Into The Storm

(A/N: I am SO sorry about the wait, it seems like time just escapes from me nowadays. Ever since school started I've been to busy to even edit prewritten chapters. Like damn school what chu doin) ((Also also, I know this chapter's short and kinda shitty, but shit goes down next chapter soooo~)) WC: 1870

As Yoongi made his way to the front of the boat, he was yet again blindsided by his hair.

Startled by the sudden blindness, he stumbled to the side, running straight into the thin lifelines of the King Munmu. They strained against his weight, and Yoongi had to grasp onto them to prevent himself from going overboard into the choppy abyss.

He saw the way the thin ropes were close to snapping, and stumbled away as fast as he could from the edge. Luck really wasn't on his side that day, as he ended up ramming into Jaehwa.

The slender man let out a string of colorful curses, nearly dropping the ropes, hooks, and nets he was holding in a clumped mess. He turned and glared at the younger, the 6' 4" giant looking as if he wanted nothing more than to squash the Dreamer beneath his large rubber soles.

"Watch it kid,"

Jaehwa sneered, met with only frustrated grunts from the smaller as he struggled to move his raven fringe out of his sight

Understanding passed through the other, although he had a buzz-cut, he had seen Intak struggle with his mane before. Jaehwa was smart enough to keep his hair short, but Intak had refused to cut or even brush his hair. The youngest fisherman would tie back his hair into a hideous looking man-bun , or wear a bandanna and hat to keep it out of his face.

Intak would often steal from Jaehwa's bandanna collection, and get his ass kicked later.

"You can't see, can you?"

Yoongi tangled his hand into the raven strands, pulling them back and keeping his hand resting a top his head. He huffed indignantly, pouting as he stuck his nose up at the older.

"I can see perfectly fine, thank you very much,"

Jaehwa rose a single brow, he wasn't quite smart, but he wasn't dumb either. Especially when the younger was making annoyed grunts every time his hair whisked across his face, and the poorly hidden crease between his brows certainly didn't help him either.

"So, you don't want anything to hold that hair back? Well I was going to offer a bandanna, but if you okay then I'll just move along,"

The living Slender Man went to move past the Dreamer, trying his best to hold back his smug grin. But failing when he heard the sputtered protests of the younger ravenette.

"W-Wait!"

The other turned, tilting his head at the desperate looking music major. Yoongi glanced around as if checking to see if anyone was watching or could hear over the ridiculous howling of the wind. At this , Jaehwa let his lips curl at the corners in a small smile.

"You have a bandanna?"

''''''''''

After Jaehwa dropped off his 'cargo', he returned to the antsy Dreamer. Bringing a bright yellow bandanna clutched in his hand.

"That is a highlighter, I asked for a bandanna,"

Yoongi didn't look amused at the brightly colored bandanna, but at least it looked relatively new and clean. Everything the fishermen and their ship were not.

"You didn't ask, in fact, I think it's called begging,"

At the statement, Yoongi's head snapped up, glowering to cover up the red that was still visible through the low light of what the storm allowed. His pride and ego whined in protest at the memory, aggressively pushing down to the far recesses of his mind.

"I could just take it back- "

Before he could finish the statement, the younger snatched the bandanna from the other.

"That won't be necessary, I'll be the ships highlighter. If it means I can actually see through all this damn hair, and my hair isn't even that long! This is such bullshit."

Jaehwa hummed in acknowledgement, explaining how to 'properly' tie a bandanna. Even though Yoongi insisted he knew how to tie a simple double knot.

He rolled up the bright fabric, before wrapping it around his head and tying tightly to ensure that it would stay put. Leaving two little yellow tails at the end of the make shift headband, shifting it a couple times to move his hair behind the bandanna. After the whole fiasco is over, Yoongi almost sighs in contentment at finally seeing clearly. As clearly as someone in the midst of one of the biggest storms in the past decade.

Seeing the clear relief stark across the youngers face, Jaehwa ruffles his hair in slight affection, offering a lopsided smile.

"It looks good on you kid,"

For the first time in the presence of the crew, he smiled, pink gums and all.

He could hear the loud coos from Intak carrying over from the starside, but Yoongi was too happy to really give a shit.

He let a mantra of 'thank yous' pour out before the older just shrugged them off, telling him to hurry on down below deck lest he want to get roped into preparing The King Munmu for disembarkation.

The Dreamer didn't need to be told twice, as he scurried towards the staircase.

The staircase was small in width, Yoongi was slim enough to pass down without a problem, but only barely. If any of the crew mates had claustrophobia, they wouldn't be able to even go down the stairs. More like if anyone had claustrophobia they wouldn't be able to even look at the stairs, and anyone wider or taller than Yoongi would be amusingly screwed.

By the time he was at the bottom of the steep creaking steps, hands trailing over the walls for balance, he was met straight on with a wooden door. It wasn't anything special, it had a foggy porthole barely the size of his hand. Brass surrounded the porthole, along with a matching doorknob. Wood splintering like the rest of the ship, and Yoongi was careful to not touch anything except the doorknob. He wasn't about to get a splinter if he could avoid those little wooden demons.

The Dreamer grasped the brazen knob, and upon trying to open the door, he had to give a not-so-gentle shove for it to give way. Even through the howls of the wind, the door creaked loudly. It sounded like a dying animal, mixed with wails of agony from a tortured cat. Very similar sounds, yet when put together, sounded like a cacophony of maltreatment.

Yoongi winced, taking a step into the doorway that couldn't have been 2 centimeters taller than himself. It was pitch black, darker than the world behind him. All he could see were lumps here and there, prompting him to blindly feel for a light switch.

The Dreamer lightly skimmed over the uneven wood, moving into the room to continue his search. Then, a cool bump protruded from the wall, and with a simple flick upwards, there was light.

Dim radiance flooded the room, washing over boxes, lockers, and livewells. The light was emitting from a swinging health hazard, also known as a single light bulb in the middle of the room, attached to a thick fraying wire.

Yoongi walked back over to the door, and upon shutting it, he shut out the outside world. The howling of the wind muted, shouts from across the ship were muffled. Only the loud clomping of rubber boots was prominent from overhead, as burly men made their way across the boat.

A particularly loud stomp resounded above his head, causing him to finch and stare up at the ceiling in horror. Half expecting someone to go through the wooden barrier, but nothing came.

The music major glanced back at the 'cabin'. There were no portholes lining the walls, only livewells, and more livewells. So many livewells, in addition to the rectangular wooden chests that were thrown around the room. There were some crates filled with who knows what, and several protruding lockers that are sure to hold gear and whatnot within their clutches.

He couldn't even see the ground with all the mess, some boxes raising higher than him. Even though the ceiling was barely taller than the door, and the door was barely taller than him. Everything was just cramped, and Yoongi realized he's probably going to have to reorganize.

Well it's something to do.

So, he set off to work.

After getting through the wall of crates that stood to the ceiling, he saw the back-most part of the room. Which had significantly less shit strewn about, making his job a hell of a lot easier.

After huffing about the room for a good 30 minutes, all the walls were lined with boxes. Leaving the middle of the room open for Yoongi, except a couple of large crates that wouldn't fit into his Tetris technique. Leaving Yoongi with his best idea yet.

He built a wall of crates, leaving a small opening for him to get in and out of. The Dreamer than checked that everything was tied down, knowing that he didn't want to be buried alive by boxes and lockers. The semi-wall put even more space between him and the outside world, just how he liked it. If music didn't work out for him, he could organize cabins below deck for a living. Hopefully it won't come to that, that wouldn't be good, like at all.

No sooner did Yoongi settle himself on the back wall of livewells, did the engine roar to life, buzzing above his head and sending slight vibrations through the wall. The boat following soon after, as it jerked from its stationary position at the jetty. Finally setting off to the open ocean, leaving behind the safety of the isle he called home.

Yoongi grabbed onto the wires that strapped down the livewells behind him, holding onto them for dear life as the boat rocked with the angry waves. The cresting water furious with the presence of the wooden intruder as they strayed further into the sea.

The ravenette knew the water wasn't going to let up, if anything, it would worsen. Especially when the storm really hits, and the rain starts to come down in sheets

But he did the only thing he knew how to do in this situation, he wove his arms through the ropes holding down the crates. Adjusting as needed, till he was thoroughly strapped in place.

Yoongi reached for his book, opening it and plunging himself into a world without fairy tales. Without mad fishermen, eminent death, and angry salt water.

This is going to be a long night.

(A/N: This is going to sound stupid, but here goes nothing. Yes, I know I can't even update two stories on time, but I'm 7000 words into another story and it might be joining my other works soon. I know I know, I shouldn't be starting another one after going over a month respectively without updating this story and WITW. But since when did I ever make good decisions?)
