The second

It was pretty early in the morning and still dark outside, but I was already awake, so I thought I could stand up already.

People were sleeping all over the floor. Everyone was from my class, we celebrated the end of the schoolyear at Ricks yesterday. It was a nice party, but I had a terrible hangover. Maybe because I've exaggerated with the alcohol last night, but you can't stay sober  at a party.
At least that's what Rick said.

Even though I was just 17 I had the back pain of an 80 years old, that was probably because I've spent the night on the hard floor..
As if this wouldn't be enough I realized my bra was missing. Maybe I putted it of before sleeping.

Actually I didn't want to stay longer than until 3am though. A friend and I wanted to spend the night together after the party.

I decided to think about it later.

I walked towards the bathroom, carefully that I won't step on one of my classmates.
I felt like an solider on a minefield.

I went upstairs and kicked some plastic cups out of my way. Then I finally got to the bathroom.

The floor was covered with a bunch of white floor tiles and the walls were painted in an light blue. In the corner on the left was a toilet and at the other end of the wall was a bathtub. In the middle of the right wall was a terrible tinny sink with a cheap dirty white hand soap that probably smelt like 'wellness weekend' or 'beach dream'.

The whole room looked so cold and depressing, the perfect place for a breakdown.

I washed my face and looked for some aspirin in the mirror cabinet over the sink, but all I found was Benzodiazepines.
Whatever this was.

I closed the cabinet door and jerked back.
Behind me was a black silhouette.

I blinked a few times, then I recognized the person behind me. It was Jane, a pretty little raven haired girl.

"Oh my god, Jane, you scared me! I didn't hear you coming in"
Jane didn't respond, she just looked at me, sadly.
"Uhm... Jane? Is something wrong?"
She still didn't say anything
Her eyes grew sadder and sadder and at the moment I thought she would burst into tears, she suddenly raised her hand.
She pointed at the bathtub which was covered by a light blue shower curtain.

I followed her silent command and walked slowly towards the bathtub, somehow I felt uncomfortable, I was scared, but didn't know why.

I stood right in front of it and raised my hand, hesitated for a moment, then pulled the curtain aside.

My eyes grew large and I shrieked; the tub was filled to the rim with something red.
Was that blood?
I turned around to Jane, but she was gone.

I just stood there.
After a moment I wanted to leave this creepy bathroom, however, before I could make just one step, a water drop fell right in front of my shoes.
I looked at the little amount of water. Then, a second drop.

I looked up again. Jane was right in front of me. She just starred  at me, not sad anymore, more... desperate.
That was the moment I saw the rope around her neck.
"What's tha-"
Suddenly she opened her mouth, her face was twisted into a scary grimace and her skin turned grey. Her mouth was wide open, as if she was screaming, but only a muffled gurgling sound came out of her.

Then the water came. It was flowing out of her mouth like a river, more and more water was coming.

Suddenly she was torn up into a black nothing by the rope around her neck.

I stumbled backwards, behind me was the bathtub, I bumped against it and fell into it. The red liquid spilled over and then I saw the pale face right next to me. Jane's face. Her eyes were open and she had a knife stuck in her throat.

I screamed and frantically tried to get out of the bathtub, I was slapping on the cold floor and crawling to the door as quickly as possible.

My heart felt like it would jump out of my chest any moment.
I tried to calm down.
I looked up. The black nothing was a normal white ceiling with a boring cold lamp again.

I got up slowly and felt for the door handle, my gaze fixed on the bathtub.
I opened the door, went out as quickly as possible, and slammed it shut behind me.

What was that?
Did this really just happen?
No.
This seemed so real, but it just couldn't be.
After a minute I decided it wasn't real.
Still, I would never enter this bathroom again.

The last hour I was sitting on a uncomfortable chair in the kitchen with the last clean plastic cup in my hand, I have filled it with whiskey but didn't drink it.

I thought about it a second, then I spilled it into the sink.
I walked into the living room, everyone was still asleep.

My eyes wandered to the small round table in front of the television, I saw my cell phone lying on it, clearly in a olive green phone case.

I walked over to it and picked it up, I cursed silently when I noticed the broken screen, the phone was definitely unusable now.
I frowned when I saw that all of the phones on the table were broken. Whoever did this had a terrible sense of humor.

Angrily I kicked against the wall and a picture fell down.
I picked it up, it showed of a landscape, nothing that interested me. Luckily the picture frame only had a small scratch. Demolishing Rick's house was the least thing I wanted to do.
When I was about to hang the picture on the wall again I noticed something. There was a hole right under the nail provided for this purpose and there was a shoebox in that hole.

Usually I'm not really curious, nor do I search other people's things, but that was kind of weird.

I putted the picture aside and took out the box, I opened it and was initially confused.

Inside of it were a black and a red bra.
Why should Rick hide bras in his wall?
But then I realized, the black bra was mine!
Was that supposed to be some perverted joke?
I wanted to take it out, but as soon as my fingertips touched it, I had a blurry scene in front of my eyes.

Jane, being pushed under the water by someone, she struggled and wanted to scream, but then the other person rammed a knife into her throat.

I dropped the shoebox.

Now I was already hallucinating! I was slowly but surely going crazy, that was clear.

Maybe it was because of the alcohol?
Maybe. Maybe not. At least I decided to never drink again.

I wanted to get out of here. I hurried to the door, but it was locked!

At first I just wanted to smash it in, but then I figured I should just ask Rick for the key like a normal person and not like some crazy bitch.

I couldn't find him in the living room, where everyone was still sleeping, he was probably in his room. Why should he sleep on the floor with the others when he had a bed?

Why was everybody sleeping here anyways?

I walked up the stairs, his room was at the end of the hallway.

I knocked and walked in "Rick?" I looked around but he wasn't here neither.
I just stood there wondering where he could be.

"What are you doing here?" Rick's voice suddenly came from behind me.
He was only wearing boxer shorts and an open grey button up shirt that showed scars under his nipples.
Pretty revealing, nothing I would wear if my house would be full of people.

When I looked at him I heard a high-pitched, loud scream. I winced.

"Is something wrong?" He raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"Didn't you hear that? The scream?"
"No, I didn't hear anything ... but back to my question, why are you in here?"
"Oh, uhm, I wanted to ask you if you could maybe unlock the front door" I sounded meek, Rick intimidated me a little, he was tall and looked like a weird mixture of Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer.

"Oh, yeah, sure." He smiled at me.
A cold smile.
At this moment I wished I would've smashed in the door or just jumped out of the window instead of asking for him to unlock the door.

He took a step to the side to let me go ahead. Although I didn't like having him right behind me, I went out of the room. Neither of us said a word.

When I got to the stairs, I suddenly felt something in my back. Before I knew what was happening, I was at the end of the staircase.
Everything hurt. I couldn't move.

Suddenly I heard loud laughter "Haha, you're already the second! The other girl screamed more, she was funnier"

I looked up, Rick was grinning like a madman. Behind him I saw Jane, she looked sorrowful down at me.

She didn't do anything, when Rick walked towards me with a knife in his hand.
The last thing I saw was that Jane covered her eyes with her hands.

Then I died too.
