Rows of tall and short conifers sprint past along with the sidewalk and crooked shadows loom over the car windows creating a vivid barricade between the light and shade. Accompanying them in this late quest are the unearthly howls and growls that keep getting louder and louder as the car drives deeper and deeper into the unknown.

The events from earlier are still a bunch of mysteries to you. A lady suddenly appearing in front of you out of nowhere and claiming to be your mother. Then her hugging you and you feeling this intense surge of emotions run through your entire body which you never did when you hugged your real mother. In fact, no one's touch ever made you feel such tingles before.

Things for you only got weirder after that. The woman started sobbing harder when you called her "omma". Then Taehyung tried to pull you away from her unnaturally strong embrace but she just lazily flicked her hand and the vampire went flying across the room, landing on one of the shelves, breaking it in the process.

You still remember the thunderous whine Taehyung let out on being thrown like that. You immediately pulled away from the hug and went to help him, though it was quite difficult for you to stifle the urge to laugh at the big bad vamp getting tossed away like a rag doll.

You don't know who she is yet, but she is giving you major mother vibes. And clearly, the lady is supernatural, probably a witch. If not, then she's got a lot of explaining to do.

Anyways, she, who you now know goes by the name Gae Chae-Won, requested, more like begged you to come with her to her humble abode at least once. And you, feeling this strange connection towards her, couldn't deny.

And that is exactly what leads you to your current situation where...

You are sitting in her car along with your vampire companion, who has been somewhat acting like a bodyguard since last night. You don't find yourself complaining though. Oddly enough, you remain quite calm about this entire ordeal. It is as if, you know deep within that whatever is happening is happening for a reason, a good one at that.

The silence through out the journey got you thinking though. She is a witch and you are the cure who is supposed to be born to a witch. It was particularly the only contradiction that kept you skeptical about all of this before. The parents you know and love are nowhere near supernatural. It was the only explanation that still made you believe in the supposed reality you had been living for years already. But, if you are really Chae-Won's daughter, then that reality goes tumbling down the gutter. The puzzle pieces will just fit themselves in, won't they?

A cure daughter born to a powerful witch mother, it all makes sense now. Are you happy about it making sense though, that's the main question!

After what felt like an eternity, the car finally stops in front of a shabby-looking tall cottage. It is basically a single-storey cabin, but a small window at a relatively high height confirms that it has a loft. The cabin may not have many floors but from the outside, it seems pretty spread out and spacious.

"Come on, dear" you hear the motherly voice call for you and you look at your side only to find that she has already made her way to the front porch. She smiles at you when you get out of the vehicle and lifts her hand towards you. She stretches her palm prompting you to place your hand on hers and so you do, reigniting the overwhelming sparks against both of your skin. Even the second time around it's still there, all weird and tingly, but never once did it feel uncomfortable.

With your fingers intertwined with hers, Chae-Won lays two subtle knocks on the door using her free hand. Almost immediately you hear footsteps rushing towards the door from inside the cabin. And soon the door is pulled away from your sight.

A middle-aged man pokes his head out through the crack between the door and the frame with an expectant smile gracing his thin, dark lips. The stubble on his cheeks is quite vivid and so are the wrinkles beside his eyes which are eminent consequences of his wide smile. His dark blue eyes lure around Chae-Won's face for a while, as if he is studying all the intricate details of the woman's appearance.

However, soon his gaze turns to you, and almost instantaneously, all the smiles and sweetness swivel away. Not that they are replaced with anything morbid. The man now holds in his eyes a yearning, a deep longing for something, or perhaps, someone.

Once again the sense of security washes over your every blood and every bone. The man whom you have never seen before somehow feels distinctly familiar and the house that you have never been in before suddenly feels like home.

"Y/N-aah-"

The word leaves his mouth like a mellow whisper. If not for the silence of the empty neighborhood, you wouldn't have heard him at all. He shows similar reactions as your supposed mother, and in a very subtle turn of events, you find yourself walking closer to him, right into his arms which are now wide open for you and you only.

"So, you are saying that you had to give her up? But why? What kind of parents give up their 3 months old child?"

Right now, Taehyung seems more like an investigator than your friendly neighborhood vampire, okay maybe not that friendly.

The four of you are comfortably sprawled across the living room carpet with a nice and warm cup of tea by three of your sides. Apparently, Taehyung is not in the mood of accepting tea from strangers. But somehow alcohol is fine. So, he has a cup of bourbon nicely tucked behind his fingers instead.

"I guess.......the unfortunate ones" Dak-Ho, your supposed father speaks up, a speck of despair quickly crossing his gaze. That tiny little speck has been back and forth innumerable times this evening, reason.....quite obvious.

"It killed us to give you up Y/N, but we had to" this time he turns to you. Very gently he clutches your pale hands in his tanned ones before squeezing ever so lightly, as if you were the most delicate thing he has ever held. His eyes show to you nothing but honesty and a good 90 percent of your brain wants to comprehend his side of the story. But that remaining 10 is still in a dilemma.

"Why?" it's you who asks the question, not because of skepticism but with genuine curiosity. If these two are truly who they claim to be, then you have a lot to learn about your own life.

"Because of the prophecy..."

The answer doesn't amuse you at all. It is not the first time that you heard about it. So, you kinda snap.

"What is this so-called prophecy I keep hearing about?" your voice comes out louder than you intended it to be. Nevertheless, no one seems too bothered about it. Those two finally found their lost daughter after 18 long years. Her tone of speaking is their least bit of concern right now.

"It's a lot of things. But most importantly, it's your story Y/N, the story of your past life, the reason behind your curing blood"

That you weren't expecting.
