(A/N): Right now, I've been struggling to find ideas for stories so that's why it's taking me a while to get stuff out. But I've got a few ideas now so I should have more stories coming out shortly. So enjoy this for now!

This was it! Today was the day you were gonna beat L, the world's greatest detective...

In a game of Laser Tag!

Sure, you two were grown adults playing a children's game against a bunch of teenagers and young kids, but that wasn't gonna stop either of you from having fun and kicking each other's ass!

Obviously you were on opposite teams so you both had the same goals to beat each other.

The game started about an hour ago and most of the young teens and kids were out the game. Your team had you and a teenage boy left whilst L's team had him and a little girl.

You and your teammate were hiding behind a wall, L and his teammate doing the same.

"Let me knock the big guy out, and you go for the girl! It'd only be fair" Your teammate suggested with a smirk.

"No. I'm getting the big guy out, you go for the girl" you replied, seriously.

"Mister, I'm scared. It's dark in this room and I can't see the other team's members!" The little girl said to L.

"Well, you just stay back here and I'll get the two of those guys okay?" L said to her. The girl nodded in reply.

This was it.

Now or never!

You were determined to beat L, no matter what it takes.

Although L was not one to mess with. He doesn't lose so easily. But you weren't gonna let that get to you!

You were gonna win.

"Alright, we're gonna move in on the count of three" you say to your teammate, not knowing L was saying the same thing to his teammate.

"Okay, you ready?" L said to the girl.

The little girl nodded, scared but determined.

"Okay, let's do this!" The boy said.

"On the count of three. One..." you start.

"Two..." L whispered.

"THREE!" Your teammate yelled and jumped out of your hiding place with his laser gun ready to shoot.

"You idiot! I wasn't ready! You're gonna give us away and get yourself shot!" You whisper yelled to him.

You peered over the side of the wall to see L was out trying to get the boy.

This could work! Whilst L is distracted by trying to get your teammate, you could jump out and get L!

Alright, let's go!

You did a forward roll out of your hiding spot and immediately jumped up ready to fire at L, who was really good at avoiding getting shot since it was really dark in the maze like room, only the lights on your laser guns were helping you see.

"I'm gonna need some help here!" L yelled to his teammate.

"O-Okay!" The young girl came out ready to fire.

"Let me get the big guy!" The boy said to you.

"I told you no! I'm getting the big guy!" You say.

"Why?! You don't expect me to gang up on a small girl, do you?!"

"Just listen to me please."

"No! It's a free game! I'll go for who I want to!"

"Stop arguing with me please!"

The boy didn't listen to you and started an argument with you.

"Now's our chance. You get the boy, I'll get the big girl. She's more tough" L whispered to his teammate.

"Got it!"

"You're gonna get yourself shot if you don't listen to me. I'm taking this game seriously I'll have you know!" You yell.

"Yeah! Well-"

Bleep!

"What?! NO!!"

"I got him! I got him!" The girl said.

"You're out!" You hear L say.

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" The boy yelled at you and left the room.

"Whatever" you shrug, watching him leave and shaking your head.

It was just you left. Time to shut this game down.

"Good job...uh...I'm sorry I don't know your name" L said to the young girl.

"I'm Emily!" She replied.

Although you didn't appreciate having to go all out on a young girl, you had no choice.

Bleep!

"You're out little girl!" You say.

"That's not fair (Y/N)! We weren't told to resume the game yet! The game resumes when the last player out leaves the room!" You hear L shout.

"That's just the kid rules. We're grown ups and I play by my own rules. You gotta be ready for anything sweetie" you reply.

"Sorry Emily, you're out now" L said to her.

Emily sniffled then ran out the room crying.

"Just me and you now" you smirk.

"Yep, although I can hardly see you" L replied.

"You're going down!"

"I don't go down so easily (Y/N), you know that."

"Give me all you've got then!"

Soon, L started firing his laser gun at you. You were quick to react and easily dodged his attacks.

L then turned on his heels and sprinted down the maze like room.

"Hey! Get back here!" You run after him, turning many corners on the way

'He must have some plan in mind if he's running away from a fight!' You thought.

You then turn another corner only to find you had lost sight of him.

'Damn!'

You look all over the place but no sign of the raven haired boy.

"Where the hell are you?!" You shout.

Suddenly you feel a weight on your shoulder and you were turned around.

"There you are!" You raise your gun to shoot him, but L lowers it with his fingers.

"(Y/N), this is stupid."

"Wh-What?"

"You know I don't like to go against you (Y/N). Maybe we should just leave it as a draw and quit together. At least then, we'd both be happy and we can both be winners. I'm mostly thinking of you (Y/N)" L said.

Where was this coming from? It wasn't like L to say something like that. Was he really thinking about you? Or was this a trap?

You feel L put his hand on your shoulder again and you can see from the small blue light from his gun that he was leaning in for a kiss. You smile and close your eyes, leaning in as well.

Although, you didn't quite get the impact you were expecting.

L didn't kiss you, but instead he leaned close to your ear and whispered:

"You're out (Y/N)."

"Wh-"

Bleep!

"N-No! You tricked me!" You yell at L, who laughed in response.

"I'm good at doing that. You fell for my trap. Whenever it's me, you always fall for romantic things like that. It's your one weakness. You shouldn't underestimate me (Y/N)" he said with a smirk.

"I hate you!"

"Love you too (Y/N)" L then kissed your cheek and walked out, leaving you to drown in your own pity.

"I lost...after saying I was gonna beat him. I was so confident!" You whisper to yourself.

"GAH! WHY IS HE SO SMART?! I CAN NEVER BEAT HIM AT ANYTHING!" You wail.

You walk out the room to join L who smiled at you. You just glared at him and folded your arms.

"Come on (Y/N). It's not the end of the world. It's only a game" L pointed out as the two of you get ready to leave.

"I can never beat you at anything! It's not fair! You always plan ahead! You're too smart!" You pout.

L chuckled.

"There is one thing you can beat me at (Y/N)" he said.

"And what's that?!"

"Well, you are so much better at confronting me when I'm feeling down. You always know exactly what to say and how to react. I don't" L pointed out, scratching the back of his head.

"Really? I've just had lots of experience" you say, looking away.

"See? You can beat me at that. And also, you're the best at giving compliments. I can't even come close to your compliments. You leave me as a blushing mess" L laughs nervously.

"Aww" you giggle.

"See? No need to put yourself down. I may be the world's greatest detective, but trust me, I still have my weaknesses" L says wrapping an arm around you as the two of you leave the building.

"We're both winners here."
