Sitting in front of a blindfolded Misa, this was your last attempt to get information from her. After this L would be running his plan by chief yagami and of that plan didn't reveal anything, then it was proof that whatever the books power was had been passed on.

Misa and Light seemed to legitimately have no memory of anything they've done. But both you and L knew for sure they were Kira, thanks to you being able to see Ryuk. You weren't sure what exactly had happened, but from Ryuk saying 'he's not attached to light at the moment' at around the same time Lights behaviour changed told you that Light and Misa had somehow lost their power.

Again, you didn't know how this book worked yet. Everything was just a theory at the moment, but it seemed to line up.

"Well, good news news and bad news. What do you want first?" You asked.

"Hit me with the bad. Get it over with first" Misa replied.

"Well... you're still stuck here blindfolded and handcuffed for a bit longer"

"UGGHHHH this is getting so boring! Surely this is torture or something-"

"Buuttt the good news is there's currently a meeting about you and Light getting out" you added.

Misa gasped, even though you couldn't see her eyes, they had lit up at the news.

"Finally! So I won't be in here much longer?" She asked.

"If everything goes well yes, but that being said you'll still be closely watched. This is a high profile case after all" you replied.

"I figured, but at least I'll actually see the damn sun again! And Light, finally I can see him again I missed him so much..."

Her devotion to Light coming out of nowhere was still odd to you. What the hell had happened when they met that neither of them could remember? It was like a switch and flicked in her mind.

"Everything is still being discussed and sorted, but hopefully we can fix everything. This doesn't mean you're not a suspect, it just means you're not considered as dangerous as we initially thought" you explained.

"Well... I guess I can understand why you'd have to be so careful and tie me up like this... I mean killing someone with only a face? That's very dangerous. But still, I hate this! I'm so ready to be out of here, I feel like I haven't stretched my limbs in years!" Misa replied.

"I admit it's very extreme. In any other case restraining you like this would be considered inhumane... but this whole Kira situation means a lot of rules have to be bent to protect people's lives. And hey, if you end up NOT being Kira as you keep suggesting, I'm sure L would be willing to give some kind of compensation for all this"

That was half true. This was traumatic for Misa, you and L both knew it was extreme. Buy it was either that or potentially die. If she wasn't Kira then yeah, you'd and L would compensate her. But the fact is you both know she IS Kira. It's just... something has gotten in between her and her power. You talked some more, and you carefully laid traps in your speech that would potentially trip her up into revealing information. But every one she missed, she truly seemed to have no idea of her crimes. It was odd...

Eventually you had to get back to the hotel room, and after going back there to see what the verdict on L's talk with chief Yagami was, you and L would be going to the almost finished taskforce building to finish things up.

It was completely built now, only thing left to do was furnish and move in. You'd be going there to start setting up the computers and security cameras.

As you walked down the halls of the wear house where the holding cells were having said goodbye to Misa, you couldn't help but notice how quiet it was. That's when you realised that Ryuk wasn't with you... this whole time he'd been off elsewhere. He's probably watching L, which worried you a little.

"Salem?" A voice broke the silence.

You stopped in your tracks and turned to face it, having stopped right outside Lights cell.

"What do you want Yagami?" You said coldly.

"Are we really being let out? Or is L messing with me?" He asked.

"...it's being talked about"

His behaviour change seemed less drastic than Misa. He was definitely different, but he still had a sinister aura to him and distaste for you and L in his tone.

"About time" he said.

"Don't go thinking you're no longer a suspect. You're just being classed slightly less dangerous than we originally thought. As long as L and I are on this case, we are watching your every move. And as I said before, touch him and suffer the consequences..." you replied, before walking off and leaving him with that warning.

God he icked you so much.

Maybe it was the fact you dressed like Dracula, but Light seemed more intimated by your threats than he remembered. Last time you gave him that death glare he remembered just shaking it off, but this time it seemed to linger...

By the time you'd left and made it back to the hotel, the talk with chief yagami was over. And you'd walked into the taskforce crowded around him asking questions. L seemed unamused at their reactions to the plan, and sure enough Ryuk was hanging out in the background watching it all go down.

"Mon Cher" you greeted.

"Cara Mia" L greeted back.

Dropping your hand in front of him, he took it lovingly and kissed the back of it.

"No pesky shinigami hurt you?" You asked.

"He's still here? I thought he'd go with you. I'm fine though"

"I thought he'd tag along too but I guess he wanted to know the plan. As long as he isn't harming you and he shuts up every so often I guess he can stay"

Taking his hand that held yours and placing your free hand on top of it you pulled him gently closer. If the taskforce was so distracted debating each other, you could let some romance slip out.

"Darling how long has it been since we simply sat by the graveyard under the stars and talked?" You asked.

"Months my dear. I look forward to the next chance we get to go back to it" L replied.

"As do I. But for now, let's go to the taskforce building, set up those computers and furnish our room ready for our first together night there"

"Sounds like a plan, I'd much rather be working alone with you than have to listen to one more complaint from the taskforce"

"We can't waltz in the empty halls while we're at it" you smiled.

Oh how he'd turned soft for you. The mere mention of a waltz together made him beam with joy. You truly were the only one that could bring his emotions to the surface.
