Yourself and L had been going out for quite some time now. Things were starting to get a little bit more serious. No more acting like little kids, it was time to act properly to this relationship and try to make it work.

You see, L had pretty bad relationship anxiety. Almost every mistake he made or any time he'd be on his own, he'd crumble like a leaf, thinking you were going to abandon him.

You always did your best to prove that you were never going to abandon him and that you would help him with anything he needed.

Sure, things were tough, but you were never going to give up on him. You wanted him to enjoy the moments you spent with each other.

L had always been working so hard as well which was bound to put more stress on him. So you decided you were going to do something nice for him.

It was your day off but you decided to come in to see L.

He was a little worried when he noticed you. He thought you had forgotten it was your day off.

"It's okay. I know I'm not supposed to come into taskforce today. But I wanted to see you and so I came" you smile at him.

L's heart fluttered and a bright smile came to his face. You'd risk spending your day doing things you liked, to be with him?

But after a while, his smile dropped.

"Don't you want to do more fun things than talk to me? You could be using this day to watch anime or anything else" he said.

You shook your head.

"I came here because I want to spend the day with you, outside of work. I thought we could maybe go on a date or something?"

L blushed some more.

"But...I have to work."

"Why don't you take a break today? Everyone deserves a break from time to time."

He gave you a small smile.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive! We can go wherever you want!"

"You mean it?"

"Of course! Let's go!" You grab his arm and pull him out of taskforce, before be even had the chance to decline.

"So, where do you wanna go?" You ask him.

"I feel like if I choose, you won't like it, or you'll find it boring and then I'll feel bad..." L looked at the ground.

"Hey! Listen here!"

You put your fingers under L's chin and lift it up so he was looking straight at you.

"You can take me to a bloody dumpster and I'd still enjoy myself, as long as I'm with you" you smile.

L's face went a crimson red and he turned away from you, with his hands to his face, to hide it.

"You shouldn't say things like that so out of the blue!" He says.

"What? I'm only telling the truth."

L looked back at you and you gave him a reassuring smile.

"So detective? Where are we going?"

L smiled back.

"There's this nature trail I used to go to with Watari when I was younger. It's been years since I last went there. I thought we could maybe go together, just so I could see it one more time and so you can see it for the first time!"

L then started to get excited as he spoke of this nature trail.

"It's so pretty! The scenery is so beautiful and the air is always so clear and fresh. The nature trail leads up to this clifftop, but the good part about this cliff, is that it's filled with flowers! I really want to show you the flowers! They're so pretty. And I know you like flowers too."

L then stopped and rubbed the back of his head.

"Sorry, I was talking too much..."

"That honestly sounds so fun! Let's do it!"

L's eyes lightened up.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah! I wanna see it! And I'm sure it'll be good for you too!"

"Thank you (Y/N). Okay, I'll show you where it is."

He lead the way. It was quite a far walk, but you didn't mind. L seemed at ease and that made you happy.

"Okay, I think we're here" L said as he stopped.

You looked around at the beautiful scenery. L was right about all of it. It did look really pretty. You had never seen such green grass before. And the air smelt so fresh. It was lovely weather as well, with a slight breeze. It was truly beautiful.

"The silence makes me think you don't like it..." L said suddenly from behind you, looking down at the ground. "We can leave if it makes you feel uncomfortable..."

You turn around to look at him.

"No! That wasn't what I was thinking at all!"

L looked up at you.

"You were right! This place is really pretty!" You smile brightly at him.

"Really? Because I wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable or anything bad. I want you to be happy all the time. I never want you to be in pain or sad. I'd rather take all of that burden for you..."

"L..."

You grab his hand and squeeze it.

"You shouldn't say things like that. I wouldn't want you to take all of my pain and sadness. Because you'd be the one suffering and that'd break my heart!"

L froze for a second.

"Come on...You have to show me those pretty flowers at the end. Let's have fun today, okay?"

L nodded.

"Okay..."

"I love you, L. You know that, right?"

"I do. And I love you (Y/N)."

You smiled and skipped off, admiring the scenery whilst L slowly walked behind you.

Those words...He wasn't quite convinced. L's anxiety was constantly eating away at him. He was doing his best to fight it, but now that he had a moment alone with his thoughts, they all started swarming around his head as he looked down at the ground.

What if all this was just an act? What if you didn't really love him? What if the relationship was entirely one sided? What if you were cheating? L knew there were so many more amazing people to fall for than him.

But one thought struck him the most.

What if he was caring too much and trying too hard?

That thought alone was enough to put L on the brink of tears. But he couldn't cry. Not in front of you again. He couldn't keep crying in front of you. You'd eventually call him weak and that's something L would never want to hear. Especially from you.

L shook his head to try and shake the thoughts away. Well, he knew there was no way of getting rid of them, but he tried to focus on the situation at hand.

He looked back up to see you standing right in front of him.

"Oh, (Y/N)! I'm sorry. I didn't mean to space out. Sorry! I know you wanted me to show you the flowers! I'm really sorry!"

"Don't apologise. It's okay" you put a hand on his shoulder. "If you need to take 5, then I can wait-"

"No! No, that's fine. I wouldn't want you to get bored if you waited for me. I don't want you to get bored. We're here to have fun" L said.

"But..."

"We should go now" L said, leading the way. You followed behind.

-Later-

"We're almost there" L stated.

"I'm excited to see these flowers!" You say.

L gave you a half smile.

"(Y/N)...?"

"Yeah?"

"Can I...Can I hold your hand?"

You smile up at him and grab his hand.

"Hold it tight and hold onto it for as long as you need."

L squeezed your hand. You could feel him trembling a little.

"It's okay..." You kiss his hand and you keep going for a while, hand in hand.

"Okay, we're here..."

The two of you stop and you gasp at the sight before you.

Hundreds upon hundreds of beautiful flowers everywhere! There was everything from tulips, to white lilies, to even dandelions! And they were all swaying slowly in the breeze. It was just amazing.

"What do you think?" L asked, nervously.

"I love it! They're so pretty!"

You rush over to the flowers and take a deep breath in, smelling the incredible smell of all the flowers.

"Wow!"

L walked over to you. He was so glad to see you happy.

The cliff you were on gave you a brilliant view of a beach and a small harbour beneath you.

"Don't stand too near the edge (Y/N)" L noticed you staring down at the harbour. "That's dangerous!"

"Sorry to worry you" you turn back around and smile at him. "I just haven't seen anything like this before."

L smiled at you, noticing how happy you were.

-Soon-

"It'll soon be time to head back soon..." You say, noticing the sun was starting to set.

"Mmm-Hmm" L nodded.

You stood up.

"(Y/N)?"

"What's up?" You turn to face L who was holding something out to you.

"I made it while you were admiring the view. It's a flower crown. I took note of all the flowers you're fond of and put them together to make this flower crown" L smiled as he held it delicately in his hands. "It's for you (Y/N)."

Your eyes widen and sparkle as they stare down at the crown in front of you.

"Was that weird? It's weird isn't it? Sorry..." L turned his head away.

"It's not weird at all! It's really cute! You really worked hard on it!" You take the flower crown and put it on your head.

"What do you think? Does it suit me? Do I look cute?" You giggle.

"You always look cute..." L said, tearing up.

"Huh? What's wrong L?" You ask.

"I just...I made that for you, so that you never forget the day we spent here. Together. Because it might be the last time we come here. We'll never know."

L couldn't stop his tears at this point. They began to fall down his face and onto the flowers.

"What are you saying?"

"All this time, I can't stop this feeling of being abandoned by you (Y/N)! I don't want to be alone again! I don't want you to leave me! I want to treasure every moment we make and see your happy smile every day!"

"L..."

"I want to be a good boyfriend to you. I want to protect you! But how can I? How can I protect you if I'm so weak? How can I do anything if all I do is say 'sorry' or cry? I'm good for nothing and that's why I thought you'd be better off with someone else..."

"Don't say that!"

"But now that I've gotten attached to you, I care about you so much I don't want to let you go! But what if you slip away one day and I can't do anything about it?!"

L began to tremble and sob loudly. The breeze picked up and soon it got rather windy.

You rush over to L and embrace him in a tight hug.

"There's no need to worry. I will be with you through all of this. And I will help you no matter what the cause. I know words might not be able to solve everything, but I will repeat all this over and over again if it at least reassures you."

L hugged you back, tightly as if you could vanish into thin air at any second.

"Please don't leave me (Y/N)..." L cried.

It started to rain...

"I wouldn't even dream of it" you reply.

The two of you then break the hug to look up at the sky and watch the rain fall.

"My flower crown will get ruined at this rate. Good job I brought my bag."

You take off the flower crown and pop it carefully into your small bag that you carried over your shoulder.

"You're seriously gonna keep it?"

"Why wouldn't I? It was made by you, wasn't it?"

L blushed a little which made you smile a lot.

"Come on. Let's go home."

The both of you walked back down the nature trail and headed back into town.

As the town was very busy, L ended up bumping into two girls as the two of you were walking past.

"I'm very sorry!" He said.

"Watch where you're going!" One girl said.

That made you clench your fists.

The girls walked off.

"Sorry I didn't bring an umbrella..." L said as the rain began to pick up.

"Stop apologising! It's okay" you say, watching the girls walk off. "I don't mind the rain."

"Yeah, still I'm sorry."

Soon, you noticed the girls starting to laugh.

"He keeps apologising all the time, as if that's gonna make anything better!" A girl said.

Both you and L heard what what she said. L felt ashamed and you were filling up with rage.

"Yeah, what a loser!" The other girl said.

"(Y/N)?"

You stormed up to the laughing girls.

"Excuse me?!"

The two girls turned to look at you in disgust.

"How dare you talk about my boyfriend like that?! You scum!"

"Oh I'm sorry! Did we hurt you and your boyfriend's sensitive feelings?" The girl that appeared more taller than the other said to you, making her friend laugh.

That set you off.

Within the blink of an eye, you reach an arm out and grab the tall girl by the top of her hair, making her scream as she tried to break free from your grip.

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE TALKING TOO?! MY BOYFRIEND IS SENSITIVE BECAUSE HE IS SUFFERING FROM RELATIONSHIP ANXIETY SO HE ALWAYS THINKS HE'S GONNA BE ABANDONED BY ME! I'M DOING WHATEVER I CAN TO MAKE HIM FEEL AT PEACE AND I WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON HIM!!" You yell at her.

L watched in shock.

"BUT THEN WE GET SCUM LIKE YOU WHO THINK IT'S ALRIGHT TO MAKE FUN OF PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM THINGS LIKE THAT?! HOW PATHETIC ARE YOU?! MAYBE I NEED TO GIVE YOU A FUCKING SLAP!!"

You throw the tall girl to the ground. She landed in a puddle, then you glare at her friend who trembles in fear.

"YOU WANNA FUCKING GO?!" You threaten her, to which she runs away. Her friend gets up off the ground and runs off after her.

"THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT! YOU BETTER FUCKING RUN! LEARN TO RESPECT PEOPLE AND DON'T BE SO QUICK TO JUDGE! I MIGHT NOT GO SO EASY ON YOU NEXT TIME! FAKE BITCHES! I BET YOUR NOSES ARE ABOUT AS FAKE AS YOUR PERSONALITIES!!"

You stand there, panting, trying to catch your breath from all that yelling.

L soon came up to you from behind.

"You...You stood up for me."

"Of course. I had to. I wasn't gonna let those fake girls say those mean things about you and get away with it" you say, turning to face him.

"I'm sorry to cause trouble. I should've been able to defend myself."

"Look, it's okay. I don't mind having to protect you. I'd do anything to keep you safe. I stood up for you because I believe in you and I love you. If I didn't, then I would've just let them go. Believe me L, I will protect you with all my heart."

L smiled and even giggled a little bit.

"You're laughing. I'm glad. It's cute seeing you laugh" you reply, giggling back.

"(Y/N)? Forgive me for asking this, but can I...kiss you?"

"You don't need to ask."

You wrap your arms around his neck, and pull him into a kiss. L, shocked at first, embraced you, pulled you closer and kissed back.

Kissing in the rain was something you hadn't tried yet, but it sure was a sweet moment.

And it seemed like that kiss had some form of magical power as the rain had started to clear up.

"See? That's the power of true love" you state as the two of you broke from the kiss.

"Yes..." L said, smiling. He seemed a little more at ease now as he looked up at the now clear blue sky.

"Wanna race back to taskforce?" You ask him.

He looked down at you.

"Are you challenging me?"

"Maybe..."

"You're on."

(A/N): Hey dudes. I'd just like to say that I am sorry for being unactive recently. My mental health has not been the greatest. I've lacked motivation to do a lot of things, I've had nights where I've struggled to sleep, I've been all over the place and I'm sorry. Most of the time I just wanna sit in bed all day, or stare out of the window and just feel at ease, but I can't do that. I have lots of responsibilities and stuff I need to take care of. I try to stay positive and smile through it, but it gets tough and I feel tired and exhausted. Please understand. Again I am sorry for lack of updates.
