Monika: On one of Saturn's Moons, there lived a race of beings called the Eternals, offshoots of mankind who were created by the divine Celestials to defend all of humanity against their counterparts, the Deviants. In their near-millennia-long war against each other, interbreeding between the two rival factions was far and between, but soon there came an Eternal child who bore Deviant genes.

Junko: Yeah, this kid was so hideous, his own mother went insane and tried to kill him!

Monika: In reality, she foresaw that the universe itself would be wiped out by his hands. Little did she know that her nightmares would soon be realized as her son would grow into the very monster that all of existence should fear, his name forever being etched in the annals of history as... Thanos.

Junko: You know how it is with these Marvel heavy hitters, right? Yeah, to nobody's surprise, Thanos is an absolute beast! The guy's strong enough to punch Mar-Vel from Saturn's Moon all the way back to Earth! He's shrugged off attacks from the Silver Surfer, one-shot the Thing, and has gone toe-to-toe with Marvel's heavy hitters like The Incredible Hulk and Thor on multiple occasions!

Monika: Thanos is tough enough to match Odin in combat, who's strong enough to level Galaxies with a single attack. He's shrugged off hits from Black Bolt, survived a blast from Galactus, and even fought Drax on multiple occasions, a being literally born to kill him. Their battle destroyed an entire planet and Thanos still won.

Junko: One time he absorbed the Rot, a Universal threat that rots away anything it touches. When he released the energy, the entire universe screamed! We're talking about a guy who was inside a Black Hole that was four light years in diameter and casually brings it up in conversations like it's nothing! 

Monika: His giant size doesn't slow him down either. He can easily keep up with the Silver Surfer, stopped Thor's hammer mid-flight, and even the Fallen One, another cosmic being, tried to blitz him only to be stopped with a wave of his hand.

Junko: But the most dangerous part of Thanos is his mind.

Junko: This guy has outsmarted some pretty powerful people like the In-Betweener and the Grandmaster. He's even made fools out of the likes of Silver Surfer and Mephistos. He's outsmarted Earth's Heroes on multiple occasions, making Bruce Banner look like a genius by Human standards only. He doesn't always like to get physical, but he's no slouch to martial arts either, even training Gamora, the most dangerous woman in the universe!

Monika: Thanos is a genius in virtually all known fields of advanced science and has created technology far exceeding contemporary Earth science. In a short time, he was able to make a device that could destroy stars and mathematically ascertain the existence of the Heart of the Universe. He's even created clones of himself, one of which was Omega who matched if not surpassed the power of Galactus.

Junko: He also made a Stasis Rifle that traps his foes in a physical cube, but he no longer needs it. 

Monika: What he does have, though, is his Techno-Mystical Chair.

Monika: A floating chair he likes to sit around in. 

Junko: Why would he need that when he has two other forms of flight? He can fly with or without his armor or he can just ride his sweet Thanoscopter. 

Monika: Well, this chair has two of its own functions. First, it allows him to teleport himself and other people. Even letting him travel through time. The second function takes the form of three different energy shields.

Junko: These shields are capable of easily being able to protect himself from Thor with the Power Gem and Mjølnir. They're also capable of shielding him from other cosmic-level beings such as the Silver Surfer using the Power Cosmic and an extremely angry Galactus.

Monika: Thanos doesn't need to be on his throne to use these functions, but he does need to make sure the throne isn't destroyed for them to work.

Junko: But his greatest ability is his power to manipulate energy!

Junko: Yeah, he's quite literally one of the strongest users of energy manipulation in the Marvel Universe. It's also his main form of attack in combat. He can project energy as a concussive force that is easily capable of knocking cosmic-level beings such as Drax the Destroyer out. He can also use infrared eye beams to defeat beings such as Thor and the Thing, as well as fire out his energy as an area of effect-style attack. He can even fire it as a focused beam-style attack which was capable of easily knocking away Galactus, who was well-fed at the time.

Monika: He can use this power to increase the power of his strikes, heal other people including cosmic-level beings, increase the power of others, or even imprison others. Though that last one can be broken out of.

Junko: He can even control your very Life Force!

Monika: Right, can absorb other people's life force to increase his own power or use it to heal himself. He can also transfer lifeforce onto other people, making them even more powerful.

Junko: His control over energy is so strong, it's even been speculated that the nature of Thanos' cosmic energy reserve may be quasi-mystical.

Monika: Not surprising. After all, Thanos is no stranger to the Mystic Arts.

Monika: With this ability, Thanos is perfectly capable of casting spells and curses, like when he cursed Deadpool to be forever immortal as well as when he created a curse that made Moondargon become infested with insects. Like many mystic arts users before him, he is also capable of entering the astral plane, but unlike a lot of mystic arts users, he can do so with his physical body.

Junko: And if he couldn't possibly be more busted, he even has telepathy.

Monika: Thanos is one of the strongest telepaths in the Marvel universe, being able to mentally influence or go into some of the strongest minds around. He's capable of defeating other extremely strong telepaths such as Moondragon, completely destroying minds as shown with Pip the Troll or Drax the Destroyer, as well as using his telepathy to mentally control people as shown with the Hulk when he tried to manipulate him to fight the Avengers.

Junko: This is the same guy who can control matter at the atomic level even without the gems, allowing him to turn you to stone without a second thought. He can even use his powers to create objects, though he doesn't use that ability very often. The guy even has his own Healing Factor.

Monika: Well, it's more like he was banned from dying.

Junko: I'm sorry, what?

Monika: Right, so to make a long story short, back when Thanos was still a child he met Death. Not just some girl with the name called Death, but the literal embodiment of Death itself. And for some reason, Thanos instantly fell in love with her.

Junko: Well, I mean, who wouldn't?

Monika: Well, Death didn't exactly return his feelings. In fact, she was so displeased that she banned his soul from ever entering the Land of the Dead.

Junko: Damn, she swiped left hard on that one.

Monika: Of course, this doesn't mean he was completely immune to dying. But even if you do kill him, he'll just come back later through resurrection.

Junko: Well, even before this curse, he was already immune to all sorts of diseases and had a healing factor that let him survive getting vaporized into nothing but bones.

Monika: He also didn't give up his love for Death. After realizing he needed to prove himself worthy of her love, Thanos decided to give her the gift of slaughtering half the life in the entire universe.

Junko: Wait, wouldn't that be more work on her though?

Monika: Why do you think she keeps turning him down? Anyway, to do this, Thanos would use the most powerful tool in his arsenal, the Infinite Gauntlet.

Monika: The Infinity Gauntlet was designed to hold six of the 'soul gems', better known as the Infinity Gem or Stones. These gems give the user extraordinary power capable of easily destroying an entire universe once they are used all together.

Junko: Individually each stone can do pretty much what their name implies. The Power Gem Increased the user's strength and durability and increased their energy manipulation power. Thanos' energy manipulation powers became so powerful that he was able to carve his own face onto a planet, as well as being powerful enough to easily destroy multiple planets at once. He can also use the Power Gem to easily kill cosmic-level beings as shown after one-shotting both Drax the Destroyer and the Silver Surfer. It also supplies the other gems with its power.

Monika: While with the Power Gem, he was easily able to decimate Richard Rider and Thor, Quasar, Namor and She-Hulk, and Cloak. 

Junko: With the Time Gem, Thanos has complete control over time, speeding it up, slowing it down, or stopping it altogether, as well as time travel and being able to see the past and the future. The Time Gem's powers are so great that they can beat Kronos, the god of time.

Monika: With the Space Gem, Thanos can manipulate space around him, giving him the ability to go anywhere in the universe within the blink of an eye as well as being able to interfere with the motion of other objects. The Space Gem also gives him complete omnipresence, meaning he can be anywhere at any time.

Junko: With the Soul Gem, Thanos can attack a person's soul as well as steal it for himself to use or to control them. And with the Reality Gem, Thanos can manipulate all of reality, even more than cosmic-level beings such as Mistress Death. He can also use the reality gem to completely warp and distort a person's atomic structure.

Monika: And finally, the Mind Gem gives Thanos complete control over the mind, greatly enhancing his psionic abilities while also giving him new ones such as empathy and large-scale telekinesis. He can also use the Mind Gem to enter other people's minds.

Junko: And when these babies are put together, they're even stronger than when they're apart! Allowing Thanos to pull off his most infamous feat, killing half the entire universe! He even used these gems to take on guys like Sire Hate, Chaos, Kronos, Mephisto, One Above All, Eon, Galactus, Ziran, Order, Stranger & Mistress Love! All beings capable of destroying galaxies, and possibly the entire universe! And Thanos beat them all! He was able to face off against the physical embodiment of the universe, Eternity, and won!

Monika: But despite the infinite power of the Infinite Gems, they do have their limit and so does Thanos.

Junko: Thanos is quite overconfident, especially for someone who subconsciously allows himself to lose. It doesn't really stop him from kicking ass though. He's also rather overconfident and despite his immense power, he isn't completely immune to being killed as shown with the likes of Drax the Destroyer, Gamora with the Power Stone, and Emperor God Doom.

Monika: It also really doesn't help that the Infinity Stones only work in their own universe, so he can't pop into another universe and use the same ones there.

Junko: But that's still not stopping this Avatar of Death. Over many years, Thanos has committed genocide after genocide on a scale hitherto unheard of... millions of lives snuffed out either by his hand, his adoptive children in the Black Order, or the massive space armada he has commanded. To make a long story short, those who wish to be the Mad Titan's next challenger must truly be mad enough themselves, unless they want to witness a power that is next to none in any universe.

Thanos: Am I not Thanos?! Did I not butcher the woman who gave me birth, who forced me into this hell called life? Is not the wake of my passing crimson with the blood of my enemies and allies alike?! Death is with me every second of the day!
