On with the story!

The day had finally arrived. Halloween!

It was a difficult time this year. With this crazy virus going on, L and I had to work from home. We hated it with a passion, but what else were we supposed to do?

Also, that meant that we couldn't go Trick or Treating this year for L's birthday due to keeping our social distance.

This year sucked. It was as simple as that.

But, despite not being able to spend L's birthday how we usually do, that didn't mean that we couldn't have fun, just the two of us!

The day started off with me leaping out of bed and heading straight for the kitchen.

I always make L breakfast in bed and most of the time I tend to make pancakes for him, so I wanted to make him something different this year.

This year may be pretty bad, but I wanna fill today with happy memories of L and me.

I made the decision to make him something pretty simple: Toast.

But this wasn't just any kind of toast. This was toast with a twist!

As I waited for the toaster to pop the toast up, I thought about making L a milkshake. He's always drinking tea or coffee, so it's always good to change things up a bit.

I decided to make him strawberry milkshake as he really loves his strawberries!

So I got to work by gathering the ingredients: Strawberry ice cream, milk, heavy cream, all the things I needed.

I threw all the ingredients into a blender and switched it on.

Whenever L sleeps, he's usually a pretty heavy sleeper. So I'm sure the noise of the blender wouldn't be enough to wake him up.

The toast soon popped up in the toaster and I got to work with preparing the rest of L's breakfast.

I spread on some marmalade onto the toast and added some pieces of chopped up banana onto it to make little ears and a mouth.
To finish it off, I added blueberries for eyes and a little nose.

"Teddy bear toast! Perfect!"

It looked so adorable! I bet L would love it!

After I finished preparing the toast, I went to finish making the milkshake but before I could grab onto anything, I felt two arms snake around me, pulling me into a hug.

Oh, so he was awake.

"Happy Birthday L" I say to him.

"Thank you (Y/N)" he said, tired.

"Sorry, did I wake you with the noise of the blender?" I ask him.

"No...I just couldn't feel you beside me so I came downstairs to find you" L said. "Come back to bed with me. I want cuddles."

"Hang on, I'll give you cuddles later. I'm making you breakfast!"

L looked over my shoulder at what I had made for him. He watched as I poured the milkshake into a tall glass and topped it with whipped cream, sprinkles, chopped strawberries and a chocolate flake.

"You made all this for me?" He was certainly amazed.

"Of course! My way of showing how much I love you. Why don't you sit down and I'll give you your breakfast."

L sat down on a chair at the kitchen table and I handed him his breakfast.

"Teddy bear toast huh? Looks almost too cute to eat" L smiled.

"If you won't eat it, I'll have it then" I teased, reaching for his toast. L lightly hit my hand.

"No, this is my toast!" He teased back, taking a bite into his food.
"Wow! It tastes really good!"

"It's just toast" I said.

"But you always know how to make it taste so good" L replied.

"I guess I'm just good at making toast?" I laughed.

L finished his toast and went straight to his milkshake.

"Very nice presentation (Y/N)."

"Why thank you!"

L got in to drinking it.

"This is good too! Thank you (Y/N)."

"Hey L, you got a little cream on your nose" I noticed. I leaned over and wiped it off with my finger and licked it, making L get a little flustered.

-Soon-

"That was a lovely breakfast (Y/N). Thank you so much" L kissed my cheek and gave me a hug.

"The fun has yet to start L!" I grabbed his hand and lead him to the living room.

"Here! Open your cards!" I handed L a bunch of different coloured envelopes for him to open.

L picked one at random and opened it.

"Wishing you a happy birthday" L said as he opened the card.
"To Ryuzaki. Have a good day.
From the Taskforce."

"God, they are such cheesy people..." L states.

"Hahaha. At least they did something nice though."

"Yeah..." L reached for another card.

"Congrats, you are really fucking old-"

"Brilliant. Thanks Light and Misa."

"They're like this every year" I sigh.

"Yeah, gets annoying after a while huh?" L said sarcastically.

"This last card is from me!" I say, handing L the last card from the bunch.

L smiled at me and opened it.

"To the most amazing husband ever! Happy birthday L (I wrote L just to be safe). I wish you the very best today! Let's make some more great memories today! Lot's of love!
~(Y/N)"

L looked up at me and smiled.

"You are so cute" he said. "Thank you."

He leaned in and kissed my forehead.

"Did Watari forget my birthday? I thought he would've gotten me a card also."

I smirked.

"Oh, Watari got you a card but I'll give you that one later" I say.

L just tilted his head in confusion.

"O...kay..."

"Let's open your presents next!" I say excitedly.

"You sound way more excited about my birthday than myself" L laughed.

"It's a very special occasion!" I say. "Okay, first is Light and Misa's gift."

I handed L a square box to which he stared at it with a blank expression.

"If they've given me a box of nothing like they did last year, I'm gonna be very annoyed" he said.

"They told me it wasn't that so try to relax..." I laughed.

L began tearing away at the paper.

"What is it L?!" I ask excitedly.

"...Monopoly..."

"M-Monopoly?"

"I already have like 4 different Monopoly games! The original, the Monopoly Junior, Monopoly Empire, and the Monopoly Cheaters version. I don't need another Monopoly..."

I laughed. "Oh well. It's better than nothing I suppose."

"What's the next present then?"

"Well, the taskforce did get you something but it hasn't arrived yet. So I guess you'll just have to wait till Christmas to get it" I say to him.

"Oh that's a shame."

"I do have a present from the guys and girls back at Wammy's" I said, giving him a medium sized box. "It's really a shame that we can't visit any of them because of this bad virus..."

"I know. We always spend my birthday visiting the orphanage" L said sadly. "I wonder what they could have got me."

L tore off the wrapping paper to reveal...

"Oh, dominoes."

"Huh, I never knew you liked playing dominoes, L" I said.

"I don't play it as much as Near does but I've played it before. I bet Near thought of the idea to get me these. But knowing how smart he is, there's probably a twist to these..."

L went to open the box and I spotted a small piece of paper fall off the top.

"Dear the wonderful L.
Let's see if you can figure out how to make the picture. You're smart enough, so you should be able to do it. Wishing you a very happy birthday. Wishing we could see you!
~Wammy's House" I read after picking it up.

"Weird, I don't see anything that resembles a picture in that box of dominoes..."

"Oh...I see!" L smiled and his eyes widened at the fact he was being tested. "Depending on how you arrange the dominoes, it'll create a picture."

"But how? They're dominoes..."

"I'll show you later (Y/N)" L said, putting the box gently on the couch behind him.

"You've yet to show me your present, (Y/N)" L smiled a sweet smile at me.

My face lit up and I dashed out of the living room into our bedroom. I carefully picked up the present I had for him and made my way back down the stairs.

"Here! This is my present to you L!" I said, placing the box in front of him. "Be careful, it's fragile!"

"Thank you (Y/N), I'm sure I'll love it" L said, kissing my cheek and unwrapping the present.

"A balloon?" He said, taking it out of the box. "Why'd you buy me a balloon?"

He just stared at it, dumbfounded. As he wasn't looking at me for the time being, I took the opportunity to pop the balloon right in front of him, making him almost jump out of his skin!

"Oh my God (Y/N), the balloon just popped and now there's pink confetti going everywhere! Holy crap!"

He just stopped for a second and looked around at the confetti on the floor as I just laughed at him.

"What just happened...?"

"L, do you know what this means?!" I say, excitedly. "I'm pregnant with a baby girl!"

"Oh okay...Wait what?!"

L shot his attention to me as I nod at him, tears of pure joy forming in my eyes.

"You're gonna be a dad, L!"

"Wait, for real?!"

"Yes!"

L looked back down at all that pink confetti on the floor. He was lost for words. He just smiled, unable to find the words to explain how happy he was right now.

He looked back over to me and ran at me bringing into a warm hug and lifting me into the air.

"Oh my God! That's so amazing (Y/N)!" He said, lowering me back down. "When did you find out?!"

"The 28th. But I wanted to keep it a surprise for your birthday today!"

"This is the best birthday surprise I've ever had! I'm so happy, I could cry too!"

We just laughed and cried of happiness as we let everything sink in for a moment.

"Oh man, what a great day already" L said, wiping his tears.

"That means I can give you Watari's card!" I say, reaching for it and handing it over to L. "His gift is also within the card."

L just tilted his head in confusion at me but opened the card anyways.

"Happy Birthday to such a wonderful person. Jeez, he's really being a suck up this year isn't he?"

"Open the card L! Open it!"

L opened up the card and he noticed a small money note fall out of it.

"What has he done now?
To L
First of all, happy birthday. I hope you have a fantastic day. You've earned a good day off for working so hard. I'm so proud of you. You are one talented individual.
Also, I would like to say a huge congratulations to you and (Y/N) with your baby on the way! It's like I'm gonna be a granddad! I'm so happy for you both! You two deserve all the happiness in the world. The other's at Wammy's House don't know about this yet, but I bet they'll love the surprise you have in store for them! If you hadn't noticed yet, I've provided you with a little something to help get things for your child. It isn't much, but I hope you put it to good use.

"That old man...Why did he have to do that? He needs that money for himself" L said, picking up the money note and wiping his tears.

"After I told him that I was planning on surprising you, he insisted" I said. "I told him we wouldn't take his money, but I guess he just shoved it in the card. Watari really is a good man."

"Yeah, Watari has been very good to me and the others at the orphanage for our entire lifes. He's really good to you too (Y/N)."

"Yeah, I have a lot of respect for him."

Soon, I helped L store away his presents so nothing got damaged or lost.

"So, Mr Detective" I speak up. "What would you like to do for your birthday now?"

L stood in deep thought for a moment.

"Fancy a game of Among Us? We can call Near, Matt and Mello to join us."

"That sounds so fun! Let's do it!"

We head back downstairs. I grab my phone and L sits at his laptop. We get ready to play.
L gave the boys a call and they picked up almost immediately.

"Hello L? Do you need something?" They all said at pretty much the same time.

"Would you like to join mine and (Y/N)'s Among Us game?"

"That's all you called us for?" Mello asked, a little taken aback.

"Well, I also have some important information to tell you. But I will wait for the right moment to do that" L said.

"Understandable" Near said. "I can spare a few minutes to play."

"Well, if Near's playing, I'm playing!" Mello said afterwards. "I wanna beat him this time!"

"Count me in too!" Matt said.

"Fantastic" L said. "I'll make a game."

L created a game and we all jumped in.

"Okay, who has the name 'Your Mom?'" I laughed.

"That's gotta be Matt" Mello said.

"Yeah, that's me."

"There isn't a lot of us here, but no worries. Let's start" L said, starting the game.

"Crewmate..." we all said.

The game had begun. I was imposter but of course, I didn't want anyone to know that. I headed down to electrical to fake a task.

"God, I'm in electrical on my own. I'm gonna die" I say. "Someone always dies in electrical..."

"Hang on, I'll come with" Matt said.

"Wait, (Y/N) could be imposter" Mello said. "Don't go to electrical!"

"I've got a task in electrical. I'll go there" Near said. "If I die, it's obviously (Y/N)."

"It's not me" I said.

I saw Near's avatar walk into electrical with me.

"Strange. A task in electrical doesn't take that long, unless you are fake tasking (Y/N)" Near said.

"Nah, I have that really annoying task" I said.

Now it was clear that if I killed Near here, everyone would know it's me. So I left Near alone in electrical and went to find the others.

"Matt, come watch me scan in Medbay" Mello said.

"Nah, you're on your own Mello. I've got tasks at Navigation. I don't have a reason to go to Medbay. That'd make me kinda sus."

"L's been awfully quiet though" I say. "Where's L?"

"I'm at reactor..." L says. "I have that memory task. I should be good at this."

Okay, so now I know where everyone was. L at Reactor, Near at Electrical, Mello at Medbay and Matt at Navigation.

If I were to kill Near, they'd know it's me. So killing Near is out of the question here. I headed to Reactor...

"Oh hello (Y/N). Coming to kill me?" L said.

"No. I have that number task here where you gotta count to ten."

"Really...?"

"Yeah" I said as I killed him.

He just looked up at me from the other end of the room. I tried to hold in my laughter.

"Alright, well (Y/N) could've easily killed me in reactor but didn't. So (Y/N) is safe" L said.

Oh he was sticking up for me? That was very nice of him.

I quickly legged it out of Reactor and went to cafeteria where I spotted Matt.

"Hey (Y/N). Better not kill me" he said.

"Bro, I'm safe!" I said.

Or so I thought...

Dead Body Reported

"L's dead in Reactor. It's (Y/N)" Near stated.

"Wait, how? You have no proof. You're just accusing me!"

"Yeah, Near sus" Mello said.

"I'm not just accusing you (Y/N). L clearly said that you could've killed him in Reactor but didn't. Pretty weird how I actually found L dead in Reactor. Explain that."

"I was in cafeteria with Matt! Matt saw me!"

"I did...But..."

"See? I was doing tasks. I only saw L when I was doing my task in Reactor. After that, I never saw him and I didn't know he had been killed. I would never kill my husband."

"Lying through your teeth, I see" Near states. "It's obviously (Y/N). Let's vote her out."

"Wait. Let's properly talk this through" I said. "Mello was pretty close to Reactor. He was at Medbay!"

"I was doing a scan!!"

"Or were you? I bet it's Mello!"

"How?! It's not me!"

"Guys, it's (Y/N)! Just vote her out!" Near was clearly getting quite annoyed by the situation here.

L just sat and listened to the situation that was occurring before him.

"Well, this is slightly amusing" he said.

"Right, we gotta vote before time runs out" Matt said. "I'm skipping."

"It's clearly (Y/N)" Near voted me.

"I still think it's Mello" I voted Mello.

"Mello, why did you vote me?" Near asked him.

"Because I don't like you and want to beat you."

"But then you'd just be losing a crewmate. And the imposter will win!"

It was an uneven vote so we had to play another round. All that was heard was a loud sigh from Near before we started.

If I think about it, if I killed Mello, that could make Matt suspect Near. Because Mello voted Near, so it would make sense for Near to kill Mello to get rid of the suspicion to him.

So that was my plan.

I followed Mello to Communications after sabotaging the Reactor. Mello said he was too lazy to fix it and just wanted to finish tasks. He fell right into my trap. I killed him in Communications and went straight to the Reactor to fix it.

Once I got there, I was relieved to see only Near was there.

'I suppose I could kill Near here. But my kill timer hasn't went down yet."

3...2...1!

I could kill Near!

Dead Body Reported

'Fuck!' I said in my head.

"Right, I found Mello dead at Communications" Matt said.

"It's (Y/N)" Near said.

"Stop accusing me! You have no proof!" I said.

"I don't know, man" Matt said.

"Well, I was fixing Reactor and (Y/N) comes up behind me. All of a sudden, dead body. It's clearly (Y/N) running away from the scene" Near said.

"But when you think about it, Mello suspected Near and voted for him last round. And now Mello is dead..." I said.

"That's true" Matt stated. "For all we know, Near could've killed Mello to avoid the suspicion he had against him. So that he could roam free!"

"Are you serious right now?" Near sighed.

"Exactly! It only makes sense!" I say.

"Right, I'm voting out Near then" Matt said.

"Oh my god! How the fu-"

"Yeah, let's get Near out."

2 votes for Near, 1 for me.

Near was not An Imposter

"Wait, it was (Y/N) all along?!" Matt said.

I then saw that beautiful victory screen before me.

"YES I WIN!!!"

"I TOLD YOU IT WAS (Y/N)!!" Near said, losing his temper. "How did no one believe me?!"

"I genuinely had no idea though, oh my god" Matt laughed.

"Told you it wasn't me, Mello!" Near scoffed.

"I don't care. I just wanted you out."

"I can't believe I won" I laughed.

"That was actually pretty entertaining to watch" L laughed. "Come on guys. You can do better than that."

"I knew!!"

"Want another game...?" I suggest.

"Well, after that, I'm a little scared for another game" L laughed.

"Makes sense" I laughed back.

"Oh L. You said you had something important to tell us" Matt said. "What was it?"

"Oh that" L glanced over at me and I smiled at him. He smiled back then brought his attention back to his screen.

"What if I told you I'm gonna be a dad?"

It went silent for a second.

"Are you serious...?" Mello asked.

"Yep!" I said. "L's gonna be a parent with me."

"No way! Really?!" Mello really couldn't believe it.

"We are being dead serious!" I said.

"(Y/N) got me a balloon as a present that revealed the gender! A lovely little girl!"

"Wow! Congrats guys!" Matt cheered.

"Thank you!!" I say.

"I'm very proud of you guys. Congratulations!" Near clapped.

"Yeah, congrats!" Mello said, finally taking everything all in.

"Thanks guys!" L and I smiled.

"Was that why Watari was acting a bit different lately?" Mello asks.

"Possibly" L states.

"It makes a lot more sense now! Congrats!"

"Thank you so much!"

After sometime of celebrating and chatting, we said our goodbyes to the boys and hung up.

"I'm so glad they accepted that fact" I said.

"Yeah me too. I thought they'd be a bit more concerned for us" L stated.

"At least we got to talk to them today too!"

Later

It started to get pretty late in the day. L and I had had a lot of fun playing Halloween games and laughing at each other's jokes.

It was time for dinner. I had my favourite food ever and wanted to make L some too, but he never eats anything besides sugar so of course he refused.

After I had finished dinner, L went to walk out the kitchen but I stopped him.

"Not yet! I have something else for you! Close your eyes!"

L closed his eyes and I pulled out a birthday cake I had made, from the fridge that I'd left to chill.

I stuck on a few candles around and a candle of L's logo in the middle.

"Happy Birthday dear L!! Open your eyes"

L opened his eyes to see a beautifully designed cake shaped like his logo.

"Did you make this all by yourself?" He asked me, amazed.

"...With the help of a cook book..." I laugh nervously.

"It looks fantastic (Y/N). Thank you very much for making this for me!"

"No problem! I'm glad you like-Hey leave some for me!"

"It's my birthday, leave me alone."

"I made the cake!!"

"Sorry, it's just really good..." L said with his mouth full.

I just shook my head and laughed at him, then went to take some cake for myself as I wasn't gonna get any at this rate.

After dinner, I washed up as L lay on the sofa. I looked out the window to see the sky almost pitch black.

"Trick or Treating is definitely out of the question this year..." I hear L call to me from the living room.

"Yeah...Oh well, more sweets for us then!"

L came into the kitchen after I said that and stood behind me at the door.

"That's not a very nice thing to say (Y/N). Many children are gonna miss their first Halloween or at least gonna be very upset."

"I'm just kidding L" I turn to look at him.

"I'm not good with jokes."

"Yeah, I can see that" I laughed.

L sighed.

"It really is a shame what has happened this year. I know we like to go out Trick or Treating in our costumes every year, no matter how old we are. I wish I could've found a way to prevent this virus from spreading all over the world. But even I couldn't see any of this coming."

"L..." I dry my hands on the tea towel and walk over to him, putting my hands on his cheeks.

"There was nothing any of us could do. Don't beat yourself up about it. We can still have lots of fun inside the house" I smile.

L looked into my eyes and smiled.

"I am lucky to have you (Y/N)" L said, nuzzling into my hand and kissing it.

"Tell you what?" I suggest. "How about we just wear our costumes inside and we can play some Halloween songs and dance?"

"I'm not a very good dancer though...Movement and Dance isn't really my specialty..." L said.

"Nonsense! I'm sure you'll be great! I'm gonna go and change into my costume!" I run up to my room.

"Wait! I'll change into my costume too!" L came upstairs too. He took his costume and changed in the bathroom as I changed in our bedroom.

I applied some make-up to bring out character in my cosplay and I stepped out of the room.

'I hope L likes my costume!' I thought to myself.

Just a few moments later, L stepped out of the bathroom.

"I didn't realise the clothes for this costume were ripped-"

L stopped mid-sentence as he looked up at me fully dressed in my costume.

"Well, what do you think? Good fit right? It was the first costume idea I could think of. I hope it doesn't look too bad to you."

L's face went bright red and he covered his face.

"You have to warn me before you wear something like that!" He said to me, embarrassed.

"What? It's just a succubus costume! This isn't as bad or revealing as others. I'm not that bad. I know my limits."

L's eyes glanced at me then down to the floor after a second.

"Does it not look good? Is it making you uncomfortable?" I ask, slightly disappointed.

"No! That's not it!"

L cleared his throat.

"It looks really good on you" He said, scratching the back of his head. "You look stunning"

"Oh, thank you" I smiled. "You're zombie costume looks good too!"

"You think so? Thank you (Y/N). Not my style but it's not all bad."

The two of us walked back downstairs to the living room where we played Halloween songs and just had some fun like the childish idiots we are.

"I thought you weren't good at dancing?" I say to him.

"Well, I'm not..." L said, stuffing his face with sweets.

"You're such a liar!"

We had so much fun messing around. To be honest, wherever I am, as long as I'm with L, I have so much fun. Even during these tough times, I am still able to have fun and smile with the man I adore.
I can't wait to finally start a family with him.
I hope L has enjoyed his birthday this year. Even if we couldn't do the things we usually do.

"Oh my god, I gotta sit down" I say, sitting down on the sofa to try and catch my breath. "I am exhausted after all that dancing."

"Me too. Eating lots of sweets and dancing don't mix very well..." L says, joining me on the sofa.

I laughed and took a deep breath in.

I turned to L and hugged him.

"So, Mr Birthday Man, what would you like to do now?" I ask. "We could use those dominoes the orphanage got you. Or maybe play Cards Against Humanity? We have a right laugh with that."

L didn't say anything. He just wrapped me in a hug and pulled me close.

"I don't feel like doing anything now" he said. "I just wanna spend time with the woman I love."

I smiled at him.

"Aww, you cutie. Did you enjoy your birthday?"

"I did. Especially because I was with you."

I stroked his hair. L smiled and snuggled into me. After a couple of seconds, he spoke.

"So this has been on my mind the second I saw it. I have to ask, did you wear a succubus costume just to impress me?"

"I might have..."

L smirked.

"It definitely worked."
