Junko: Magical Girls... they may seem nice, girly, and pretty on the outside, but they can always have a dark twist on the inside.

Monika: Like Sailor Moon, the Sailor Guardian of... well Sailor Moon.

Junko: And Madoka Kaname, the embodiment of hope in Madoka Magica.

Monika: The stage is set and the combatants are ready.

Junko: It's time for a Pretty Magical Girl Death Battle!

It was a bright and sunny day in the City of Tokyo. Usagi's alarm went off as she dashed out of the house with toast in her mouth.

Usagi: Crap crap crap! Luna, why didn't you wake me up? Now I'm gonna be late!

She suddenly stopped when she spotted another strange-looking cat in front of her. It was Kyubey.

Kyubey: A magical girl? But you're not one of mine. 

Usagi: Huh? (There's something weird about this cat...)

She takes a step forward but Kyubey runs off.

Usagi: Hey! Wait!

She chased the cat across the neighborhood before bumping into Madoka.

Usagi/Madoka: Ow...

Usagi: Hey, watch where you're going.

Madoka: S-Sorry.

Kyubey quickly hid behind Madoka.

Usagi: Is that cat yours? Listen, you have to hand it over. That cat is pure evil!

Madoka: What? No, Kyubey changed, I swear!

Usagi: Listen to me, it's only using you!

Madoka: Sorry, but I won't let you hurt Kyubey!

She quickly took out her Soul Gem and transformed.

Madoka watched as Usagi's transformation sequence began. Usagi had turned into Sailor Moon.

Madoka: Whoa...

Sailor Moon: I am the Pretty Guardian who Fights for Love and for Justice. I am Sailor Moon! And now In the name of the moon, I will punish you!

Madoka snapped out of it and quickly summoned her staff. The two girls quickly dashed at each other.

Sailor Moon: Sailor Moon Kick!

Madoka: Magical Staff!

Madoka swung her staff as Sailor Moon went for a powerful kick and they both clashed as Sailor Moon managed to knock Madoka back. But Madoka recovered and her staff grew in size.

Madoka: Twinkle Staff!

She swung it and Sailor Moon went to block as Madoka smashed her into a nearby building. As the staff returned to normal, Sailor Moon fell to her knees and Madoka started charging up an attack.

Madoka: Super Staff!

She dashed at her and went for a powerful strike, but Sailor Moon rolled out of the way, causing the building to crumble. Sailor Moon then stood straight to her feet.

Sailor Moon: Moon Twilight Flash!

She fired a ginormous beam of energy from her tiara. Madoka saw this coming and created a barrier around her to block the attack, but was still sent through multiple buildings. She slid on her feet and looked up to see Sailor Moon coming down for another kick. 

Madoka: Magical Staff!

She swings her staff again and knocks Sailor Moon back, who slides on her feet as her body inflates like a balloon and she charges at her.

Madoka: Pannier Rocket!

Sailor Moon: Sailor Body Attack!

Sailor Moon leaps at her and strikes with her elbows. The two clashed and created a shockwave of light before flying into the air. Madoka's body returned to normal and her staff turned into a bow. They land on separate buildings and she immediately aims it.

Madoka: Spread Shot!

She fired an arrow that split into multiple. Sailor Moon jumped from building to building in order to dodge them. She then grabbed her tiara.

Sailor Moon: Moon Tiara Boomerang!

She threw her tiara like a boomerang as it turned the projectiles into dust. Madoka quickly dodged as the tiara flew back towards Sailor Moon who caught it. 

Sailor Moon: Let's try that again!

Madoka: No! Starlight Arrow!

Madoka fired off multiple, highspeed arrows in Sailor Moon's direction. Usagi quickly blocks them with a barrier.

Sailor Moon: Geh, there's too many of them.

She pulled out her Moon Rod and held it up high.

Sailor Moon: Moon Princess Halation!

She fired a beam of light, destroying all the arrows in its path. Madoka saw this and quickly turned her bow back into a staff.

Madoka: White Light of Salvation!

She forced a light beam of her own and the two clashed, creating a massive explosion that knocked the two back and sent them crashing into the ground. Madoka jumped back to her feet, turning her staff back into a bow and charging a powerful arrow.

Madoka: Twinkle Arrow!

She fired a giant arrow in Usagi's direction. Right before it could hit her, Sailor Moon teleported behind Madoka. As Madoka quickly turned her bow into a staff and swung it, Sailor Moon swung her Moon Rod and they both clashed, causing Madoka to be knocked back again. 

Sailor Moon: (Come on, stay down. I don't want to hurt you.)

Despite her pleas, Madoka stood back up, aiming her bow again, aiming it at the sky.

Sailor Moon: What are you-

Madoka: Magical Squall!

She fired an arrow at the sky and moments later, more magical arrows started raining down. Sailor Moon was forced to create a barrier to block them all. She was slowly losing her strength but managed to aim her Moon Rod.

Sailor Moon: Moon Spiral Heart Attack!

She unleashed an omnidirectional blast of hearts at Madoka, who tried to block them but it was no use as she was sent flying back. She was knocked into a building as more and more magical blasts started to overwhelm her.

Madoka: No... stop...

A giant heart was about to crash right into her.

Madoka: LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

A huge burst of power emerged from her Soul Gem as a huge wave of black liquid unleashed upon the city.

Sailor Moon: Huh?!

Usagi teleported onto a large building, dodging the giant wave. Once she looked up, the entire city was flooded with black liquid, and in the middle of it all was Madoka, sleeping peacefully in her Soul Gem.

Sailor Moon: No... it can't be...

She watched in horror as people in the black sea got absorbed by it. She then looked up as a monstrous witch emerged from the liquid. This was Kriemhild Gretchen. Sailor Moon quickly aimed her Moon Rod, but she suddenly felt a massive headache as soon as a Witch's Kiss appeared on her neck.

Sailor Moon: Geh! What is this?

She started hearing voices in her head.

"What do you think you're doing?!"

"You're worthless!"

"You should just die!"

Usagi was on her knees, trying to silence the voices in her head. She looks up to see people with the same Withc's Kiss jumping off high buildings and into the black sea.

Sailor Moon: No!

She tries to fly after them, but Gretchen swings a massive arm at her, sending her crashing through multiple buildings and landing on a sinking one. She was on her hands and knees as the Witch's familiars emerged from the liquid.

"Now look what you've done!"

"They died because of you!"

"Disappear already"

"You're worthless!"

"Just die already!"

Sailor Moon: Stop... no... I can't take it anymore...

As the familiars grew closer, Gretchen reached out to grab her.

Sailor Moon: Stop... no... WAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

Usagi suddenly let out powerful, Supersonic Waves. They were so strong that they destroyed most of the familiars and even caused damage to Kriemhild Gretchen, creating a small crack in the Soul Gem Madoka was sleeping in. One of the familiars tried to lunge at her to shut her up, but a rose pierced straight through it. Usagi stopped as she saw the rose and the disappearing familiar.

Sailor Moon: Huh?

As soon as Usagi stops crying and sees the rose, she quickly looks up to see a man wearing a Tuxedo and a Mask standing on top of a faraway building.

Sailor Moon: Tuxedo Mask!

Tuxedo Mask: Usako! You can't let this thing get in your head! Everyone is counting on you, don't let it win! You are Sailor Moon!

Gretchen went to strike at him, but he quickly jumped off the building and into another. Before Gretchen could destroy that building, he jumped out. He tried to make his exit, but the Witch had already slammed him into the black liquid, slowly absorbing him.

Sailor Moon: Mamoru!

The Witch then went to face Sailor Moon again, only this time, the Sailor Guardian stood up with a more confident look on her face as Gretchen threw a whole building at her.

Sailor Moon: Moon Princess Halation!

She fired a massive beam of light that completely obliterated the building and nearly struck Medoka herself. Sailor Moon then flew into the sky and held her Moon Rod up high.

Sailor Moon: Moon Healing Escalation!

Her wand shined brightly and made all the black goo disappear, freeing everyone from the Witches Kiss in the process. Sailor Moon landed on a building and looked down as Madoka was sleeping soundly in her Soul Gem. However, Kriemhild Gretchen was beginning to emerge once more.

Sailor Moon: Oh no you don't!

Gretchen slowly started growing in size, but Sailor Moon quickly jumped off the building and summoned the Holy Grail.

Sailor Moon: Moon Crisis Make Up!

The transformation was quick as Sailor Moon went from her normal form into Super Sailor Moon. She then aimed her newly formed Moon Kalido Scope at the sky.

Sailor Moon: Rainbow Moon Heartache!

Before Gretchen could get any bigger, Sailor Moon unleashed a tornado of hearts that quickly engulfed the witch and immediately destroyed her. But as she did, the sleeping Madoka began summoning more familiars. These ones took a nightmarish form of Madoka herself. But Sailor Moon didn't back down. Madoka slowly started to wake up as Sailor Moon went for another attack.

Sailor Moon: Moon Gorgeous Meditation!

Suddenly, all of them were trapped in a glass dimension before Sailor Moon unleashed a powerful blast of energy that shattered their time-space and completely engulfed them. The Soul Gem shattered and Madoka was immediately engulfed in the bright light, but as soon as her body was vaporized, the glass dimension shattered and was replaced with a whole new dimension.

Sailor Moon: What? Where am I?

She looks up to see Madoka in the center of this new world, far more powerful than the one Sailor Moon fought so far. This Madoka was one you could only call a God.

Madoka: This place is the Law of Cycles, a heaven for all Magical Girls separate from the entire multiverse. I'm sorry, Sailor Moon, but your story ends today.

Sailor Moon: We'll see about that!

Usagi aimed her Kalido Stick but was immediately caught and wrapped in ribbons.

Sailor Moon: Geh! What the?!

Madoka: Goodbye, Usagi.

Madoka then summoned hundreds of swords and fired them all off at Sailor Moon, but Sailor Moon quickly unleashed a massive shockwave around her, breaking out of the ribbons and knocking all of the swords away.

Sailor Moon: Moon Eternal, Make Up!

She transformed once more, this time growing wings of her own and turning into Eternal Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon: You're wrong. My journey has just begun. And it starts with the friends I've made along the way! Silver Moon Crystal Power, Make Up!

Usagi's power increased even further. Her wings grew in size as she summoned her Eternal Tiara. Both of them created mist around them to camouflage themselves before Sailor Moon charged at her first.

Sailor Moon: Take this!

She swung a whip made of light and Madoka created a barrier to block it, knocking Usagi back before firing off multiple spears and swords. Sailor Moon quickly recovered and started dodging them before unleashing a massive energy blast of fire and electricity. Madoka saw this and teleported behind her, swinging her bow as Usagi turned around and swung her tiara. The two clashed and shook the entire dimension before knocking each other back. 

Sailor Moon: Starlight Honeymoon, Therapy Kiss!

As feathers flew around Madoka, Sailor Moon created a time-space vortex that locked Madoka in place. She then emanated the power of the entire Solar System as well as the power of the Silver Crystal to create a blast that vaporized Madoka into dust. But as soon as she did, more Madoka appeared, all of them firing their arrows. Usagi quickly flew around dodging them before they lunged at her.

Sailor Moon: Silver Moon Crystal Power, Therapy Kiss!

She unleashed another bright light and vaporized all of them, but she knew it wasn't done.

Sailor Moon: Where are you Madoka?! Show yourself!

Madoka: Up here...

Usagi looks up and her eyes widen as she sees the real Madoka, a conceptual being bigger than the universe itself.

Sailor Moon: No way...

Madoka summoned her bow and aimed it.

Madoka: Shooting Star!

With her power, she fired an infinite number of magical arrows. Sailor Moon summoned a barrier to try and block them all. The barrier was slowly breaking as some even stabbed through and cut Sailor Moon's body, but she was healing through the damage.

Sailor Moon: Geh... I am... the Sailor Guardian... who fights for love and for justice... I am Sailor Moon! And in the name of the moon, I'll punish you!

She flew straight up, letting all the arrows phase right through her and she reached out towards Madoka.

Sailor Moon: Silver Moon Crystal, Eternal Power!

Using the power of all the Sailor Guardians, Sailor Moon shined brightly with a light that engulfed Madoka.

Madoka: Geh! What... What is this...

She could feel herself being torn apart as she tried to undo all the damage.

Madoka: No... stop... it hurts... AAAAAAAH!!!

She screams in agony as her very concept is reduced to nothingness. Sailor Moon smiled with a tear in her eye as she started to turn to dust as well, but once she opened them up again, she was back in Tokyo in her base form. She looked around as everything was back to normal, as if nothing had happened.

Usagi: Is it... over?

Madoka's bow was floating down and Usagi caught it. She held on to it.

Usagi: ... I'm sorry...

She then carried it around and went back to her peaceful life.

Junko: Well now, this one is definitely going in the record books as one of our favorites. Still what the hell just happened?

Monika: Right, this was a pretty close fight. In their base forms, Sailor Moon held all the advantages in speed, strength, and power. But all of that changes when Madoka turns into a God.

Junko: Yeah, and once Sailor Moon goes into her Eternal Transformation, they're both pretty much on equal playing fields. Even their abilities are similar. Both can control time and space on a multiversal level, control elements, use the power of all the Magical girls that came before them, and the list goes on and on. 

Monika: But there are a few things they had that the other didn't. And for Sailor Moon that's experience dealing with beings like Madoka. 

Junko: Yeah, Madoka is a conceptual being that would be nearly untouchable to just about anyone... almost anyone

Monika: Madoka isn't completely omnipotent. She's nigh-omnipotent at best and even then, she has been tricked in the past by lesser beings like Kyubey and has even had her very concept rewritten and reset by none other than Homura meaning someone of equal or greater power can still affect her.

Junko: Someone like Sailor Chaos, another multiversal conceptual being who could erase everything from existence with a touch on the conceptual level. And someone who Sailor Moon defeated in her Eternal transformation.

Monika: Madoka was defiantly a powerful being with endless years of experience under her belt, and she was defiantly not going down easily, but Sailor Moon's own experience and power helped her get the overall win in this battle.

Junko: Looks like Madoka couldn't sail to the moon and left Usagi with a Magica victory.

Monika: The winner is Sailor Moon.

Both get their powers from a magic inner artifact (Star Seed / Soul Gem) and by the end of their series, they become goddesses thanks to the power of love.
