A terrible sight
CW: Small blood mention
—————
Spade stood at her position on the edge of Life's Forest. She waited for the other two guards to join her. Her ears perked up as she could hear what sounded like someone running through the forest.
"Hi!" Jack greeted as he ran towards his spot next to Spade.
"Hello." Spade greeted, smiling at the cougar.
"How are you doing? It's beautiful out isn't it?" Jack asked, smiling widely as he looked at his friend.
"I'm doing good, happy that I got this position." Spade responded, looking around the vast open fields to see if she could see any intruders.
"Me too! I'm so happy we both got it and can work together!" Jack exclaimed, he was almost vibrating with excitement.
"Do you know where Lili is?" Spade asked, she knew having Lili be there would be a big help as she had been a guard for a while.
"No, I haven't seen her for the past few days. I'm starting to get worried, I hope she's ok." Jack responded, his voice laced with concern. Spade knew her friend got worried for anyone he met, and she wanted to try and calm him.
"Maybe she's just sick." Spade suggested, Jack nodded in response and didn't say anything for a moment.
"I'll check on her tonight." Jack said. The pair didn't say anything, keeping their attention on spotting any would-be intruders. Although it seemed as if this day was quiet, as not even a mouse showed up.
As the sun started to set and the night grew near the pair knew it was time for them to head back. The night guards would be there soon. The pair walked the stone path towards their houses. The stone was cold beneath their paws.
"Where are you going? Are you making a wrong turn again, you know you have a great sense of direction." Spade asked as she saw her friend make a wrong turn, sarcasm laced in her voice.
"I'm checking on Lili, remember?" Jack asked, Spade nodded, she must've forgotten.
Jack walked up towards Lili's house. He could see the small cottage with flowers all around it, he noticed that the flowers near the front of the house seemed to have been stepped on. That's weird, Lili always took great care to make sure everything looked perfect. He thought, he knocked on the door, no response. He decided that he should open it, he had to make sure she was ok. He looked around the house, instantly noticing what looked like scratches from hoofs being dragged across a wooden floor. He instantly got more worried and ran up towards her bedroom.
He looked inside the mess that was her bedroom, but something caught his eye, a green splotch of blood on her bed. He looked at it in horror, someone must've dragged her out. He had no idea who but whoever it was was going to get punished, he knew the crossbow he had gotten could hurt Life themself, so he knew it would be perfect to punish whoever had done this.
