Your Perspective - A/N's Narration

"Taehyung, can I ask you something?"

"No"

"How do you guys work? I mean how is a vampire's mechanism different from that of a human?"

"I believe I said 'NO'"

"Well I didn't listen.....now answer my question"

"Stop annoying me"

"Oh come on......teeeeeelllll"

"What if I don't?"

"Then I'll just keep asking you until your ears fall off"

"Ugh"

It's the next day and Taehyung is still as mysterious and grumpy as before. In these three days, there has not been a single incident where you two held a decent conversation. It's always you saying things and him replying with broken syllables or sometimes, nothing at all.

But you don't seem to mind that. Even if they are one-sided, you still seem to enjoy your occasional chats and exchanges. Maybe because you always feel like he is listening. Despite him refusing to respond, you feel like he is listening intently to each and every word you say. Nevertheless, you also enjoy the silent moments. Basically, his company alone intrigues you, you have no idea why.

A voice inside your head keeps telling you that Taehyungs isn't all rude and bitchy like he pretends to be. And certainly, he is not as sinful as you initially thought him to be. You know now, as a matter of fact that, he has a soft side somewhere tucked inside safely behind his tough shell. Otherwise, why would he let you stay with him and disrupt his usual lifestyle.

However, you don't know why he stays so cold and aloof all the time. But you're curious. There must be a story behind the frown that he always carries along with him, right? There are stories behind every frown. And you want to know his. You aren't going to ask him directly and infiltrate his personal space just yet, though. You barely know him. You can't just barge in like that.

So your plan for now is to try and be his friend. Though he would never accept it, you know deep down, he is in desperate need of one. His eyes scream of loneliness. As a friend, you'll try to make him feel listened, important. Then, if he gets comfortable enough, he might confide in you. But you are not looking forward to it cause you are not doing this for the outcome. Everyone deserves a friend whom they can count on and you hope to be that for him.

You know he is a dangerous vampire who brought you into this mess in the first place. But holding a grudge on him for that just doesn't feel right. There's some sort of connection, which you can't quite explain, but you know loud and clear that it's there. It's something that prevents you from ever being scared of him or mad at him.

Maybe like everything else happening lately, this connection is supernatural too?

"We have a special kind of blood running through our veins and arteries. It gives us all the powers we have" Taehyung shrugs as if it's the most normal thing he has ever said. His eyes stay rooted on the book in his left hand while the fingers of his right hold onto a pair of chopsticks, the other ends of which are dipped inside the bowl of ramen that you had just prepared for your host and yourself. Cooking for the both of you is your way of paying him for letting you lodge in.

The deep stare he showers on the pages makes it look as if the book is his lost soulmate who had gone missing in the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival long ago.

"How is this blood different from......normal blood?" you ask further, making the vampire let out a tired sigh. Clearly, this isn't a short question-answer session but an elaborate interview. Only God knows how long it is going to be before your thirst for answers finally quenches.

"It is the immortal blood. It is the blood that turned the first ever vampire and it's the same blood that runs through every vampire all over the world, no exception-"

"Really? But what's so special about it?"

"It has healing and regenerative properties, more so than humans'. It is what heals us quickly and keeps us immortal. But, it can't do the normal things that blood is supposed to do, like maintain body temperature and so on. It also lacks the necessary nutrients. Therefore, to function properly, we require human blood or that of any other non-supernatural creature. But yeah, humans are the most effective..."

All this while, Taehyung barely locks eyes with you despite yours being fastened on only him. There's some sort of weird feeling that he gets every time he looks into your eyes and even though he doesn't know what it is, he surely knows that he doesn't want such feelings in his life, not now, not ever.

It makes him feel fuzzy and lost and the last thing Taehyung wants to do is to get lost in some mere mortal's eyes. Yeah, that's right, you are just a mortal. You lack the strength to handle a blood sucking vampire. And that is why, Taehyung needs to draw his lines...

"Woah, I was expecting some kind of fantasy tale or something but this is like Science" you lay your chest above your folded hands on the dining table, now totally hooked on the topic. "How about-"

"Shut up, I'm not saying anything else"

Your lips close immediately as if a well-rehearsed reflex and for once do you comply with his demand. For now, you are satisfied with the minimum information you received. You'll probably squander the next few hours pondering about the abilities of this special blood and drafting stories in your head regarding its birth. But after that, Taehyung is doomed!

Amidst your already thriving thoughts, the baritone voice of Taehyung comes squirming to your ears like a distant hooter.

"I have to go" he abruptly stands up, making his chair slide back a few centimeters. His ramen bowl is now devoid of any strand of food, just the chopsticks are crinkling against the empty ceramic. Taehyung carries the cutlery to the sink while your curious eyes follow his every move.

"Where are you going?" you ask, staring at the back of the boy, who is now doing his fair share of dishes. A slight pang of fear pricks at your heart at the thought of you being alone.

What if Namjoon attacks? I am not strong enough to defend myself against that savage vamp! What if Taehyung leaves and never returns?

Can say that the little incident from earlier this week has left you quite angsty.

Several paranoia poke at your already bruised sanity until Taehyung's response puts some much-needed clarity in your head.

"Work" hanging the wet dish from the cabinet to let the water drip onto the sink, he makes his way out of the kitchen and heads for the room to get his coat. You continue to monitor his every move like a hawk to its prey.

"You work?" you bark, sounding utterly skeptical. Never have you ever read a vampire novel where the vampire actually works. They are always like some kind of filthy rich kings or some indifferent fuckboys who somehow have unlimited cash in their bank accounts. But this one actually works to earn a living? Seriously, what kind of vampire story is this?

"How else do you think I buy things like food and clothes?" Taehyung scoffs, ushering you to press your lips into a thin line.

"Where do you work?" you ask, trying to divert the topic that came up because of your stupidity in thinking that vampires come with never-ending riches by default, talk about stereotypes. In reality, they actually are very much like normal human beings, just a little pointy.

"In the library" Taehyung replies briefly before shoving his hands inside the coat's sleeves. The boredom in his voice is now quite vivid.

"Really? You work in a place that's full of people? But you hate people"

"I don't hate people. I just hate being around them" he once again lands you with a quick answer but this one manages to amuse you quite much.

"Wow, diplomacy" you comment with sarcasm prompting Taehyung to heave a defeated sigh. He mumbles something under his breath but thanks to the proximity, you make out his words rather clearly.

"They'd run away knowing I'm a vampire anyway" you hear him whisper. However, you're visibly taken aback when you also notice a freckle of emotion swiftly crossing his eyes before disappearing like it was never there. And that emotion was sadness.

Is Taehyung sad?

"I know you are a vampire but I didn't run away. Well I did at first, but I won't anymore..." you try to lighten the mood, not wanting to directly ask him about his troubles and trigger some insecurities that he might have. Nonetheless, he cuts you off.

"Doesn't matter, even if you stay, a time will come when you'll die and I'll be stuck here, in this never-ending loop of torture and grief" he retorts, masking his pain quite efficiently as if he's doing it for an eternity.

"In that case, I can give you some of my blood and you can cure yourself-" the thought of your priceless curing blood suddenly barges into your mind and you get all excited thinking you have heaved an awesome idea. But, perhaps not?

"You can't...."

"Why??"

Taehyung opens his mouth to say something but closes it shortly after, contemplating his response. He then speaks, coming up with a different answer of course.

"Why do you care --?" he skillfully dodges your question with one of his own but you don't pay much attention to it. Instead, your thoughts make a complete turn when you watch him stumble at the end of the sentence. He makes a face as if he was about to say something but he didn't know what. He shut his lips abruptly, eyes looking oblivious and distracted urging you to guess a supposed reason which you do.

"You don't yet know my name, do you?" you smirk, making the boy fidget in his position, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. Believe it or not, he is ashamed of being so closed off and distracted that he forgot to ask you for your name.

The question he previously put forward gets lost in the dense moment as you walk up to him with a wide grin before offering him your hand for a shake.

"Hi I am Y/N Wang"
