Meanwhile:
“What?!” Jimin's cheeks burned more as Taehyung showed incredulity at his revelation.
“He kissed you?! And it wasn't just a peck?” Taehyung questioned.
Jimin nodded with a scarlet blush.
“How was it?” Taehyung asked with giddy enthusiasm. He had one person on mind with whom he wanted to experience this with.
“Heavenly” Jimin answered with dreamy eyes and immediately hid his face behind his chubby paws.
“Uwu Minnie, I'm proud of you” Taehyung hugged him, happy for his friend's experience.
“Wait, he'll want to go further right?” Taehyung asked as he halted himself from celebrating more.
“He said we don't have to do that right away” Jimin informed and Taehyung sighed in relief.
Both of them knew Jimin wasn't ready for such a big step, especially considering Jimin's false identity. Getting intimate with the enemy was dangerous but Jimin's job was literally just that, except his emotional state was going to get fucked over.
Along with his ass.
“At least he's considerate” Taehyung mused and Jimin nodded.
“Anywho, you have to help me with this” Taehyung pouted at Jimin, attacking him with his outworldly cuteness.
“Of course I'll ask if you could visit so you can unravel your mystery man” Jimin laughed and Taehyung jumped up and down in excitement.
“It's funny how he has got you so strung. Do you even know his name?” Jimin asked as he seated himself on the marble garden bench.
He had dragged Taehyung in one of the garden alcoves to reveal his secret.
“Only his last name: Min, and that he's the second in command while your husband gets to be his boss ” Taehyung rolled his eyes at the end and Jimin giggled.
“Actually, Jungkook isn't strict with him. They're friends. And I heard Jungkook calling your mystery man's name the other day” Jimin wiggled his eyebrows.
“Tell me!” Taehyung urged pulling Jimin's paws into his large hands.
Jimin made show of being coy and pulled his hands out of Taehyung's and got up. Taehyung followed suit.
“His name is…” Jimin let the suspense build up and smirked when he saw Taehyung's raised eyebrows and that eager puppy expression.
“I'm not telling you!” Jimin yelled as he set off into a sprint across the trimmed grass of the royal garden.
“Yah Minnie! Get back here” Taehyung chased after his rude friend who thought it's funny to play with his fragile heart like that.
He absofuckinglutely had to know his mystery man's name.
Jimin sadly forgot about Taehyung's endlessly long legs and shrieked when the prince caught up to him and made them fall and roll down.
“Okay you win” Jimin breathed out as sat up from the grass, few grass blades stuck in his hair.
“Tell me already” Taehyung tickled Jimin's narrow waist and Jimin crawled away from his friend.
“It's Yoongi! Min Yoongi” Jimin stated loudly and saw Taehyung melt into the ground.
Jimin crawled back towards Taehyung and lay next to him, both of them were now gazing up at bright blue sky.
“Yoongi, it's such a beautiful name” Taehyung whispered and Jimin hummed, despite thinking of another name that he thinks is beautiful.
“I really like him Jimin” Taehyung whispered again, his voice straining with strong emotions.
Jimin's heart ached for his friend and he prayed at the end of all this chaos, his friend wouldn't be heartbroken.
“I'll help you Tae, you will meet him again” Jimin promised despite knowing well that it could be disastrous.
But the heart wants what it wants.
