L's Pov

"Misa Amane" I walked into her room, surprising her a little bit.

"What are you doing here?!" She asked.

"Tell me, you love Light from the bottom of your heart, don't you?" I ask, leaning in closer to her.

"Huh? Y-Yeah! I love him very much!" She replied.

"Good. I need your help" I say to her.

"Huh?"

"Answer this for me please, how does a person ask someone out on a date?"

She looked at me as if I were some being from another planet.

"Wait! Just rewind back a second! You want to ask someone out on a date?!" She asked.

"Yes."

"I can't believe it! The L is in love!!"

"I am capable of falling in love you know" I say to her.

"So, who's the lucky girl? Or guy? If you're into men" Misa asked.

"It's a girl. It's (Y/N)."

"You mean the (Y/N) we work with?!" Misa sounded slightly surprised.

"Correct."

"Oh my god! No way!"

"Anyways, how do I ask her out on a date? I came to you as I know you know all about love and how to do these sorts of things" I said to her.

"Well, you gotta make sure you ask her when the mood is right. You can't just go up to (Y/N) and straight up tell her that you want to go on a date with her. You gotta ask her at the right moment!" Misa explained.

"How do I know when the moment is right?" I asked.

She giggled a little.

"You're supposed to be really smart, but you haven't got a clue!"

"Just tell me" I scowled.

"Alright. Well, the best way to ask her is when the two of you are alone."

"I see" I put my thumb to my lip.
"Thank you for your help. I'll see what I can do."

"I'll make sure not to let anyone ruin your moment. I'll call Light and everyone else and tell them not to come in today. This is all on you L!" Misa said.

"Alright then. Thank you again."

And with that, I left Amane's room.

-Small Time Skip-

(Y/N)'s Pov

I walk into headquarters and sit down at my computer, getting ready to work. I look around to find no one in the room.

'Weird. I thought there'd be at least one person here before me' I thought.

I sigh and just get straight to work. Someone would probably be around soon.

I then hear footsteps coming towards me. I look over to my right, seeing L coming over to me with two tea cups in his hand.

"Good morning (Y/N)" he said to me, placing a cup down in front of me.
"I made you hot chocolate. Just the way you like it."

"Thank you very much" I reply, taking the cup and taking a sip then putting it back down.

"I've managed to get most of the files done, but I'm struggling a little to get these other ones done whilst trying to get a decent amount of sleep too" I say to L. "I'm sorry."

"No, that's alright. Getting sleep is important" he replied.

"You can talk" I giggled.

"I can't sleep. I have many things that I have to do."

"I understand."

"But I can help you if you like" L said.

"You will?" I look at him in surprise.

"Sure. Let me have a look at them."

L rolls his chair over to me. He was too busy staring at the screen that he didn't realise his shoulder was against mine. I felt my cheeks heat up but I didn't say anything to L. He reached for the mouse that I didn't even realise I was holding.
L's hand touched mine for a split second.

"Gah!" I gasped.

"I need to take the mouse (Y/N)" L said to me.

"Y-Yeah! Of course! Sorry!" I quickly take my hand away as I feel my cheeks burn.

L just tilted his head in confusion and turned back to the computer.
He didn't seem to care.

After a while of L clicking at a mouse, he managed to get the rest of my files done for me.

"There."

"Thanks so much L!" I say.

"It's no problem" he said, looking at his tea cup and fidgeting a bit.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"Oh, yeah."

"Okay then..."

I soon notice Misa come downstairs. She sat next to L and gave him the thumbs up.

'What's going on there?'

"So, is there anything else I can help you with?" I ask L.

"No. You're free to go home now if you like (Y/N)" he replied.

"Oh, alright then. I guess I'll head home. If you need me for anything, just give me a call" I say, standing up and heading out.

I then hear Misa whisper yelling to L. They seemed to have a small conversation with each other.

Seriously, what was with those two?

"Umm...Actually (Y/N), would you mind staying here for a little bit longer? I do have something I'd like you to do for me" L says.

"Uh...Sure?" I make my way back to my seat and sit down.

I notice L and Misa have a quiet rant about something. Misa then stands up and makes her way back upstairs.

'I swear, something weird is going on.'

"(Y/N)?" L called over to me.

"Yeah? What's up?"

"There's something I need to ask you."

'It has something to do with what he was talking about with Misa huh?'

"I'm being fired aren't I? I understand.
I wasn't able to complete them all myself so-"

"(Y/N), would you like to go on a date with me?"

I was snapped out of my thoughts with what L just said.

"Wait! What?!"

"Would you like to go on a-"

"I know what you said. It's just...why me?!"

"Because I really like you (Y/N) and I look up to you" L replied.

"R-Really?!"

L nodded.

"So, do you want to or not?" He asked.

I smiled at him.

"Sure! I'd love to go on a date with you!" I say to him.

"Really? I'm glad. How about we meet on Monday at 1:00pm at Candy's Cafe?" L suggests.

"Sure!"

"Well, I look forward to it."

"Me too! Well, I better get heading home now. See you on Monday!" I get up and make my way out headquarters.

L's Pov

I let out a small sigh. It's a little hard to do that.

I spot Misa come downstairs again.

"Wow! You did it! You've got yourself a date with (Y/N)!" She said.

"Yes. Thank you for helping me." I say.

"No problemo! Always happy to help!"

I'm looking forward to this date.
