L's Pov

"You want me to help you?" (Y/N) asked me, surprised.

"Yes."

I pulled out a small photo from my back pocket that showed both Light and Misa in it.

"This man here is Light Yagami" I began, pointing to the brown haired young man. "And the girl next to him is Misa Amane." I point to Misa.

"Okay..."

"I'd like to ask if you can help me in my search for these two. They are both criminals. They should be in jail after killing so many people together. I know that they travelled to this world. I need to find them and bring them back to our world so no more people are put in danger. Do you understand?"

(Y/N) bit at her fingernail.

"Yeah, I understand. But why are you asking me of all people?"

"First of all, you saved me and treated my wounds. Secondly, you're the only resource I have right now. You'll know your way around this place and world much better than I will. You'd be a great help to me and you'd be saving many people. So are you in?"

(Y/N) remained silent for a second before answering.

"So I'll just be a tool that'll help you in your search? You'll just discard me once you find them?"

"No! That's not what I meant!"

(Y/N) laughed.

"I'm kidding! You shouldn't take me so seriously hahaha! Of course I'll help out, if it'll help people!"

I relax and smile.

"Thank you. You'd be helping lots!"

(Y/N) looked out of her tree house window.

"...It's still very dark. We wouldn't be able to see our way if we leave now. And my flashlight batteries have ran out. We'll leave first thing tomorrow morning" She states.

"Very well."

"I'm also very tired, so I'll be getting some sleep now. Make sure you rest too, Ryuzaki. It'll be an adventure day tomorrow!"

With that, (Y/N) took off her jacket and slipped into her bed.

"Okay...Have a good night (Y/N)."

I sighed. This was all quite a lot to take in.
Just woke up in a new world and I met this girl who's gonna help me find two other people. Not really something that happens everyday.

I sat down on the floor with my back against the wall.

'I will find you two...'

There wasn't much I could do. I didn't have any of my equipment I usually have back at taskforce so I couldn't really do anything.

Maybe I should rest...

I slowly closed my eyes to try and sleep.

Your Pov

I slowly opened my eyes.

'Another night of not being able to sleep...' I thought to myself.

I slowly sit up and rub my eyes. I look out my window and see it was still pretty dark outside.

"This is gonna be my first time heading out the forest in years...I'm quite nervous" I whisper to myself.

I look behind me to see Ryuzaki fast asleep on the floor.

I smile. He was in need of my assistance so I have to do my best to help him.

I continue to look out the window.

I wondered if anything would be different if I stepped out of the forest after staying in here for so long.

Everyone in this world stays in houses or villages. Everyone is safe and happy in there homes and I live in this forest. Yes, it was my choice, but...

I sigh. Overthinking all this won't help.

It's just been so long...

I feel a slight breeze as I continue to stare at the beautiful moon before me.

It was a nice breeze and I couldn't help but smile more at the feeling of my hair blowing in the wind.

Next Morning

L's Pov

I sat up and rubbed my eyes.
I can't believe I had actually slept.

"Good morning (Y/N). Shall we grab food and get going?"

(Y/N) shifted in her bed and opened her eyes.

"Oh, is it morning?"

"It is. You don't seem to have any food here though, do you?" I say, looking around. All I saw in this tree house was a box. But it didn't look like it would have any food in it.

(Y/N) got out of her bed and shook her head.

"Unfortunately no. In this forest, you gotta look for your food. I normally go fishing to be able to eat" she replied.

That was quite sad. Living off fish everyday.

"Don't you get bored of eating the same food over and over again?"

"Sometimes" (Y/N) laughed. "But it can't be helped. I can't eat other animals due to those in this forest being bears, tigers, lions, etcetera. And I refuse to anyways. That's my only option."

"I understand" I say.

"I'm very good at fishing though! So we can get ready and head to the waterfall first where there's lots of fish swimming in the lake!" (Y/N) said.

"Sure..."

(Y/N) throws on her jacket and puts her hair up in two pigtails before throwing on her hat. She grabbed her backpack and threw it over her shoulders.

"You ready to go?" She calls to me.

"Yeah, I guess so" I replied back.

The two of us climbed back down the stairs of the tree house and (Y/N) led the way to this waterfall.

"I may stop by every few minutes to feed the animals" (Y/N) said as we walked.

"Fair enough. But let me get this straight: You don't kill animals for yourself to eat, but you kill them so other animals can eat?"

(Y/N) looked at me, appalled.

"What?! Of course not! I'd never!"

"Oh...Really?"

"I have a box stored in my tree house. That has lots of different meat in it-"

"So you mean, we could've ate meat from that box instead of taking all this time to go to a waterfall for fish?!" I cut her off.

"No! The meat in that box is for the animals! Not for us!" (Y/N) shouts.

"There's a factory that produces meat, on the outside of the forest that isn't actually that far. I go there to get meat for the animals as I could never kill animals myself. I go in there whenever I run out and get as much meat as I can before I get caught by factory workers."

I stopped walking, causing (Y/N) to stop too.

"SO YOU STEAL FROM FACTORIES?!"

"I HAVE NO CHOICE!! FIRST OF ALL, I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO KILL ANIMALS WITH, EVEN THOUGH I WOULD NEVER KILL THEM! SECONDLY, IT'S NOT LIKE I HAVE ANY MONEY TO BUY ANYTHING!! AND THESE ANIMALS NEED TO EAT!!"

We stood there in silence for a bit, catching our breath.

"You do realise that if you and I were in the world that I came from, you would be in a lot of trouble" I state.

"I know that! But I'm not in your world!"

"Yeah! Luckily for you, I don't have anything on me when I came to this world. So I'm pretty much just an ordinary human being."

"You'd understand better if you were in my shoes..." (Y/N) whispered.

"Huh?"

She shook her head and then gave me a small smile.

"I'm sorry for yelling. I didn't want things to come down to this, but I'm afraid there's nothing else I can do. Come on, I don't want to argue. I'm supposed to be helping you out this forest."

"Well, yeah..."

"Let's go! The waterfall is just down here!" She skipped off.

"Hey wait!" I ran after her.

'Weird. One minute she was yelling and looked pissed off, then she just immediately changed' I thought as I followed her.

(Y/N) suddenly stopped and I almost bumped into her.

"We're here!"

I look out and see a really beautiful waterfall before me.

"Wow! That's a very big waterfall. Bigger than what I've seen in my world" I said, amazed.

"You find lots of crazy things in this forest!" (Y/N) said.

She then took off her backpack and I noticed her pull out a small fishing rod and some jars of fish bait.

"You sure have a lot of fish bait..." I spoke up.

"Well, it's necessary" (Y/N) replied. "Most of the fish in this lake are attracted to different kinds of bait with different smells to them."

She opened one jar and my nose was met with an awful stench.

"Aw man! That smells awful!"

"I know" (Y/N) giggled. "But I've learned to put up with it. It's also very helpful to me. You see, bigger fishes are attracted to baits that have stronger smells or ones that smell bad. If we wanna last most of the day on our search, without getting hungry, then I think it's best to go for a bigger fish."

Wow. She certainly knew what she was talking about.

(Y/N) threw the fishing rod into the lake and waited.

There was a small silence. The only noise that could be heard were a few birds chirping.
I could feel (Y/N)'s concentration as she stared into the lake, waiting for a fish to grab the bait. I didn't want to disturb that concentration.

Very shortly, (Y/N) felt a tug on the fishing rod.

"I'VE GOT ONE!!" She yelled, pulling at the fishing rod with all her might.

A huge fish soon came flying out as well.

"Jesus! That's huge!" I gasp.

(Y/N) laughed. "I think it's a catfish or something. I don't know. I'm not good with fish names."

Although I'd prefer eating something sweet, I couldn't deny that (Y/N) was very good at what she does.

"You're very skilled" I say to her.

"Thank you for saying that!" She smiled brightly. "Though, it's only fishing. Anyone can do that haha. Let's collect some fire wood and we can cook this up. No one likes raw fish."

"Sure..."

There were lots of logs and twigs around this area so it wasn't hard to find much. We threw all the fire wood we had collected and (Y/N) made a fire by rubbing two sticks together.

"Sorry this takes so long" (Y/N) said after lighting the fire. "This is just my morning routine and we all gotta eat to get started with the day. I know you must be in a hurry to get out of here."

"That's true. But it is important to eat and this is really the only option I have for that at the moment. After this, we have to get a move on though."

"Of course. I'll try to be quick at cooking this" (Y/N) said, cooking up the fish.

I sat down on the ground with my knees to my chest. My mind wandered off.
I wondered how things were going back at taskforce. I wondered if Light and Misa had commited any more crimes. I wondered how long I'd be stuck here until I caught those two and went home.

I look up at (Y/N). She is trying her best to help me so suddenly. I can't complain much about that.

"Okay, it should be done now!"

(Y/N) cut up the fish with a small knife she had in her backpack and poured a few pieces into a small brown bag.

"Here" she handed the bag to me. "That way, we can eat it while we walk."

"That's a good idea" I say, taking the bag, eating a few pieces and standing up.

"Wow! That's really good, (Y/N)!" I said, surprised that I actually found something that wasn't sweet to be good.

"Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it" (Y/N) smiled.

(Y/N) put out the fire and put the rest of the fish pieces in a bag for herself too, after she ate a couple.

"Okay. Let's get a move on. Get me out of here (Y/N)."

"Yup! Just follow me!" (Y/N) finished packing away her things and headed down away from the waterfall.

"We'll go down this path" she said, walking down a path that was surrounded by overgrown trees and leaves.

"..." I wasn't very fond of having to step over twigs and dodge leaves to get to this path but I shouldn't complain. (Y/N) also mentioned before that the forest had overgrown so I shouldn't expect anything less.

As we walked, I noticed some monkeys swooping down. (Y/N) reached into her backpack and threw some fruit for them.

"Sorry guys! Can't stop to talk right now! In a bit of a hurry! Will come back later!" (Y/N) waved to the monkeys and continued to walk, while the monkeys ate the fruit, made a few noises, as they do, and swooped away.

Some more animals came to (Y/N) for food and she made sure to feed all of them but didn't stop walking.
It appeared she was indeed very keen to help me. I respected that.

"So Ryuzaki? Where do you really wanna go once you get out of this forest?"

"Isn't that obvious?" I ask. "You said there was a village outside of this forest, right? I'd like to try going there first. I have a feeling those two would try to blend in with other people to look less suspicious."

"Hmm...Is that what you think? That's an interesting point. So you want to go to the village first..."

"Is that a problem (Y/N)?"

"Oh no!" (Y/N) states. "Not at all! I'd be happy to help with getting you to the village. Just one thing though..."

"What's that?"

"Getting to the village from the forest usually takes 2 to 3 days at the least. Are you willing to travel for that long to get there?"

"I'll do whatever it takes to catch them. If that means taking a few days to explore and get out of here, so I can at least try and see if they're at the village, then I don't mind."

(Y/N) smiled. "I like that answer! Come on! Let's head down this way!"

(Y/N) soon ran off.

"Hey wait! Don't run off! I don't know my way around this place like you do!" I ran after her.

"Catch me if you can!"

She's such a strange girl.

(A/N): Welp, here's part 2! Now, this isn't 100% what's gonna be happening in my manga/comic. I do have to break it down for these Oneshots but I hope you're all enjoying the story! ^-^
