(A/N): This is the longest story I've made. So you're in for a ride 😅

(Y/N)'s Pov

I ran as fast as could, through the forest. I didn't stop, I didn't look back.

His very presence made my blood run cold. I just couldn't bare to see him anymore.

However, I could hear Ryuzaki running after me. He kept calling for me but I never looked back. He had the decision to not follow me.

I ran all the way back through the pathways Ryuzaki and I walked through together.
Past the stream, and down the overgrown passageways.

I reached the place with the big deep puddle in the middle. I looked ahead to see my good ol' friend Samuel, still lying at the other end.

"Sammy!" I call to him.

The big lion woke up from his nap and appeared to look very excited to see me at the other side.

"Wait there, boy. I'm coming to you!"

I suddenly look back to see Ryuzaki catching up with me.

"Stop (Y/N). Just tell me what's wrong" he gasped for air.

I just gave him a sympathetic look and jumped up, grabbing the vines above me and swinging my way to the other side.

But this man wasn't giving up that easily. He jumped up also and swung to the end, almost perfectly.

I let go and landed on Samuel's back. But just as we were about to leave, Ryuzaki landed right next to me.

"What's going on (Y/N)?" He asked me, sternly. "We were so close! Why are you just running away?!"

"Why are you following me?! You had the chance to not follow me!"

"I'm concerned about you (Y/N)!"

"No! You're not! Stop being concerned about me!"

"You're not making any sense (Y/N)!"

I struggled to fight back the tears in my eyes. I didn't want to seem weak to Ryuzaki.

"You look scared. Why won't you just talk to me?"

"There's nothing to talk about!"

"Why do you have to be so complicated?!"

"Why do you always demand answers?!"

"Because I'm a detective!"

Samuel ran back to my tree house and stopped outside it. I quickly got off, Ryuzaki following me.

"Samuel, can we have a minute?"

The lion nodded at me and leapt of leaving us alone.

"You can't come in my home!" I yell.

"I won't, but I won't leave here until you tell me what's going on" Ryuzaki folded his arms and leaned his weight against the tree.

"Can't you just...!"

I stop and sigh.

"Can't I just...?"

"You were right there! I saw those two people! They looked exactly the same as that picture you showed me before! You could've had them! Why did you have to follow me?! You should've just done your job!"

"I'll get them. But first, you need to tell me what's going on."

It was obvious that this man isn't gonna leave me.

Should I tell him?

I sigh and look up at him with a small smile.

"You had those two in the palm of your hand, and you throw that away for the sake of helping me. What's with that?"

"I care for you (Y/N). Isn't that obvious to you?"

I gave him a look of surprise but quickly shook my head.

"No...This can't be happening..."

"I tired to kiss you. That means I'm well aware of how I feel about you."

He seemed serious about it. He really did love me?

"Come with me..." I say, climbing up my tree into the house. Ryuzaki followed straight after.

"Alright, so are you gonna tell me what's going on?"

"It's not that simple..." I said. "But since I know how you really feel about me, and how you're so determined to know, it feels like I have no choice..."

Ryuzaki shoved his hands in his pockets and gave me all his attention.

"I saw my dad right before me..."

"Your dad...?" Ryuzaki then remembered. "You told me your family was dead!"

"No, I told you that they were no longer around me. That doesn't necessarily mean that they're dead!"

Ryuzaki stopped.

"He really hurt me Ryuzaki. He was a monster!"

"A monster?"

"When I was child, I resulted to nothing but abuse from my parents. They wanted a baby boy instead of a girl. I became useless to them. I got beat, my hair pulled, you name it. They hated me..."

I look up at Ryuzaki who had a real look of fear in his eyes. It scared me a little.

"Why would they do that...?"

"Because I was a bad child, I guess?"

"No that's not right..."

I took a deep breath.

"I didn't just come to the forest to protect the animals. I came here to protect myself. I ran away from my home because I couldn't handle it anymore."

Ryuzaki was speechless. He was unsure of what to say.

"But every single day of being in the forest, I always lived in fear of my parents finding me. I feared they'd come and hurt me, or worse, hurt the animals I love dear."

L's Pov

Oh my goodness.

I would've never even noticed. (Y/N) always looked so happy. Everywhere we went, she was always smiling. She was always so bright and cheerful, always wanting to help out.

But underneath that mask, (Y/N) was living in a world of neglect, trauma, pain and fear.

I felt so ashamed that I hadn't noticed before.
It all made sense now. When (Y/N) and I first met, she was so insistent on repaying me by cleaning up my wounds. She didn't want me to feel any pain like she did.

I couldn't believe I never noticed. I was just so focused on myself, that I didn't consider that someone important to me is struggling.

"You're probably wondering how I dealt with all that pain. How I was able to endure it?"

I look up to see (Y/N) pull back the sleeve on her shirt.

"No..."

"It numbed the pain. I felt it was necessary."

(Y/N)'s nail must've caught onto one of the cuts as blood began to trickle down her arm and onto the floor.

And considering that these were still cuts and not scars, she must've done this recently. Still to this day, she is in fear and pain.

That was another thing that made sense. I always saw (Y/N) wearing long sleeved shirts. She never wore a short sleeved one. Even when sleeping.

"Why? Why would you choose that way?"

"What else was I to do? I had no one else to turn to that would understand me."

My heart began to break for her. I wanted to cry for her, but I've never really been able to cry before.

"However, I always had the animals. They always looked out for me and made me smile genuine smiles. If it weren't for them, I would've probably been dead..."

I look up at her, with a look of sympathy and hurt.

"When I met you Ryuzaki, and you said you wanted me to help you, I was so filled with joy at the time that someone wanted me to help them. But then we almost kissed and I realised it was more than just simply helping out..."

"What are you saying all of a sudden...?"

"You felt love and affection towards me..."

"Well...yeah" I blush.

"My parents loved me for a certain amount of time too. They loved me when I was a baby. Of course, a baby can only do so much. They expected way too much out of me. When I was just 6 years old, that's when everything started to change. I lost my family through the abuse. They didn't love me anymore. They wanted to cause me pain.
I didn't want you to love me Ryuzaki, because everyone I've ever loved always turned their back on me or expected to much from me! I did have some friends too from the village when I was a child, but of course, they left me. Do you understand what I'm saying?!"

(Y/N) couldn't hold back her emotions and the tears began to fall.
She had been strong for too long...

"I'm scared that if I were to leap back at your love, you'd only get sick of me in the future, and I'll get hurt again!"

She sunk to the floor and sobbed loudly.

I threw a hand over my mouth, trying to contain my emotions too. It was certainly very difficult.

"You...you can leave me now. I'd understand..." (Y/N) says, wiping her tears. "I'm just being a nuisance."

I remain silent and walk over to her, throwing my arms around her and wrapping her in a tight hug.

She felt so surprised at what I had just done, but it made her tears fall so much more.

I could feel her arms wrap around me, gripping tightly onto my shirt as she cried more and more.

"You'll have to leave this world soon! You'll have to leave me alone and this short time I've spent with you has meant so much to me!"

"I won't leave you (Y/N)."

"B-but..."

I broke the hug and looked her in the eyes.

"I won't."

(Y/N) went to open her mouth to speak but was suddenly cut of by the tree house shaking and a loud banging noise outside.

"What's that?" I ask.

"The tree...?"

Before we knew it, the tree house we were sitting in, suddenly fell over, catching us by surprise.

(Y/N) screamed as we were yet to meet the impact of the ground. I clung to her to keep her safe as the tree toppled to the ground, the house and us toppling down with it.

The impact really hurt.
After a little bit, I was able to move but very stiffly. I slowly and stiffly made my way to a standing position. My body was shaking from the impact of falling from quite a height.

"(Y/N) are you okay?" I ask, before glancing over at her.

There was no response.

"God dammit..." I whisper in pain, seeing her lying, not moving.

I glance around me to see if I could see anything that could be the reason why the tree fell down, but I couldn't see anything or anyone.

"Oh, was that your tree? My bad. Guess I just hated how ugly it was and had to cut it down."

I heard a man's voice and from the distance appeared a tall man in a black suit. He was carrying an axe and his suit was covered in sawdust.

He had to have been the one to chop down the tree.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"The one who chopped down the tree" he laughed.

"Why would you do that? There were people in there! One of us is badly injured!"

The man glances over at (Y/N) and laughs again.

"Come on. (Y/N)?! You're friends with (Y/N)?!"

How does he know (Y/N)?

"I saw my dad right before me..."

"He really hurt me Ryuzaki. He was a monster!"

Was this really who this was?

"What do you want?!" I ask.

"I'm not asking for anything here. I'm just helping my fellow comrades."

At the moment he said that, I saw two other figures walk out from the distance.

Light and Misa...?

"You work for this man?!"

"Yep!" Misa replied.

"What were we supposed to do?" Light added. "You took away the two Death Notes from us so they were underneath police protection. Without them, we can't rule the world as God. So we came here to rule this world. I knew you would follow us as soon as you realised Misa's machine."

"Your aims are selfish and unrealistic. I'm taking you both back to our own world and arresting you both! This time you won't be able to run away!"

(Y/N)'s Pov

I shook a little but I slowly opened my eyes to come back to reality.

But what lied before me was certainly a sight...

"Dad...?!"

I could barely keep my eyes open as I was in so much pain. They kept opening and closing.

"How are you gonna be able to arrest us L? You can barely move!"

L? Was that Ryuzaki's real name?

"You could've had connections to Light and Misa. That's why I gave you a fake name. I'll tell you my real name once our friendship grows a little more."

It made a lot of sense.

So these two were Light and Misa? They were working for my dad?!

"We should've killed you so much sooner!" The man with brown hair snapped at Ryuzaki.

All of a sudden, from what I could just make out, I spot my father taking out a gun from his pocket!

"Ryuzaki!"

I immediately pushed my damaged body to its limit and leapt at Ryuzaki, knocking him out the way just as my dad fired his gun.

I was just in time as the bullet got me in my upper arm, grazing it.

I screamed and fell to the ground in agony.

But at least Ryuzaki didn't get hurt. That's what I wanted.

"(Y/N)!" Ryuzaki rushed over to me and held me in his arms.

"Stupid girl. Why did she have to get in the way?" The brown haired boy snapped at me.

"She's always been stupid" I heard my dad say.

"You alright (Y/N)?!"

"Ryuzaki...It hurts so much" I cry, tears streaming down my face.

"You're gonna be okay. We just have to get you out of here. You're too defenceless right now."

"Don't worry about me Ryuzaki. They're after you..."

"But I..."

"Look at this stupid lovey dovey crap. Hurry up and shoot the man!" The brown haired boy snapped at my dad.

"I'm trying to reload the gun! I didn't realise it only had one bullet!"

"Just leave me Ryuzaki! Before they really do shoot you!

I notice him aim for Ryuzaki again.

"Save yourself!"

But he didn't. Instead he pushed past the pain his body was in, picked me up and ran off with me.

"Never knew the great detective L was so scared and weak" The brown haired boy laughed.
"After him! Don't let him get away!"

"Ryuzaki?! What are you doing?!" You should've just left me!"

"I'm not letting you get hurt again. Especially because of me."

"What are you...?"

"It's my fault you got hurt today. I can't forgive myself for that. But at least I can try to protect you."

I could see it clearly. Ryuzaki's actions were true to heart.
Whenever I got hurt, my parents would laugh at me. My friends that laughed at me when I got hurt.
They laughed because they all wanted to leave me.

But Ryuzaki...He never laughed or even smiled at any of my pain.
It was almost as if he felt the same pain...
He clutched at his chest as if his heart was breaking.
His voice began trembling, like he feared for my life.

And now I really can see that he fears for my life.

"Thank you, Ryuzaki..." I smile through my tears as I became a little more weak. I closed my eyes and rested my head on his chest.

L's Pov

As I was running, I spot something oddly familiar from the corner of my eye.

"The machine!" I say, running over towards it.

"Huh?"

"This was the machine I used to travel to this world" I say as I stop at it. I drop (Y/N) down next to it and take a moment to catch my breath.

"Why are we stopping? They're gonna follow us Ryuzaki..."

"If we can lure them here and they let their guards down, we can throw Light and Misa into the machine so they'll cause no more harm to this world. We just have to be careful..."

"I'm sorry this is happening to you Ryuzaki" (Y/N) said to me. "It's my fault my dad got you into this mess..."

"No, it's not. It's Light and Misa's fault as well." I say, trying to reassure her.

"If I had just learned to face him, instead of running away, I..."

(Y/N) clutched at her arm in pain as she cried some more.

"Is your arm okay?"

"It really hurts, Ryuzaki...It's in so much pain..."

"We'll need to get you out of here (Y/N). We can't afford to have you stay in this world any longer."

"What...?"

"Leave this world with me and start anew. We can get you to a hospital and away from your dad."

"I...can't. I can't just leave the place I grew up in just like that. Samuel will never forgive me either."

I wipe her tears and look her in the eyes.

"It's okay. We'll sort this out together."

"Thank you for always looking out for me Ryuzaki. You really do care."

"Of course I do. I love you (Y/N)."

She leans in and kisses my cheek, catching me by surprise.

"(Y/N). You..."

All of a sudden, I hear loud footsteps on the ground coming towards us fast. I stand up to protect (Y/N) from Light, Misa and her father, only to find out that it wasn't any of them.

"Samuel...?!" (Y/N) gasped.

"Easy boy, easy!" I try to calm down this panicking lion before me. He looked very frightened.

"He must've ran into them" (Y/N) said.

Samuel noticed (Y/N) and went over to her. He gave a sad growl when he spotted (Y/N)'s bleeding arm.

"We really need to get you to a hospital" I said to (Y/N).

As if on cue, the others came running around the corner to meet us.

It appeared that Samuel put two and two together. He stared at (Y/N)'s father who had a gun in his hand, then back at (Y/N) with a gunshot wound.

He instantly realised and began to growl at the man who hurt his best friend.

"So the lion isn't defenceless then?" He laughed.

"Samuel is my best friend!" (Y/N) shouts. "If you hurt me or anyone important to me, Sammy will make you pay!"

"How cute" Light said. "You take care of the lion. I'll handle L."

Light rushed to me and tried to throw a kick at me. However, I ducked and threw a punch at his stomach. It broke into a proper fight.

(Y/N)'s Pov

I never wanted anyone to get hurt.

I watched Samuel slash at my father, scratching his face and making him fall to the ground. The girl was defenceless also and tried to hide.

I then see Ryuzaki and the other boy fighting it out.
Ryuzaki threw a hard kick to the other's jaw, making him fall to the ground. Ryuzaki got on top of him, burying his face in the ground. The man was unable to move and attack him. Ryuzaki pulled out handcuffs from his pocket and cuffed him.

"Light Yagami, I will arrest you. No one else is here to do it, so I have to."

"Light, no!" The girl called and sank to her knees, crying as L put handcuffs on her too.

Light Yagami. The girl has to be Misa Amane.

"Dammit L!"

"Good job Ryuzaki!" I call to him, beginning to get a little breathless.

I noticed Samuel glance to Ryuzaki and give a happy growl, as he leads Light and Misa to the machine. They had lost. They had no energy to fight back so they let Ryuzaki send them back to their own world. They slowly disappear.

But that was the perfect moment for my dad to strike.
He gripped onto his gun in pain and got to his knees. He shot multiple shots at Samuel, taking him down to the floor!

"SAMMY!!!"

I scream for him and try to rush to him.

My dad falls back to the ground in agony.

"Don't move (Y/N)!" Ryuzaki shouts to me.

I didn't listen and slowly pulled myself up, turning on this weird machine.

"Go to your world Ryuzaki! You have what you need now! Just go!" I shout.

"No, I can't do that to you!"

I glance down at Samuel's body. He had multiple wounds. He wasn't going to make it.

"I just lost my best friend...I don't want to lose you too..."

My dad gets up off the ground and I go to lunge at him, but Ryuzaki grabs onto me.

"You'll lose if you try to beat him now. Let's just go back to my world together!" He cries.

"No! Let me get revenge on him! I have to fight him for all the pain he gave me! And Sammy!"

My arm was getting more and more painful. I almost couldn't stand it. But I wasn't caring about my own health. I had never cared about my own health.

Ryuzaki tried to pull me back.

"Sometimes it's okay to not fight someone!" He said.

"Do you want Samuel's death to be in vain?!"

I suddenly got weak and fell into Ryuzaki's arms.

My dad aimed his gun for Ryuzaki. He still wanted to kill him for Light and Misa.

"He'll kill us both if you don't let me go..."

"You're breathless (Y/N)...Let's go to my world and get you straight to a hospital..."

"Oh...Okay..."

But as soon as he fired, I elbowed Ryuzaki straight in the stomach as hard as I could with my other arm, causing L to fall back into the machine in pain.

"(Y/N), NO!" He cried as he slowly began to disappear.

"Thank you for everything Ryuzaki. I love you."

I knew Ryuzaki was important to me. He never laughed at my pain. And he always tried to protect me, no matter what the cost. Even if he got hurt in the process. He always wanted to make me laugh and smile. The memories we made in this short while...they were, and are still going to be, the most important things to me in my whole life.

L's Pov

I saw the bullet go through her heart, taking her out.

"(Y/N)!" I scream, tears streaming down my face.

The last moment I saw of her was her lifeless body on the ground as I disappeared back to my own world.

Did I win...At what cost?

I returned to my world with Light and Misa and they went straight to jail.

I wasn't overjoyed to solve a case I had been working on for years.
I had just lost the most important person in my life.

I couldn't even avenge her death. What have I done?

We couldn't even share our first kiss either. But I knew she was so important to me...
I'll treasure that kiss on the cheek she gave me for the rest if my life, as well as all the memories we spent together.

Goodbye (Y/N). I'm sorry I couldn't save you.

(A/N): That's the end of From Her World! I probably should've made it two parts but oh well lol. Most of my Oneshots are kinda short anyways. I hope you enjoyed it!
