Chapter 25

The elders had held up two bowls to Fear. They had some sort of water in them.

"Stick your hand in each." A blind adreen whispered in a bearly audible voice. Fear raised an eyebrow at them. He cautiously put a hand in the left bowl, then pulled it out.

The water was warm. Fear put the same hand in the other bowl. He yanked it out immediately. It was freezing. Fear gaped at his hand, feeling the tempurature change back and forth between hot and cold.

Soon it stopped, and a strange mist covered it.

"He is the chosen!" The blind elder announced.

"Our savior! We are free!" Another elder cheered. Fear backed away from the adreen and into the protective arms of his mother and father.

"Your child will kill the dragon!" An elder known as Stone Caller pronounced. Ark growled and drew his sword.

"My son is to young for your wishes." Ark growled.

"Even so, he is the one." A woman adreen said. She was wearing a long white gown, her yellow eyes glowing.

"Rays. He-" She silenced him with a raised hand.

"We mustn't be haisty. Fear is a boy. The path will glow with thoughts of hope and memories of pain. That is his prophecy. Clean up here." Rays commanded. The elders looked at eachother, but obeyed her.

"Protect your son with the heart you know you have. It is big enough of a shield. Nothing but strength will grow in him." She said, her eyes distant, as though she were reading their own paths. Reed grabbed Fears hand and tugged him along with her. Ark bowed to the woman.

"Bless." He said and ran after his mate.

"We need to train him if this prophecy is true." Ark said. Reed was fretting on the couch.

"The dragon may return before he is ready." Reed said with worry.

"I won't let him. Palja won't either." Ark snarled. Fear was hiding on the stairs, listening to his parents talk.
