L's Pov

Monday came by pretty quickly. I guess I was working too hard that I didn't even realise what day of the week it was.

As happy as I was to be going out with (Y/N), I had never done this before, so I didn't really know what I was doing.

"I'm stepping outside for a while" I say, heading out.

"Are you feeling okay?" Light asked. "You never go outside!"

"There's something I need to do" I reply.

"Hold up!" Misa got up and came over to me.

"You can't go on a date like that!" She said.

"Wait! You're going on a date?! With who?! How?! What?! When?!" Light was obviously surprised.

"Why not?" I ask Misa.

"Because it looks so plain! You have to dress up properly!"

"It's just a date. It's not like it's anything else" I say.

"At least put a coat on! It'll make you look a little bit better!" Misa demanded. "I'm not letting you leave until you do!"

I sigh. Why can't Light make her stop talking?

"Fine. If it'll get you to stop talking" I say, grabbing a coat. "Okay, now I'm off!"

"Good luck!" Misa called.

-Later-

(Y/N)'s Pov

I continuously check my watch. It was 12:57. I was standing outside waiting for L at Candy's Cafe.

"I hope I didn't overdo it" I say, looking down to my outfit.
It insisted of a long sleeve black and white stripy shirt with a medium length black skirt and black boots.

I sigh.

"He must be running late" I say to myself. "But, it's not like L to be late..."

I look at my watch again.

1:00...

I wait for a while longer until I spot someone come my way. I look closely to see it's L.

"Over here!" I wave to him.

"Sorry, I'm a little late. Misa was being annoying" he sighed, looking away.

"Don't worry about it" I giggle.

"Anyways-"

L cut himself off when he looked over to me. He looked me up and down.

"I over did it, didn't I? I knew I shouldn't have chosen a skirt" I say.

"No, you look very nice" L said, causing me to blush a little.

"Really? Well...thanks"

"Now then, we should get going" L said, leading me into the cafe.

It was a beautiful looking cafe. The smell of coffee and cake filled the air.

"So (Y/N), what would you like?" L asked me.

"Oh! You don't have to worry! I'll buy for myself!" I say.

"(Y/N), I'm the one who asked you on a date. That means I have to pay!" L says. "At least, that's what Misa said".

"Well...Okay then" I say. "I'll have a hot chocolate with 2 sugars and a lemon sponge cake please".

"A wise choice (Y/N)" L says as we reached the counter.

"What can I get you?" The man at the counter asked.

"Yes, we'll have one hot chocolate with 2 sugars, one lemon sponge cake, one black coffee with 10 sugars and a strawberry shortcake" L said.

"S-Sure! Coming right up!" The man left as we found a table and sat down.
L sitting in his usual position across from me.

"Hey L. There's been something on my mind since you asked me on a date on Friday. I heard you say to Watari that you can't befriend people because of your work. So, how did you manage to get the courage to ask me out?" I ask out of the blue.

L was silent for a moment as he tapped his index finger on his knee and looked at the table.

"It's quite complicated really, but since you asked I'll tell you" L said, taking a deep breath.

"Basically, when I first met you, I was certain that I couldn't trust you completely. Many people say women are manipulative, so I kept my distance from you. But as the days went on, I realised that they were wrong and so was I. You seemed to be...very different from everyone else.
You seemed to reach out to me and even tried to help me. You...were also the first person to witness me crying in the rain..."

"I remember that..."

"I guess what I'm trying to say is that you deserve my respect for being there for me when no one else was. Obviously, there still are some things I can't trust you with like my name or where I was raised. I still don't completely trust you to reveal that information just yet. Please don't get the wrong idea though. I'm not saying I don't trust you at all, it's just that I have to be careful. I can't let myself get to close and be careless. Something bad may happen" L explains.
"I'm sure you understand"

"Yeah, I understand..." I say, looking away.

"As I said, please don't get the wrong idea. I still trust you enough to go out of my way to stop working and take you out. That says a lot, doesn't it?" L says, smiling a little to me. I think he was trying to make me feel better.

Soon, the waiter came and gave us our cake and drinks.

It was silent for a while as we ate our cake. L finished his cake within seconds and immediately went to drinking his coffee.

"So I guess you think I'm Kira then?" I ask suddenly, making L choke on his coffee.

"I never said that" he said, coughing.

"But you're thinking it, aren't you?"

"(Y/N) listen" L reached out and grabbed my hand.

"I don't suspect you of being Kira. I have no evidence and all my suspicions point to Light Yagami being Kira and Misa Amane being the Second Kira. I feel like the way they act is very strange, especially when they are around each other, which is a lot. Trust me (Y/N), I do not think you are Kira" L said.

"Well...alright then".

"Come on. This is supposed to be a date. It's supposed to be fun, right? Let's talk about something else".

"Yeah, sorry about that" I say, scratching the back of my head. "I kinda brought the situation up".

"It's alright".

We finished our cake and drinks and L paid for the two of us, before we left.
I thanked him many times and promised that if we were to ever go out like this again, I'd definitely be paying!

"Is there anywhere specific that you want to go to (Y/N)?" L asked.

I looked up to the sky to notice that it was getting slightly darker.

"Well, there is one place" I say.

"And where might that b-(Y-Y/N)!!"

I grabbed L's wrist and ran with him.

"(Y/N)! Where are we going?!" L asked.

"That's a secret!" I say as I keep running, L stumbling behind me.

I took him to the beach.

"Why are we at the beach?" L asked.

"Because!"

"Because...?"

"Because I want to watch the sunset with someone" I say.

L tensed up slightly and looked away, fixing the collar on his coat to hide the very small blush in his cheeks.

"I...don't see why not" he replied, as the two of us sat down.

-Soon-

"Thanks for taking me out today" I say to L.

"It's alright" he replied.

I looked out to sea to spot the sun slowly go down below the horizon.
As this happened, I slowly rested my head on L's shoulder.

I heard a slight gasp escape his lips. He tensed up as well.

"Why are you so surprised? This is what people do on dates" I say to him.

"A-Are you sure?" L asked.

"Yep"

"Well, okay then. To be honest, it feels...nice" he said, finally relaxing.

I feel L's hand slowly stroke my hair, causing me to tense up and my cheeks go red.

"(Y/N)?"

"Yes?"

"I'd like to do this more often" L said. "I like spending time with you"

"I'm glad. I feel the same" I say. "Maybe we could arrange another date?"

"I...I'd like that" L whispered.

As the sun disappeared, L and I just continued to talk about work and things that interest us for some time.

L's Pov

I do like spending time with (Y/N). She's the only one who listens.

"It's getting pretty dark now. We should head back" I said.

"..."

"(Y/N)? Are you alright?" I turn to see (Y/N) was sound asleep on my shoulder.

I smile at her and take off my coat, wrapping it around (Y/N)'s shoulders.

"I never wanted to wear that in the first place" I say to no one in particular.

"Should I wake her up to walk her home?" I ask myself. "But, I'd be a bad person if I did that, won't I?"

"Hmm..."

I decided to pick (Y/N) up in my arms and carry her to the taskforce instead. It'd be easier that way.

I carried her all the way back to the taskforce headquarters.

"Whoa! What happened to (Y/N)?!" Misa shouts, immediately rushing over as I walk in.

"Nothing. She's asleep" I scowl.

"Oh! Sorry..."

"I'm just going to lay her down in the spare room here" I say, heading upstairs.

I enter the spare room and gently lay (Y/N) down on the bed, pulling the covers over her.

"She looks so peaceful..." I say to myself.

I walk back down the stairs and sit down, getting straight back to work and catching up on things I may have missed while I was out with (Y/N).

"So, how did the date go?" Light asked.

"Good" I reply.

"..."

"Is that it?" Light asked.

"You don't need to know everything" I say.

"Okay, I only asked!"

"I reckon the two of you had a good time" Misa says.

"Yes. As I said, it was good".

-The Next Day-

(Y/N)'s Pov

I woke up a stretched my arms out.

"Huh? This isn't my room" I say, looking around.

"Oh, I must be in the taskforce".

I get up. I was still in my clothes that I wore for the date.

"So L...carried me here?" I ask, my face going bright red.

I smile.

"How kind of him. He's starting to open up more to me".

I make my way down the stairs and join the others.

"Good morning (Y/N)!" Misa called.

"Yeah, hi!" I call back.

"Did you have a good time on your date?" Misa asked.

"Yeah. It was awesome!" I say.

"Did you kiss?!"

"Well..." I look over to L, who's face was slightly red.

"No..."

"What?! Then it's not a proper date! You have to kiss to make it a real date!" Misa shouts.

"H-Hey! We don't want to rush anything!" I say.

"I really hope you guys go on another date and just become a couple already!" Misa said, folding her arms.

Surprisingly enough, L and I did plan another date and we went out again.
This time, L seemed to open up more and didn't talk about work once.
I couldn't be more happier to know that he was starting to fully trust me.

"Well, I better head back home now. It's getting kinda late" I say, turning around and looking up to see the beautiful starry night sky.

"(Y/N), wait a second" L stopped me by putting a hand on my shoulder.

"Is something wrong?" I ask.

"We...have been spending more time together, and over that period of time I...have started to trust you more..." L began.
"I guess what I'm trying to say is...I..."

L's face went bright red. I smile at him. I knew what he was trying to say.
He was so cute when he gets embarrassed.

I walk over to him and put my hands on his shoulders.

Before L could say anything, I press my lips against his and we share our first kiss. L was very surprised, but settled into the kiss quickly, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me closer.

After I broke away, the two of us became blushing messes in the middle of a park.
There was an awkward silence as we tried to calm ourselves down.

"So...does this mean...you're my...girlfriend now?" L asked.

"Well, only if you want me to be..." I say.

"I'd like that very much" L said, pulling me into a hug.

"I trust you."
