Chapter Three

My head was panting as I looked upon the burning church, my knees trembled as I was soon surrounded by monsters.

"Oh what do we have here?" One monster snickered, their eyes red as blood.

"A human? It's been awhile since I last ate one." A black and red eyes ghoul snickered, licking his lips.

"Oh look, he's shaking." The vampire prods. I gulp and reach for my pocket, a knife to decapitate them. Keeping them off my tail for some time. I pulled it out and did as I planned, running away from the church, and the screaming victims inside, tears down my face. In the corner of my eye, I saw a man with tears streaming down his face as well, and he looked at me, a flash of gold piercing my heart.

I woke with a start, sweat running down my pale face. My heart beat was accelerated and my breathing was heavy and fast. It was too early for me to go about my business, so I got to my feet and left my room, taking a deep breath as I head to Sousuke's room. I stand at his door, holding up my hand, letting it hit the door gently. If he didn't answer, I'd try to go back to bed.

I waited for a minute before trying again. After another minute passed, I sighed and turned around to go back to my room. I heard the door creak open.

"Something wrong Yuki?" Sousuke questions. I turn back around to see a shirtless Sousuke, clad in boxers. A prominent v-line.

"I had a nightmare." I inform. He looked at me for a moment and moved slightly out of the way.

"Come on in, and close the door behind you." He turned his back to me, walking further inside his room, once again revealing his tattoo.

I had no idea why it was on his back, but he didn't seem to like it considering there was a burn mark on the upper left side of it, destroying part of it.

I walked in, closing the door behind me and walking over to Sousuke. I didn't dare ask him about the tattoo, even if my curiosity begged me too. I resisted my overwhelming urge to touch the tattoo as well. He seemed to sense it.

"You're curious, aren't you?" He questions with a sigh.

"Of course I'm curious, but you don't want to talk about it, and I understand." I informed.

"I guess there's no harm in telling you." He seemed pained to say that. He begins to speak more, but I cover his mouth with my hands and shake my head.

"Don't. You seemed hurt to talk about it. I'll wait." I smile and he removes my hands, smiling slightly back.

"Thanks for being kind. Let's get some sleep." I nod and we et into the bed, facing away from each other, a decent sum of space between us. Soon enough, he had drifted off and I was still having some trouble, so I turned to face him. His back exposed to me, revealing the same tattoo. I still felt this stormy urge to touch it, but I kept resisting. Instead, I moved closer and wrapped my arms around him, finding myself more at peace as I drifted off.

"I didn't think you were going back there. I saw you crying and running away. That's to be expected." Sousuke was speaking to me and I was unable to move it speak. "When you wake up, let's get away from this place, this damn world of apocalypse. You see, I have no one left, and I think you're the same. You were digging through the rubble like no ones business, crying as you searched. Then the roof caved in."

Sousuke looked different in this point of time. His hair was messy and plastered to his face, he wore a black tank top and jeans, more like cargo pants. His golden eyes seemed so depressingly sad. I wanted to reach out to him.

"I hope I can trust you, because I have no one else left to trust."

I awoke with a sweet taste yet again, upon my lips. My eyes lifted to find myself encased in a warm embrace. Sousuke had one arm wrapped around me, and the other I seemed to be using as a pillow. I held back a surprised gasp and big my lip. This was a bit embarrassing now and I-I don't k-know why. My body felt hot and I had to get away.

I carefully tried to remove his arm, being surprised when I'm pulled back down. I am greeted with Sousuke's golden eyes.

"Where do you think you're going?" He questions.

"B-back to my r-room to get dressed." I inform. "And t-take a s-shower." I informed. He studied me, bringing one of his hands to my face.

"Are you blushing?" I freeze.

"N-no! It's j-just because you're r-ridiculously close t-that's all!" I stutter. He paused and dropped his hand, sitting up.

"Sorry if it's making you uncomfortable then. I'm going to get in the shower." He pushed off the bed and went into his bathroom and I felt a bit guilty. He seemed a bit hurt at my words. I sigh mad get out of the bed, leaving his room and then going to mine, sliding down the wooden door as soon as I get inside.

"Just, what was that?" My heart was still fast as it was back there and I couldn't shake off the heat of his hand. "I-it's just been awhile since anyone has shown me such kindness! That's all!" I lie to myself. "Damn it, who am I kidding? I still don't know why I'm like this." I shake off my thoughts and go take a shower, getting dressed afterwards and heading to the living room. Sousuke was already there. I-I didn't know what I was supposed to say.

"Hey." The atmosphere seem strained and I scratched the back of my neck.

"Hey. About last night, thanks for letting me stay in your room, I didn't have anymore nightmares." I inform.

"That's good. What was that nightmare you had about that made you go to my room?" He questions. I flinch thinking about it.

"It was more of a memory I didn't like seeing." I inform. Sousuke looks at me and Pat's the seat beside him, the tension dropping rather quickly. I went and sat next to him.

"You can tell me." He said softly. I nod and take a deep breath.

"I was remembering the burning church. I had left to grab something my dad asked me to get and when I returned, the place was in flames, my body shook and trembled and I got cornered by a ghoul and a vampire. I decapitated them and ran as fast as I could, my face streaming with tears. But, I don't know, it wasn't enough of a shock to wake me up. The last thing I saw before waking up was-" wait, I saw golden eyes. He was there too, crying.

"Well, what was it?" He questions. The man I saw was Souskue.

"I saw you. You were there, crying as you looked on, and you looked over at me, your eyes flashing gold." I inform. His muscles tense.

"I was the shock?" He questions.

"Yes. But, I knew you weren't going to hurt me, that's just something I seemed to sense in that moment. Still, my nerves were wracked and I went to you, I didn't want to see the church burn again. And well, when I fell asleep I seemed to remember something." I inform.

"What did you remember?" Sousuke asks, his hand now cupping my cheek.

"I remembered something from Eren I was passed out for that long period of time. You-you were talking to me, telling me that I was the last person you were able to trust, b-because like me, you had no one else left." I admit, hiding my face by looking down. Because of this, I didn't see him pull me into a hug, I only felt it. Yet, I hugged him when he hugged me.

"Thank you for telling me." He whispered. I nod and continue hugging him. It's been a long time since I hugged anyone, and I didn't want to let go just yet.

"What do you want for breakfast?" Sousuke questions.

"Not hungry. Let's just stay like this for a bit longer." I softly order. His arms become tighter around me.

"You're kinda adorable." Sousuke comments.

"Shut up." I grumble.

"Sorry." He smiles as we hugged. We pulled away after a bit and just looked at each other.

"Thanks again for saving me back at the church." I thank suddenly.

"I couldn't just leave you to die." He retaliates.

"Just accept my thank you. Idiot." I smile softly and kiss his cheek. "Seriously,  thank you. If it weren't for you, I'd still be alone. And I know I'm not perfect and I've got my flaws, but you put up with me and it's not something I'm used to, so thank you." At that moment I noticed how red his face was. "Who's your face so red?" I question. I put my hand to his head. "Have a fever? No."

"It's because you kissed my cheek, no ones kissed my cheek before so..." Sousuke was so red and then so was I. We were both new at a lot of regular interactions.

"I-I'm sorry. I just, uh, um..." We looked at each other and both of us saw how red we are.

"Hey Yuki, do you by any chance like me?" Sousuke questions.

"Do you like me?" I retaliate.

"Hey, I asked you first!"

"I asked you second!" We both laugh the awkwardness away and we look at each other again.

"So, do you like me?" Sousuke questions.

"I don't know, I just feel weird when I'm around you, a good type of weird. My heart seems to speed up and I'm short of breath. And my head seems to be swimming with images of you." I admit, gripping his t-shirt and burying my head in the crook of his neck to hide my face.

"Well, I know I like you. Since the moment I saved you, I knew I liked you. You seemed so fragile and I wanted to protect you. You turned out to be so kind and trustworthy. So, I couldn't help but fall for you." I looked up at him with heated cheeks.

"Y-you l-like m-me?" I stutter.

"I like you a lot." He admits with pink cheeks. My face gets hotter.

"Than, I don't know, maybe we should, go out, if we can even to that here." I mutter. He lifts up my chin so our eyes meet and presses a kiss to my forehead.

"If love to."
