Dragging him into the bedroom you closed and locked the door behind you, no one would hear you here.

"Woah, what's-" L began, a bit caught off guard.

"Ok, I've been waiting for one of the kiras to mention it so you know I'm telling the truth. But shinigami exist" you said.

"Huh?"

"Well... ok long story but basically when I went into Light room to put the cameras up I must have touched something in there to do with the weapon he's using because later that day when we were watching him over the cameras, I could see a shinigami in there with him. That's why I freaked out because no one else could see it but me and definitely Light. That shinigami had been following Light the whole time, they talk to each other and everything. Whatever kiras power is, the shinigami gave it to him-" you began.

L gave you the most confused look. You sounded insane, but he'd just heard for himself the second Kira mention shinigami by name. So he knew you weren't lying, plus you'd never lie to him.

"-when you confronted Light at the entrance ceremony, I tried to talk to the shinigami and it worked. His name is Ryuk and he said he's not on anyone's side just watching, so he won't tell me what the weapon is and he won't tell Light I can see him. He's made that very clear and been adamant he's not taking sides. I don't know what I touched in Lights took that made me see Ryuk, but I know I touched something"

It was silent for a moment, L taking in that bomb that was just dropped on him.

"So... you're saying there's a shinigami in this building right now because Light is here? And no one but you and Light can see it?" He questioned.

"Yes, I know it sounds insane but you have to believe me! I could never see him before I went into Lights room. All my childhood, teen years and early adult years I've never seen any kind of hallucination, we're married we grew up together you know that. I walked into that room, put the cameras up, walked out and suddenly I could see Ryuk. And the second Kira mentioned shinigami in those tapes just then, daring the exist you hav-"

"Calm down I believe you, that's too elaborate and precise to be a lie or delusion. Plus, you'd never lie to me. I know that" L cut you off.

You sighed in relief. Thank god, he doesn't think you're insane and wants to file for divorce or something.

"That proves without any doubt Light is Kira. I mean a shinigami is following and talking to him? Do you have any idea what the weapon could be?" He asked.

"No clue. Ryuk has a little... bag thing hanging off his belt. I'm guessing he has one of whatever Light has in there but I can't touch him. If you try to touch him you go through him, plus he wouldn't let me get close enough to try and grab it" you explained.

"Did you touch anything weird in the room?"

"I don't know. Everything was completely normal, I have no idea what I touched to cause it. I did think it was strange he left his wallet behind but he was only at school so..."

L had gone into investigation mode, you'd get interrogated now. That was a detective habit he had.

"What was in it?"

"A couple yen, a bank card, his learners permit, a gift card, some paper and photo ID. I'm guessing he took his school ID and train card in his pockets to school" you replied.

"Paper... that's the only thing out if the ordinary. But it's paper, how can paper kill someone?"

"Exactly, I guessed it's in there as like a sticky note in case he needs to write something down like an IOU or whatever"

L was stumped. He has no idea what you could  have touched that made you see Ryuk.

"Did Ryuk give you a reason why he gave Light the power?" L asked.

Oh he did, but L wasn't going to like it.

"You won't like this but... he said he dropped it. Whatever the weapon is. Just tossed it down and whoever picked it up was complete chance. He said he did it because he was BORED"

"...that's it. He was bored"

"Yep"

L sighed in frustration and wanted to punch something in that moment. All this mess because some shinigami got bored? Unbelievable.

"So you're telling me that ANYONE could have picked it up and it just so happened to be a complete lunatic with a god complex?" He complained.

"Yeah"

"And it was only dropped in the first place because Ryuk was... BORED?"

"Yeah" you sighed.

"Un-fucking-believable"

L looked like he'd burst a vein with his calmly angry we was. All this because of complete chance? A whole genocide of criminals and innocent investors because of luck? Unbelievable.

"I can try and get information out of Ryuk if I keep tal-"

"What? No. Don't interact with him he's a death god. I'm not risking your life for the case you mean too much to me. I won't have you die on me" L cut you off, slightly panicked.

"Sweetheart calm down, Ryuks harmless. Like I said he made it clear he's just watching and not interfering. The second kiras shinigami that I can't see is what we need to worry about. Ryuk will literally do handstands if he doesn't get apples he's basically a toddler" You explained.

"He... does handstand if he doesn't get apples?"

"He claims it's withdrawal symptoms"

"... ok maybe Ryuk isn't a threat but still, be careful. I don't want some rogue death god taking you too soon" he said, placing his hands on your shoulders.

He gave you a concerned look, he didn't like the fact he couldn't watch what Ryuk was doing with you. And he also hated the fact neither you or him could see the second kiras shinigami meaning it could be anywhere at any given time.

"I am, I'm trying to protect you here. Nothing is done without caution, even Ryuk is careful to only talk to me when Lights not around so it doesn't spoil his fun" you replied.

L was hesitant, he didn't like the riskiness of the situation. But he knew you were strong, you were smart and you were protective of him. You could handle yourself, that's part of why he married you. He loved a good strong woman.

"...ok. Please just be careful" he said.

"I am, don't worry. I'm trying to figure it all out and maybe some way I can get you to see him too..." you replied. 

Placing a reassuring kiss on his lips, he felt a bit better about the situation. But your little romantic moment was interrupted.

"Well well, what a turn of events..."

You jumped, braking the kiss and looking up to find Ryuk standing behind L having just phased through the locked door. You yanked L into your arms and held him tightly and protectively away from Ryuk.

"JESUS FUCKING CHRIST RYUK DON'T SNEAK UP ON US YOU ASSHAT-" you exclaimed.

He just laughed at your reaction like it was the worlds best comedy act.

L looked up at where you were looking, not able to see anything.

"Don't laugh you dick, listening in again are we? You better not be spying on my husband" You said.

"Nah man, I'm just watching you all like a reality TV show remember? This is just one big play to me" Ryuk replied.

L couldn't see or hear him, only hearing your responses to whatever he was saying.

"(Y/n) you're telling me there's a literal death god right in front of us and I can't see him?" L said, a quiver of fear in his voice.

"Not to alarm you but yes" you replied.

L was timid in this situation. The idea of there being a looming figure he can't see scared h a bit.

"Wonderful" he said, sarcastically.

"He's gonna be on edge now huh?" Ryuk said.

"No thanks to you"

"Aw come on (y/n), I'm simply..."

Before you could stop him, he reached out to touch L and ruffled his hair, making L jump out of his skin as he could feel his hair be moved around. Ryuk laughed at his flinch and cowering into your arms.

"...watching"

"RYUK-" you snapped.

"Couldn't resist" he laughed.

That little shit-

You looked down at L, who looked like he'd seen a ghost. Pulling him closer toward you protectively you glared are Ryuk.

"Well... at least that proves to me he's real..." he stammered.
