(Y/N)'s Pov

I wanted to do something really special for L's birthday! I don't think he's had a proper celebration since he was at Wammy's House.

I wanted to make sure L had the best birthday ever!

I had invited a few people over to my house and I had arranged a meeting to discuss what we were gonna do.

"Alright! Listen up people!" I shout, clapping my hands and standing on a table, trying to get everyone's attention.

Everyone turned their heads to look at me.

"Tomorrow is a very important day!" I say. "It's L's birthday tomorrow, and I want to make sure he has the best day ever! I want everyone here to put all your effort in to help me make this a great party for L! He's helped us out so much, it's time we all did something for him in return!"

Everyone screamed "YEAH!!" and punched the air. I got off the table and gave everyone a job to do.

"Mello! Near! Matt! I want you three to decorate my living room with decorations. The box of decorations is already sitting in my living room. Can you do that for me?"

The three boys nodded and got to work.

"Light! I want you to help me with making the food. And Misa, you can help too, if you must", I say.

"Sure", Light said.

"Right!" Misa hugged Light's arm. "I would never let Light be with another girl, unless I'm there!" She said.
Light and I sighed.

"Alright, we'll get started with that in a second. Naomi, I want you to wrap the presents. Is that okay?"

Misora nodded and got straight to work.

"All that's left is Watari".

I had arranged for Watari to stay with L at the taskforce so that he doesn't suspect anything. I pull out my phone and call Watari.

"Yes?"

"Hey Watari! It's (Y/N)".

"One second. Ryuzaki, do you mind if I take this important call?"

"Not at all Watari", I hear L say.

I soon hear Watari move to another room.

"I just wanted to check if everything was okay", I say.

"Yes, everything's fine here. Ryuzaki's just working hard as usual" Watari replied.

"Good. That's great. Do you think you can come up with an excuse to get L to come over to my house?" I say.

"Don't worry, I'll have it all sorted out by tomorrow" he says.

"Perfect! Thank you Watari", I say, before hanging up.

"Right! Light, Misa, come with me and we'll get the food made".

They come with me to the kitchen and we start making food that L likes. In that case, sweets!

Misa made little cupcakes, Light made some macaroons and some other Japanese sweets. I didn't really know much about Japanese sweets or how to make them, since I wasn't from Japan, so I decided to bake a huge cake for L instead.

I didn't wanna go overboard with it, so I just made L his favourite: Strawberry Shortcake!
Once I had put the cake in the oven, I went back to check on Mello, Near and Matt. The seemed to be getting on very well.

Misora had finished wrapping the last present. "What do I do now (Y/N)?" She asked.

"You've done enough for now Naomi. You're free to go home and get some sleep, but make sure to get here as soon as you can tomorrow morning!"
I say, giving her a serious look.

"Got it! Thanks (Y/N)"

And with that, Misora left for her home.

"I can't reach it!" I hear Near shout as he stands on a ladder trying to pin a decoration to the top corner of the window.

"Haha! Near, you're too small!" I hear Mello and Matt laugh.

"Shut up! It's not funny!" Near replies.

"Don't worry about it Near! You come down and I'll get it for you!" I say, walking to the ladder.

"Thank you (Y/N)" The white haired boy, walked down the ladder and walked over to Mello and Matt.

"No problem!" I say, walking up the ladder and pinning it onto the corner.

"Alright! I think that's it!" I say, admiring the work of the three boys.
"Thanks for your help you guys! You're free to go now!"

The boys then head for my spare bedroom. Oh yeah, I promised I'd let them stay the night.

I go back into the kitchen to find lots of sweets on the table, with my cake in the middle.

"I'm just gonna wrap tinfoil around the food so nothing gets on it during the night", Light said, doing so as he spoke.

Everything was ready! All we had to do was wait! L was gonna have an amazing birthday!

-Time Skip to Next Morning!-

L's Pov

It was my birthday today. Not that that actually matters. No one cares anyway. I can't remember the last time I spent my birthday with people I care about. I stopped caring about my birthday myself. I didn't really have time to celebrate properly anyway. I'm always too busy.

I was typing on my laptop, when I heard Watari making a phone call.

"Yes. Yes. We'll be there right away!
Ryuzaki, I just got off the phone with (Y/N). She wants you to meet her at her house as soon as you can", Watari says to me.

"Tell her I can't. I'm busy", I reply.

"But Ryuzaki, she says she has something important to show you, related to the Kira investigation".

"Tell her to send me whatever it is through a computer".

"(Y/N) said she had to show you it in person", Watari said.

"Alright, fine", I say, getting up. "Take me to (Y/N)'s house then.

"Of course!"

(Y/N)'s Pov

"Alright guys, is everything in place?!" I ask. I wanted everything to be perfect!

"Everything's all set! We're just waiting on L and Watari to get here", Matt said.

I hear my front door open.

I tell everyone to shut up as I hear footsteps coming to the door.

"(Y/N)? What's this-"

"SURPRISE!!!" Everyone yells, jumping out from there hiding places.

L was so shocked, he didn't know what to say!

"Happy birthday L!" I shout.

"You...did all this for me?" L was gobsmacked!

"Of course!" I reply. "You've always been so helpful to us, we just wanna return the favour!"

L covered his mouth and I saw tears form in his eyes.

I ran over to him and hugged him tightly. He hugged back.

"Thank you...!" He whisper yelled. "I can't remember the last time I had a proper birthday!"

I think I started crying too! God dammit!

"Open your presents L!" Mello, Matt and Near dragged L over to the stack of presents.

"You didn't have to do all this..." L said.

"Open my present first!" Mello said.

"No mine!" Matt said.

It was so cute. L actually looked really happy.

Once L had opened almost all his presents, it was only mine left.

"Here", I give it to him and he unwraps it.
It was a photo frame with a photo of the two of us in it. We were holding hands, and my head was resting on his shoulder. L had told me this was his favourite photo of us.

"(Y/N)..." He looked at me and gave me a small smile. I hug him and we both start crying again.

"Yeah, I remembered!" I say.

"Thank you! Thank you everyone!" L said, breaking our hug.

"Time for food!" Light yelled, rushing to the kitchen.

"Wait for me Light!" Misa ran after him, followed by Mello, Matt and Near. Misora went too.

"You didn't make any horrible food, did you?" L asked me.

"Of course not! It's all your favourite sweets!" I reply.

"Really? You really are something else (Y/N)!" L leaned in and kissed my lips, which I kindly returned. I knot my fingers through his black hair, while L wraps his arms around my waist.

We soon break away and stare into each other's eyes for a while, before I break the silence by saying:

"I'm gonna eat all your birthday cake!"

I soon run off to the kitchen, L chasing me.

"Get back here (Y/N)!"
