(Y/N)'s Pov

"Hey! Don't you think L's getting too close to (Y/N) recently?" I could hear Misa whisper to Light.

"Oh yeah! Like, I thought they were just friends, but they seem to be all over each other!" Light replied.

I growled as my cheeks go red.

"Don't let their words distract you (Y/N)", L said, typing on his laptop.

I sighed trying to shake off Light and Misa's words. This has been going on for a month now and it's starting to really get to me!

"Are (Y/N) and Ryuzaki in a relationship?!" I hear Matsuda whisper.

I slam on the table and stand up.

"NO! WE ARE NOT TOGETHER!! WE ARE JUST VERY CLOSE FRIENDS!!" I yell. I have a very short temper too.

Everyone was soon silent and got back to work.

I sigh.

"Sorry L", I say, turning to him.

"That's alright (Y/N)".

"I think I'm gonna call it a night now. I need some time to clear my head from all this stress", I walk towards the stairs.

"Alright then. Goodnight (Y/N)", L calls to me.

"Aww! That's cute! L said goodnight to (Y/N)!" Misa whisper yelled.

I stop at the stairs, clenching my fists.

"I bet (Y/N)'s leaving cause she's really embarrassed! Aww!" Matsuda teased.

I growled again.

"(Y/N)..." L looked over to me.

I release my anger when I hear L's voice. I took a deep breath and head upstairs.

L's Pov

"Isn't it funny how (Y/N) was gonna flip, but calmed down when L spoke?" Matsuda asked.

I turned around in my seat.

"I suggest you all be quiet and get back to work!" I say. "We are just friends and nothing more! Now stop your stupidity and focus!"

I gave the taskforce a very serious look, which seemed to scare them. Everyone quickly scrambled back to work. I turned back around and continued to work on my laptop.

-A few days later-

L's Pov

"This is getting weird", Light said.

"Yeah! (Y/N) hasn't been here for about a week now! What's up with that?" Misa asked.

"Maybe she's really ill or had an appointment. Or she might have had to rush home due to an emergency", Matsuda said.

"If there was an emergency or if (Y/N) had an appointment, she would have called us so we wouldn't be concerned about her whereabouts", I say.

"She's probably ill then", Matsuda replied.

"(Y/N) hasn't been answering any of my calls either", Misa said.

'She hasn't been answering my calls either', I thought.

"I'm guessing she's ill" Matsuda said again.

'Judging from what's been happening lately, (Y/N) may be trying to avoid me', I think to myself. 'Everyone thinks we're in a relationship, so if (Y/N) isn't around me, no one would mention the situation'. I place a thumb to my lip.

I decided to call (Y/N) myself to see if she would respond to me.

"What is it?" Was the reply.

So she did answer.

"Why aren't you at taskforce headquarters working on case?" I ask.

"I'm working on it at home", she simply replied in an uninterested tone.

"Why have you been avoiding-"

"I can't talk. I'm really busy. Gotta go".

She hung up on me.

I sigh.

"(Y/N)'s working on the case at home", I say.

"But why?" Matsuda asked.

"I haven't figured that out yet", I reply.

'(Y/N)...Don't avoid me...'

-Another Time Skip-

(Y/N)'s Pov

It's been over a week since I haven't been to the taskforce.

Judging from how much stuff each taskforce member has to remember about the case, I think everyone will probably drop the 'relationship' act between L and I. I'm guessing they would probably be more concerned about where I've been and why I haven't appeared.

I decided I would go back to the taskforce headquarters.

I arrive at headquarters and I go through all the security checks.

'Dammit! This is the one thing I hate at headquarters!' I thought.

I finally mange to get through the security checks and I made my way into the building.

"(Y/N)!" Misa ran over to me and started checking me over.

"Are you alright?! You're not hurt are you?!" She asked.

"I'm fine", I reply.

"Welcome back (Y/N)", Matsuda said, with a smile on his face.

I just simply nodded at him and smiled.

"Is everything okay (Y/N)?" Light asked.

"Yeah, of course", I reply.

'I wish everyone would stop talking to me. I'm not in the mood to hear all of it', I thought.

"I'm just gonna put my laptop and stuff in my room on my floor", I say, making my way up the stairs and towards my floor.

I was kinda surprised that I hadn't spotted L yet.

Was he with Watari? Was he on his own floor? Beats me.

Suddenly, I was pushed against the wall, causing me to drop me back and almost pass out!

It was L!

"Wh-What's with that?!" I ask, gasping for breath.

"Why?" L was looking at the floor so it was kinda hard to hear him, but he soon looked up at me.

"Why did you suddenly leave the taskforce?! There were no signs of your whereabouts and you didn't answer any calls except my last one, only to cut me off!"

L was raising his voice at me. The emotionless L was getting angry with me.

No...it wasn't anger...it was concern...

"I...I was worried something might have happened to you (Y/N)..." L whispered.

"I've not been gone for that long".

"But you didn't answer any calls except my last one! It wasn't like you at all!"

I was starting to get scared. L was showing concern! He was genuinely worried about me!

"I-I'm sorry for worrying you and everyone else", I say, turning away. "I only did it so people wouldn't discuss the 'thing' between you and I that seems amusing to them".

"I see", L took his arms away, making me able to move.

"You shouldn't be so worried L", I say.

"I can't help it. I care about you (Y/N) and I don't want to see you in danger", L simply said.

"Huh?" I felt my cheeks heat up. Was he serious.

"I didn't want to say anything as you were always yelling that we were just friends", L said, looking at the ground as his face goes slightly red.

"I-I don't know what to say", I reply, twirling my (H/C).

"You don't have to accept. I thought now, since we are alone, it may be best to tell you that I do actually have feelings for you (Y/N)", L said.

I look around me. No one was there, and L was too busy staring at the floor to realize. I pull L closer and give him a small kiss on the cheek.

"(Y-Y/N)!" L was surprised and put his hand to his cheek. His face went bright red as he tried to redeem himself.

"The truth is, I'd admit we were just friends to the others, but it was only because I was too embarrassed to say how I really felt", I say, looking at the floor in embarrassment too.

It was silent for a moment as we both let that sink in.

"So...can I kiss you?" L asks, scratching his head.

I giggle.

"You don't have to ask".

I wrap my arms around L's neck as he wrapped his around my waist. We melted into a sweet kiss that felt like heaven! L had really soft lips for them being so pale.

"I KNEW IT!!" I heard Misa's voice beside us.
