Monika: Raised by his grandfather, Yuji Itadori was an ordinary high school student with exceptional physical abilities. 

Junko: Yeah, you would think Yuji's life would be plain normal and bland right? That is until his Grandpa passed away, leaving a dying message for him to help others because he's a good kid... then shit starts happening! His friends get attacked by monsters, and he suddenly goes to eat a finger that gets him possessed by a demon!

Monika: Right, so let's step back a bit. What was attacking his friends wasn't an ordinary monster, but a Cursed Spirit, a race of spiritual beings invisible to humans, incarnated from the cursed energy that leaks out of humans over time due to their negative emotions.

Junko: Hate, fear, sorrow, despair, those are the types of things that bring monsters like this to life.

Monika: And the finger Yuji ate was no ordinary finger either. It was Sukuna's finger. One of the ten.

Junko: Ten? You mean like all of his fingers and toes?

Monika: Nope, Sukuna had four arms and therefore has ten fingers.

Junko: Ah, kinda like Machamp!

Monika: Ryomen Sukuna was a demon and the strongest Sorcerer from over a thousand years ago. The fact that Yuji could resist his control with only one of his fingers was both a blessing and a curse.

Junko: Especially when everyone's favorite white-haired mentor came and gave him two options. Either he dies right away, or he becomes a JuJutsu Sorcerer, eats the rest of Sukuna's fingers, and dies after that, taking Sukuna with him. Yeah, I think I'd take the one that lets me live a little bit longer, thank you very much.

Monika: And so he did, vowing to make sure everyone could at least have a normal proper death and not one of murder and regret. Luckily for him, he was a JuJutsu expert.

Monika: Yuji is quite powerful even without the usage of cursed energy, as he can destroy walls with ease, throw a lead ball with enough force to bend a soccer goalpost, and even throw a car. He can augment his strength even further with Cursed Energy and can even harm Hanami and Choso, two curses who have remarkable durability and toughness with the former being near-impossible to damage. During his fight with Sukuna, Yuji jumped twenty stories from two buildings to reach Sukuna after the latter took control of Megumi's body. 

Junko: He's fast too! Finishing a 50-meter track within 3 seconds implies he can run at speeds of 60.02 km/h or 37.3 mph! He's also been shown to dodge the attacks of all five opposing sorcerers from the students from Kyoto Jujutsu High who tried to murder him. He's fast enough to evade Choso's Piercing Blood, which travels at the speed of sound, proving he has superb reflexes. And during Yuji and Maki's fight against Sukuna while possessing Megumi, Yuji was able to keep up with their magnificent speed and reflexes while being grievously wounded from his previous battle.

Monika: Yuji's durability also surpasses your average JuJutsu Sorcerer. He was able to continuously take hits from Choso during their fight and even Piercing Blood, an attack moving at the speed of sound didn't pierce Yuji immediately. He was also able to withstand numerous attacks from Mahito in his Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing form and continue fighting. After Sukuna took control over Megumi's body, he punched Yuji through multiple buildings and Yuji survived that, and afterward was able to fight him and even survived Sukuna relentlessly attacking him with Dismantle and kept fighting him with Maki's help.

Junko: Yeah, he may not be the brightest but he's definitely got skill!

Junko: Oh who am I kidding? Yuji is a curious person and an earnest student. He's incredibly skilled at progressing, being quick at Satoru's Movie Appreciation Training, and realizing Aoi Todo's advice quickly. According to Akutami, he is the best at cooking among the first years trio. He was able to master using martial arts alongside cursed energy and honed it to a level with which he could take on Special Grade curses. He was even able to use Black Flash four times in a row a short time after he had even learned of its existence.

Monika: Another testament to his development was his growing understanding of cursed energy within just a month prior to his battle against Sukuna, aside from drastically improving his cursed energy reinforcement techniques, Yuji managed to grasp the complex nature of reverse cursed technique and learned how to use and perform it efficiently to heal himself.

Junko: Oh yeah, and since he's Sukuna's host, Yuji has shown to be resistant to all kinds of poison. And while he doesn't always use a blade in combat, he is quite skilled with one.

Monika: Yuji mostly uses his cursed energy for martial arts, allowing him to use plenty of different techniques. As stated earlier, he can heal himself using  Reverse Curse Technique. He's also got an Anti-Domain Technique called the New Shadow Style: Simple Domain. This allows him to disable a domain's guaranteed-hit effect by neutralizing its barrier. 

Junko: But his signature technique is his Divergent Fist!

Junko: The impact of Yuji's cursed energy initially lagged behind his physical strength which caused his opponents to experience two impacts from a single punch!

Monika: After Yuji's fight with Aoi Todo at the Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event and the Kyoto third-year's critique of this attack, he stopped being able to use it as his manipulation of cursed energy improved. However, after his fight with Choso during the Shibuya Incident, he has been able to control Divergent Fist.

Junko: And then there's his other attack, the Black Flash!

Junko: A phenomenon that creates a spatial distortion when a user connects an impact of cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit, causing cursed energy to flash black, creating a more potent attack to the power of 2.5 of a normal hit. Currently, Yuji is capable of using Black Flash seven times in a row and has performed it a total of seventeen times!

Monika: But wait, there's more. After absorbing Cursed Womb: Death Painting No. 4-9, Yuji was engraved with Blood Manipulation, the inherited technique of the Kamo Clan. Using this innate technique, Yuji can manipulate his own blood.

Junko: But due to Yuji's inexperience, he's not very good at it. Regardless, he can still use a move he took from Sukuna himself, Shrine!

Monika: Right. landing a Black Flash against Sukuna, the awakened state brought forth by the phenomenon drew out Sukuna's own cursed technique that was engraved in Yuji, albeit with some differences. Unlike Sukuna, Yuji creates dashed lines with scissors on anything he touches that are subsequently cut along those lines. Due to only recently awakening the technique, Yuji's output for the technique is low.

Junko: But at least he can still use Dismantle!

Junko: Shrine's default slashing attack that can be used against cursed spirits and sorcerers to great effectiveness. Though, unlike Sukuna, Yuji can only deliver this attack through physical contact. Using a binding vow, Yuji increased the technique's effectiveness at separating souls by narrowing its target to the boundary between Sukuna and Megumi's soul.

Monika: Speaking of Binding Vows, Yuji actually made one... or rather he was forced to make one with Sukuna himself!

Monika: After Yuji lost control of Sukuna and nearly died, Sukuna agreed to bring him back to life under two conditions. One, Yuji would allow Sukuna to take over his body for one full minute when the cursed spirit would chant "Enchain". And two, He would forget about the agreement.

Junko: Which he did. But this allowed Sukuna to take access to Yuji's body and enter the battle when he pleased. And Sukuna is one of if not the strongest curse out there for a reason!

Monika: Right, even at his weakest, Sukuna can take on the best that stand in his way.

Junko: You'll find it pretty difficult to find someone who can actually beat him. Unless we're talking about someone really powerful, like G- ...Oh wait...

Monika: Sukuna can do everything Yuji can do but much better. Even healing lost limbs or his own heart is nothing special. Though as long as he's in control, he doesn't really need a heart to survive.

Junko: With his immeasurable amounts of Cursed Energy, Sukuna can use both the Black Flash and Shrine techniques. He can even use Dismantle. And by using Mahoraga's second adaptation to Limitless as a model, Sukuna learned to enhance Dismantle by extending its target area to the world itself, transforming them into "slashes that cut the world"!

Monika: Sukuna also has a technique called Cleave.

Monika: A slashing attack that adjusts itself depending on the target's toughness and cursed energy level to cut them down in one fell swoop. Unless used in his domain expansion, Sukuna must make physical contact with the target in order to activate Cleave.

Junko: But don't worry, he's also got an additional technique called Spider Web.

Junko: Sukuna can utilize the Cleave technique in the shape of a spider's web by touching the ground. As a variation of Cleave, Spiderweb adjusts itself to the surroundings' toughness, collapsing the ground in one fell swoop!

Monika: After this is his Divine Flame.

Monika: Sukuna can create and manipulate fire for long-range attacks by chanting "Open" and forming an arrow. This technique can only be used after he performs Dismantle and Cleave. The firepower of these flames exceeds Jogo's, an unregistered special-grade curse whose defining trait involves extremely destructive pyrokinetic powers.

Junko: Too bad it's slow with a narrow range. Because of this, he made another that restricted him from using Divine Flame when outnumbered unless inside his domain. In return, Malevolent Shrine's cursed technique is expanded, imbuing all the pulverized substances within it with the same explosive cursed energy as Divine Flame, which he contains within the domain by altering the barrier's specifications to restrict entry and exit for everything other than living creatures.

Monika: We'll get to his Domain in a second, but first we should discuss his two Anti-Domain Techniques. His first one is the Domain Amplification, which envelops Sukuna in his own domain in the form of an aura around himself. Sukuna uses this technique to neutralize Gojo's Limitless technique and thus is capable of physical contact with him. His finesse with domain amplification allows him to keep it active while using his domain expansion, as well as use it in quick intervals to interrupt and resume Mahoraga's adaptation instead of nullifying its effect

Junko: Then there's the Hollow Wicker Basket, an anti-domain technique that is the predecessor to Simple Domain. It erects a basket-shaped barrier that neutralizes a domain's barrier to nullify its guaranteed-hit factor.

Monika: But of course, for what we've all been waiting to talk about, Sukuna's Domain Expansion... Malevolent Shrine.

Monika: Sukuna's domain expansion creates a Buddhist shrine decorated with skulls. Everything within the domain is relentlessly slashed with either Dismantle or Cleave, depending on its cursed energy level.

Junko: But Malevolent Shrine also has a unique trait. You see, it doesn't create a separate space using a barrier and is instead manifested into the surrounding airspace. By allowing an escape route, a binding vow is formed which vastly increases the guaranteed hit's effective area with a maximum radius of nearly 200 meters!

Monika: Of course, Sukuna does have a lot more in his arsenal. But that comes from when he left Sukuna and possessed Megumi's body instead.

Junko: Once he gets his own Death Battle we can go over everything. But even with Sukuna, Yuji isn't unbeatable.

Junko: Yuji is rather inexperienced in the world of jujutsu, still learning and developing his techniques and understanding of cursed energy, which may sometimes leave him at a disadvantage against more seasoned opponents. 

Monika: He also has limited control over Sukuna and is constantly at risk of being possessed by the malicious spirit, potentially endangering himself and others around him.

Junko: But Sukuna isn't out of the loop just yet either. Like all sorcerers, their control of Curse Energy comes from their gut, thus destroying their gut or brain completely can stop them from using cursed energy and Reverse Cursed Technique. One can target the neck to stop the application of Reversed Cursed Techniques as well. 

Monika: But even with all of this, Sukuna is still the strongest there is and Yuji will continue to prove himself and become... better.

Yuji: You're right... Mahito. I'm you. I wanted to reject you. Convincing myself that you were wrong. But that doesn't matter now. I'm gonna kill you. Even if you come back as another curse... I'll kill you. Change your name. Change your form. I'll kill you again. I don't need to find a meaning or reason. Maybe a hundred years after my death, the meaning behind my actions will become apparent. In the grand scheme of things... I'm probably nothing more than a cog. But I'll keep killing curses... for as long as I can. That's my role in all this.
