One thing the taskforce needed was a holiday. A little break from all the hard work and stress that's been building up lately.

Luckily, the case that was going on had been solved and the criminals were all locked up in jail.

It was perfect as I had some plans to take the taskforce out to take a break from work. So at least myself and everyone else could take a break from everything and have a chance to relax a bit.

Well...everyone except L that is...

Him being the world's greatest detective and all, he was busy looking for another case to solve already.

I watched him from the entrance to the taskforce, him scrolling though his computer and going through various papers and files trying to find a case that interested him.

"Ugh. It's always work with him!" I say quietly to myself, but loud enough for Misa and Light to hear me as they came downstairs.

"Tell me about it. Ryuzaki never rests!" Misa says and the two came to join me.

"I just wish he could focus on something other than work and have a little fun for once" I say.

"L? Have fun? Psssh! Yeah right" Light said, folding his arms. "L's boring and nothing will change that."

"I had plans to take everyone out as a reward for working so hard and solving our last case!" I say. "But giving the circumstances, I doubt L will agree to it."

I sigh and look down at the ground. Light and Misa give me a disappointed look.

"You shouldn't be afraid to ask him (Y/N). The two of you are like two peas in a pod anyway! I'm sure he'll agree to your plans. Just ask if we could all go out together and he'll most likely say yes to you" Misa said, trying to cheer me up.

"You think so?" I look up at Misa.

"She's right for once (Y/N). L will listen to you. Go and ask him" Light said.

"O-Okay. I'll-"

"Good!" Misa pushed me down to just behind L's seat and went back to stand with Light.

"Can I help you (Y/N)?" L must've known I was there as he didn't turn around to face me.

"Uh...Well done on solving the case" I start, trying to make conversation with him.

"Thank you for your help with that" he replied.

"Um, so now that we've finished the case...I was wondering if we could all hang out today as some kind of reward for everyone's hard work. That case was a lot harder than others we've solved in the past together."

L turned his chair around and looked at me. I smiled sweetly at him.

"I'm afraid I can't do that. I'm too busy" L said and turned his chair back around to look back at the files.

My smile dropped.

"Oh...Okay..." I say sadly and walk back slowly to join Light and Misa.

Misa shook her head.

"You gotta be more confident than that (Y/N)" she said. "I'll show you. Watch!"

Misa stormed over to L and turned his chair around to face her.

"Aren't you gonna come out with us or what?!" She asked L.

"I told (Y/N) I was busy!" L said sternly.

"Doing what?! You aren't even working on a new case yet! And besides you've just finished solving a case anyway! Take a break for once! Don't you see that you've upset (Y/N) by objecting her kind offer? She just wants to spend more time with you outside of work?! Is that so much to ask?!"

Misa then grabbed L's collar.

"You lack social skills but yet you don't even bother to go out!"

"I don't go outside because I don't want to, I don't go outside because I'm too busy doing work. Plus, there are people out there who want to kill me and steal my identity so I can't risk that happening!" L stated.

"So what?! They're not gonna know it's you! As if you're gonna give out your name to strangers! You're smarter than that! It's just one day! One day won't kill you for God's sake!"

It was at this point the other members of the taskforce came downstairs and stood next to Light and me, all of us watching in surprise as Misa was getting rowdy with L.

"Alright, alright! Fine! I'll go out with everyone!" L said. "But just for today! And we'll be back here by 8pm. Understood?"

"Good!" Misa let go of L and walked back over to us like nothing had happened.

"Welp, he said he's coming out. So where are we going today (Y/N)?"

I snapped out of my surprised daze.

"Oh, you guys are gonna love it!" I say.

"If it's the beach or a strip club, I'm gonna hit you" L said as he joined us and brushed himself off.

"Oh no. It's even better than that. You'll see!"

-Later-

"A casino?" Matsuda said, looking around.

"Yep. This is one of my favourite places to go when I have free time. I thought we could all go together. As you can tell, I like to gamble a bit, well, a lot actually" I say, with a smug look on my face.

"I haven't gambled before. Perhaps you could teach me (Y/N)" Matsuda said.

"Sure! I could teach everyone all my skills and we could all play together!" I say.

"I never knew you were into gambling (Y/N)" L mentioned.

"Yeah, I didn't speak of it as everyone I know thinks it's stupid. But I know you guys will really enjoy it. Not trying to brag here, but I'm probably the best gambler in this whole town!"

"I wouldn't be too sure about that..." L said.

Everyone turned to face him.

"Wait! You gamble to L?" Light asked.

"You could say I've done it a few times before. I know all the tips and tricks of gambling so I know exactly what I'm doing each time too" he replied.

"Wow. That's quite impressive knowing that you have so much work to do L" Matsuda says.

"Yeah, it is a bit crazy" I say back, before I smirk at him. "I guess I'll just have to play with you and we shall see just how good you are."

"Yes, we shall" l smirked back.

"I'll leave you till last tho. I wanna play everyone else first" I tell him and he nods.

-Later (again)-

"Damn (Y/N)! Why are you so good at gambling?!" Misa said as she pushed all the money she bet on our game towards me.

"I don't know. I just practice a lot. Stop complaining. You're an actress, you'll get paid lots of money tomorrow anyway!" I reply.

I had made a huge amount of money today. I had beaten Light in a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors (the Kakegurui style), I beat Matsuda in Roulette, stole almost all of Aizawa's money in Baccarat and I had just beaten Misa in Pai Gow.

"Guess who's gonna be going shopping for anime goodies this afternoon?!" I say, giggling.

Everyone seemed pretty annoyed by the fact that I had beaten them all, so they all just looked at me funny.

"Don't get your hopes up (Y/N). You still have me to play" L said.

"Heh, as if you could ever beat me" I reply.

"Well, I'd like to see you beat me in a game of poker" L suggests.

"You're on."

We set up the game and sat down opposite each other, my stash of money I had earned today, sitting next to me.

"We'll bet £1,000 off your current amount (Y/N)" L suggested.

Misa began shuffling the cards and dished 5 cards out to each of us.

I glanced over my cards.

'3 of a kind huh? It's pretty rare for someone to get better than that on the first game' I thought to myself.

"Are you guys sticking or swapping?" Misa asked.

"Sticking" I say with a grin.

I look over at L who seems a little confused as he looks over his cards.

'Nice. With that look on his face, he probably doesn't have anything good.'

"I'd like to swap please, Misa" L said and he swapped over one of his cards for a new one.

"Alright, draw your cards" Misa said.

"3 of a kind" I say, putting down all my cards and smirking.

L looks at my cards then up at me with a puzzled look on his face, then he smirks back at me.

"Full house" he says and places his cards down.

'What the?! How?! In the first game?!'

Everyone looked at us with shocked expressions as the saw L take away £1,000 from my money.

"Another game!" I yell, smacking the table with my fist. "This isn't over yet!"

"Very well then" L says, smiling again.

We play another game.

L wins again.

"What the hell?!" I yell in frustration.

"Hand over the money (Y/N)" L says, his arms outstretched.

I scoff and slide some more money towards L.

"You don't seem to have much money left now (Y/N)" L says, looking over to my smaller stack of money with a finger to his lip.

"You think?" I glare at him.

"No need to be so serious. This is only a game of skill" he replied.

"Whatever! I want one more game!" I shout.

Everyone gasps.

"Are you sure (Y/N)?" L asks. "You've lost every game we've played and you don't have a lot of money left. You should think that over care-"

"One more game!" I cut him off.

L sighs and sits back in his seat, clutching his knees a little tighter.

"Very well then. We'll play one more game."

Misa dishes out the cards.

I take a minute to look over my cards.

'Full house?! Whoa.'

There's no way L could beat me if I had a full house like this.

But wait.

I have to think about this carefully. I do have a full house, but that could mean L has the same, but with better cards.

I glanced over at L who appeared to look quite disappointed at the cards in his hands.

'Is he doing that to trick me, or is he actually disappointed?'

"Okay, I think I'll swap these two cards here" L says to Misa holding out two cards. Misa takes them and swaps them with two other cards.

L's facial expression doesn't change. He still looks disappointed.

'This might be my chance to win!' I thought.

"Are you sticking or swapping your cards (Y/N)?" Misa asked.

I look at her, then over to L who stares back up at me. I smirk at him.

"I'm sticking."

"Alright, draw your cards" Misa said.

"4 of a kind" L states, putting down his cards.

"HAHAHA! YES! I WIN! FULL HOUSE!" I state, slamming my cards on the table.

Everyone gasps.

"Well done (Y/N). You beat me. I guess I underestimated you a little" L says, sliding over some of my money back to me.

In the end, L ended up with more money since he did win more games, but it did feel good to beat him even if it was only once.

Soon, it started to get late and we all left the casino and headed back to the taskforce. L and I ended up walking together.

"Damn, I shouldn't be too big headed when playing against you" I say to him. "I let that get the better of me and it caused me to lose."

"You are a pretty good gambler (Y/N)" L stated. "I can see you think carefully about how you play. You did beat me after all which does show how well you can play. Don't let my victories get to your head. You're good at what you do."

"Th-Thanks" I say, blushing a little. "I can't believe you won almost all my money though. I guess I underestimated you too. You're a good gambler too."

"Thank you. And don't worry. I have money to burn anyway. I'll happily share your money with you" L says.

"You don't have to do that! You won it! It's yours!" I say.

"I'd much rather spend it on you anyways (Y/N)" L said. "I do like to spoil you."

I stop and blush hard.

"This is another reason why I love you." I smile and run over and hug him.
