(A/N): Thank you orangeunicorn66 for the suggestion. I've had lots of ideas for this, I've even deleted it and rewrote the whole thing cause I wanted it to go a different way. I hope this is okay!

The murder case was finally over. L started focussing on a new case, the Kira case, Light and Misa were cleared as suspects (for now) and you could finally go back to your ordinary life.

You stood up and stretched your limbs before walking over to the sugar addicted detective and planting a soft kiss on his cheek.

"Good job Ryuzaki. We did it!" You say to him, hopefully to make him feel a little better since he seemed pretty down. He's been looking very sad for a while now but you tried not to let that get to you. This is L and he's not the happiest person on the planet.

But there was a reason L was feeling so sad. He had doubts. Doubts you didn't know about...

"Thank you (Y/N)", L replied, a faint smile on his lips. "The case couldn't be solved without your help though. You're free to go home now."

"Alright then. But if you need any assistance, just give me a call okay?"

"Sure. Goodnight (Y/N)."

You were about to leave the building when it started raining pretty badly.

And you left your umbrella at home. Shoot!

"Are you gonna be okay walking home (Y/N)? I can get Watari to take you home", L suggested.

"No, that's okay. I'll manage myself!" You say. "Goodnight!"

You then went to run out of the taskforce building and head for home, but you heard a voice calling your name.

"Wait up (Y/N)!"

You turned to see Light running down the stairs with an umbrella.

"Are you leaving too? I've got an umbrella with me so we could walk home together so you don't get soaked", Light suggested.

L tensed up then stood up.

"I'm sure (Y/N) will be fine going home herself. If need be, I'll get Watari to drive her home", he said.

"There's no need to go to the trouble to get Watari to drive me home. It's not that far. I'll be okay walking home with Light", you say.

"I suspect that Light may be connected to Kira, (Y/N). It's dangerous to send you off with him", L said seriously.

"Look, I know what I'm doing. And if anything happens, I'll call you immediately okay?"

"But (Y/N)-"

"Stop worrying about me all the time! You know I hate when you worry about me so much! I said I'll be okay! I'll call you when I get home anyway! Come on Light, let's go!"

With that, you grab Light's wrist and the two of you headed out.

L just stood there in shock at what just happened. He then sat back down at his desk.

"Don't worry about (Y/N)", Misa said walking into the room carrying a tray with cups of coffee on it and placing it on the desk in front of L.

"She's a very smart girl. She knows what she's doing. And besides, my Light isn't Kira or connected to him in the slightest, so there's no need for you to get so worked up about her walking home with my Light! And before you say, (Y/N) and I are very good friends so I trust her to not try anything with my Light. She's with you anyway", Misa continued.

"At least that's what everyone thinks..." L whispered but it was loud enough for Misa to hear.

"What?!"

"Nothing..."

"Are you having doubts about (Y/N)?" She asked, putting her hands on her hips.

"Maybe..."

"Why?"

"I don't know. It just seems like she's getting closer to Light and is pushing me away. It's been happening for some time now but I haven't said anything because I don't want to think that. But I can't help but feel like that's what's going on..." L said, sadly.

Misa gasped.

"Is that what's going on?! I don't want (Y/N) to get with my Light! I have to call Light right away!"

"Good idea. I'll call (Y/N) too right now."

Meanwhile, you were walking back with Light and heard your phone go off.

"That'll be Ryuzaki..." you sigh, going to pull out your phone only to have it slip out of your fingers and fall into a puddle.

"Shit!" You shout.

Just at that moment, Light's phone rang too.

"Fuck. It's Misa", he said, turning it off.

"Why don't you answer it?" You ask.

"Cause she's too annoying to listen to and now that I've gotten away from her for the rest of today, I don't want to talk to her again", Light simply answered.

"Fair enough."

"What are you gonna do about your phone?"

"I'll buy a new one another day. As I mentioned before, I'll call Ryuzaki from my house phone when I get there. I'm sure he can wait a little while."

Back at the taskforce, L and Misa were starting to feel uneasy that their calls weren't answered.

"Neither of them are answering their phones", L said.

"What are we gonna do?! What if they really are together now?!" Misa freaked out.

"I have an idea", L stated. "It may be risky though..."

A few days later

The day had reached it's end and you were about to head home again.

"Hey (Y/N). Wanna walk home with me again?" Light asked.

"Sure. Let me just go and say goodbye to Ryuzaki first", you reply.

You were about to say goodbye to L when you realised he wasn't in the main room.

"Huh? Where's L?" You ask.

"I don't know", Light replied. "I'll help you look for him though."

The two of you decided to go and look for him. It was unlikely for L to not be in the main taskforce room.

The two of you checked his room but you couldn't find him.

"Maybe he went to see Watari or something", you say. "We should just leave him then."

"Whatever you say."

The two of you were about to head out, when you heard two familiar voices in the room just in front of you, making your eyes widen.

"What the hell?" Light asked.

You remained silent but stormed towards the door and burst through it.

The sight in front of you made your blood run cold.

There in front of you, was L lying on top of Misa on a bed. It looked like they were in the middle of something.

"Wh-What the fuck...?" You manage to get out. Tears falling down your cheeks.

"Now (Y/N), let us explain", L said standing up.

"DON'T TALK TO ME! I HATE YOU! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD CHEAT ON ME!"

You then run out of the room, crying.
Light and L tried to stop you but you ignored them and ran straight home.

"Okay...what the hell is going on here?" Light asked.

"Basically, I had doubts that (Y/N) was cheating on me with you, since the two of you seem to be getting closer by the day. Always walking home together, laughing while you work, so Misa and I decided to make the two of you jealous by getting together and hoping that the two of you would catch on and get jealous. I'd hope to get (Y/N) back this way and Misa could have you", L said.

"What the fuck?! You think me and (Y/N) are together?!" Light said, shocked.
"(Y/N) doesn't even interest me that much! And I would never even try to get with (Y/N) when I know she loves you dearly Ryuzaki-"

Light stopped and L looked up at him. Tears were falling down his cheeks.

"-At least that's how it used to be. You ruined everything."

Misa remained silent. She was so upset that she went along with the plan. Now she upset her best friend and Light's gonna think badly of her.

"So you're not together with (Y/N)?" She managed to get out.

"NO!"

"I'm so sorry (Y/N)..." L and Misa said, the both of them crying.

Light just shook his head.

"Look, why don't you go and tell (Y/N) what you just told me and see if you can sort all this out?" Light said to L.

"Will she listen?"

"It's (Y/N). She always listens, even when it's difficult for her."

"Okay..."

Later

"(Y/N)? Open up", L knocked on your front door, only to get no response.

"Please (Y/N). I really need to talk to you about this."

After a bit, you opened the door and L walked inside.

"What else is there to talk about?" You say. "L, I've got more important things to do right now. Why don't you go back to Misa?"

You then head into your kitchen and start to wash dishes. L follows you.

"Just leave me alone L", you say.

"Just hear me out (Y/N)! I fucking hate Misa!"

"Oh really?!" You say, turning to face the raven haired boy. "THEN TRY AND TELL ME WHAT THE HELL I JUST WITNESSED! YOU AND MISA!! GETTING ALL INTIMATE WITH EACH OTHER!! IF THAT DOESN'T PROVE ANYTHING THEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT DOES! I PUT ALL MY TRUST IN YOU L! AND YOU THREW IT AWAY!!"

L started to get a little scared. You had never shouted at him like that and he didn't know how to react.

The two of you broke down crying.

"Listen (Y/N) if you want, but what happened between Misa and I meant nothing. This whole time I was jealous because I thought you and Light were starting to get together-"

"YOU THOUGHT I'D CHEAT ON YOU WITH LIGHT?!"

"You're always hanging around with each other, walking home together and laughing at work! What did you want me to think?!"

"I DON'T EVEN LIKE LIGHT! I'M TRYING TO GET CLOSE TO HIM SO I CAN FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HIM! HE'S A SUSPECT SO I'M TRYING TO SEE WHAT I CAN FIND OUT! IT'S ALL AN ACT! STOP MAKING ME OUT TO BE STUPID L!!"

"I'm not! I'm not the most attractive person ever so it's totally understandable why you'd go and cheat on me anyway!!" L snapped, completely losing his cool now.

"I'D NEVER CHEAT ON YOU CAUSE I LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE L!!"

It was silent as the two of you caught your breath from shouting and screaming at each other.

"I'm sorry (Y/N)..." L said after a while.

"You've said that already."

"I really am (Y/N)!" L then grabbed your hands and held them tightly. "All that with Misa and I was an act. I love you (Y/N)! Please believe me! I'm sorry I ever doubted you! I'm such an idiot!"

He looked straight into your eyes. Tears falling fast.

You could see it in his eyes that he felt so guilty about what he did.

"..."

"I understand..." L said, letting go of your hands. "I let you down so I'll leave."

He turned to walk out your house but you ran over to him and wrapped your arms around him, hugging him from behind.

"Don't go..."

"But (Y/N)..."

"I get it...I understand..."

L's eyes widened.

"But you should have just said something!"

"I was scared to. I felt like I wouldn't get anything out of just straight up asking. And I really didn't want to believe this so I stayed silent, but there was still that part of me that thought that way. I'm sorry I was so selfish. I just love you so much that I don't want to lose you (Y/N)."

He turned around to face you.

"I don't want to lose you either..." you say.

L then wrapped his arms around you and returned the hug.

"Please don't leave me (Y/N)..."

"I won't. I forgive you. I understand what you were trying to do, but just know that what you did was really stupid."

"I know it was. And I'm really sorry."

"Don't leave me either okay?"

"I wouldn't even dream of it!"

The two of you stayed in each other's arms, crying for a while before you broke the hug and L wiped away your tears.

"How about I make you your favourite strawberry cake and we can watch a movie and cuddle together?" L suggested.

"Don't you have work to do?" You asked him.

"There are more people than me at the taskforce. They can survive a night without me."

You smiled at him. If you lost L, the strawberry cake he always makes you would be something you'd really miss too.

"Sure. Sounds good to me", you say.

L smiled back and planted a soft kiss on your lips which you returned.

"Why don't you choose a movie, and I'll make the cake?" L said.

You nod.

The night then ended by the two lovers cuddling and kissing on the couch watching (F/M).
