Discovery
Harry Potter walked into the graveyard in Godric's Hollow, and approached his parents graves. It was just after the war, and he still felt the weight of loss heavy on his shoulders. He sat on the ground by the graves and sighed.
"I did what you said; I beat him. He's gone." Harry looked off into the distance. "I hope that you are proud of me..."
After a few minutes of silence, Harry sighed again. Even though he knew it was impossible, he had hoped for some sort of reply. After he had seen them through the Resurrection Stone, he longed to see them again. He cursed himself for losing it and resolved to go back and search for it. Well, maybe...
He rose and just as he reached the gate, he turned around and walked back to the tombstone of Ignotus Peverell. He crouched before the weathered and worn stone slab and traced the faint carving. "The Deathly Hallows..." he murmured. As if on his command, the front of the tombstone opened like a hatch along what Harry had assumed was just a crack. The doors revealed a hollow space inside the stone, an old, worn book inside.
Cautiously, Harry removed it and the tombstone closed. Harry opened the first page and saw that the ink was faded but readable.
In looping handwriting, the name Ignotus Peverell was scrawled. Curious now, Harry flipped the next page and read the first entry. Staring in shock at his discovery, Harry marveled. It was remarkable really that the answers to so many of his questions were right here, under his nose. The grave had been important!
Harry took the journal and met Ginny outside the gate. Together, they apparated to the Burrow. Sitting with his friends, Harry began to read aloud. Finally, some answers...
