Going to Durban always cleared my mind and it never stopped to amaze me. The blue seas and insanely hot climate hugged my skin. All of this was amazing, but what made it perfect was the fact that my family was here. Including my best friend. Also the fact that I was now kilometers away from school.

We arrived at the penthouse we were staying at in the late afternoon. It had four bedrooms, a balcony with a pool and hot tub. My room was on the upper floor and just above the hot tub. And the view of the city was beautiful, though, albeit little scary at night. I had heard about gangs and even some supernatural beings wondering on the streets. That was such a lie. How could a city like this have monsters?

Toni and I immediately went for a swim. Personally, it was too hot for the hot tub. We swam for hours until I could barely keep myself afloat. I then went for a shower and then got into my über comfortable bed. The first day was absolute heaven.

I left the air conditioning on since it was so hot. I slept for what I thought was five minutes until I heard a crash outside.

I slowly rose and, being my curious self, I peeked out the window. Absolutely nothing. No wreckage, no source of the noise. I decided to forget it and check the time. 02:45. Dude, that was early!

I quickly fell asleep but was shocked out my sleep by the scorching heat of the morning. It felt like a nightmare and that is when I noticed something. The window was open and no one was even up. It was 7:30am. Everybody would be asleep till, at least, nine.

So who opened the window then?

Then I noticed something that really scared me. The air con was off.

The air con had a remote which you can control it with. It also had a few buttons on the actual machine. It did not have a timer. So that means somebody had to come in and put it off. But who?

I didn't go back to sleep after that. Instead, I crept into Toni's room and into her bed. She didn't even panic. She actually turned and started cuddling with me. Weird child.

At breakfast I asked if anyone had been in my room while I was asleep. Everybody said no. That means somebody else did it.

I quickly put that out of my head as my dad said that we were going to the beach that day. I quickly got dressed in my bathing suit and made it downstairs to see my mom watching TV. I sat down next to her and watched as well.

We were in between Grey's Anatomy when she said. "That was a loud screech last night, wasn't it?"

I jumped at her words. "So you did hear it?"

"Of course my love. I am your mother. Thought there'd be an accident or something but there was nothing. Weird, huh?"

"Mom, my window was open and my air con was off. I know this may sound insane but I think somebody snuck into my room."

"That's impossible my love but I supposed your father will have a look."

I stood on the edge of the mountain ready to throw myself off.
I needed too.
I was lost.
I took the step and heard a screech.
I plummeted and heard nothing.
None of the problems following me.
Death was I.
