Monika: Magic is a lost art in the world of BlazBlue. With people drawing from its effects with the use of Ars Magus, very few are actually talented at magic, let alone sorcery, its highest form. This is why people who excel at sorcery are feared as some of the most terrifying warriors in this world, and very few people exemplify that fact as much as the dread mage of the Six Heroes, the sorceress Nine the Phantom.

Junko: Hey Kokonoe, your mom's here!

Kokonoe: *In the background* Shut up, Junko...

Monika: Born Konoe Ayatsuki Mercury, Nine was supposed to live a life of relative normalcy. However, a strained relationship with her father was only the beginning of what would drive Konoe away from that normalcy. Despite excelling in the magic arts and being offered a seat amongst the Ten Sages as Nine, Konoe's life never took a turn for the better.

Junko: Hmm, are we sure about that? I mean, sure she was thrust into the fray as a member of the legendary Six Heroes due to a series of events involving her family, but she played a huge part in destroying the Black Beast, an anomaly that's been rampaging around the world for years! She even married the strongest creature in the world, which just so happened to be a cat. They even had a child in Kokonoe!

Monika: Well, it may have looked like everything was going to look up for her... until one of the Heroes, Yuuki Terumi, turned traitor and went against his comrades-in-arms, dragging Nine into a Cauldron in the process. To make things worse for the sage, she was dragged out of what was supposed to be her rest and forced to serve the Novus Orbis Librarium's Imperator, Izanami, as the enigmatic Phantom. Soon, however, Nine would free herself from her binding contract to the Imperator and resolve to create a new world free of suffering under the Master Unit: Amaterasu's constant resets of the timeline.

Junko: But she wasn't doing it for some boring reason like saving the world or protecting her daughter whom she hadn't seen in years. 

Monika: Right, the only thing she cared about was keeping her sister, Celica A. Mercury, safe. Nine will go through leaps and bounds to ensure no harm will come to her precious sister, even if it means inflicting evil and pain upon the world.

Junko: And she was more than strong enough to pull it off!

Monika: She's already powerful enough to trade blows with the Black Beast, a monster capable of destroying the entire planet. 

Junko: Her title as one of the Six Heroes is no joke as she's gone up against some of the best in her series. Going up against the likes of the Time Erasing Hakumen, the Moon Busting Izanami, the Dimensional Tearing Azreal, and even her very own daughter, who can create Black Holes like it's nothing!

Monika: Nine also created Requiem and powers it with her very own life force. Requiem is a replacement god for Amaterasu, who can effortlessly warp the Boundary, a realm that transcends the multiverse.

Junko: On top of that, she's fast enough to traverse said Boundary, which is infinite in size!

Monika: Powerful and smart too.

Monika: Right, Nine is pretty much one of the smartest characters in the series, being the creator of some of the most powerful weapons in the series. Her brain is comparable to the likes of Kokonoe and Relius Clover.

Junko: She's also got her own weapons, like her cloak, which acts as a weapon and shield. It can turn into hands to grab people or wings to fly. She can also summon invisible blades that tear your flesh and sever your bones! Now that's metal!

Monika: Nine can sense the presence of others, hide her own presence entirely, and even enhance her senses to that of a Beastkin.

Junko: The same species with such high senses that the world moves slowly from their perspective.

Monika: Right. Nine's sorcery is as aggressive as her personality and she has a unique but deadly ability to attract Seithr. Since she has no control over this ability, she keeps it suppressed with her imitation of the Origin of the Grimoire, which takes the form of her left eye.

Junko: On top of that, Nine has Phenomena Intervention!

Junko: We already discussed this in Izanami's battle, but Phenomena Intervention, also known as Event Interference or "The Power of the God", is an ability that can change its target's state from "exist" to "not exist" and vice versa. If it can't be determined if the target actually "exists" or not, it's almost impossible to perform a Phenomenon Intervention. Since a sudden disappearance of the target would shock those surrounding it, their memories are altered.

Monika: It also allows her to erase one reality and overwrite it with another, a different world that is a result of an existing possibility. In other words, it imposes a result of a certain phenomenon from a parallel world into the current world. Changing a possibility into reality. It's pretty much reality-warping. 

Junko: Hell, if that Clover kid can pause time with a weaker version of it, there's no reason to say Nine can't do the same! This also makes her a being who exists outside of logic, so regular attacks are pretty pointless against her. But magical attacks, or any attacks that are also outside of logic, can potentially do some real damage.

Monika: Nine, herself, is a master at using magic, often using it to control elements.

Monika: When in combat, Nine can rapidly deploy spells with casting time so tiny it almost seems like an automatic reflex. She can fire a ball of light that explodes into a rain of bullets or gusts of wind so powerful that they can rend bone. If an opponent comes too close, she can generate lightning around her body to prevent them from coming closer.

Junko: She can control other elements like ice and fire, summon spears of darkness, or even summon goat skulls to block attacks. If she combines her elements, she can sprout massive plants from the ground or throw giant rocks with ice spikes down at her opponent.

Monika: On top of her magic, she's incredibly skilled with Alchemy.

Monika: A more... scientific power that controls the elements. She can use it to control the earth around her, create forcefields that sap her opponent's strength, transmute objects and weapons, and induce sleep with a single touch of the finger. She can even combine her magic with her alchemy to create Ars Magus, a more powerful ability that can harm beings outside of logic and scar your very soul, creating injuries that can't even be healed through reality-warping.

Junko: With this, she can turn camouflage, turn intangible, create and control magical chains, control the weather, create clones, summon black holes, and harden her body to the point that regular weaponry will shatter after making contact with her skin! She can even heal wounds inflicted outside of logic, though the process is painful.

Monika: On another note, while she doesn't have any specific weapon of her own, she does have Hino Kagutsuchi.

Monika: Nobody really knows where this monster came from, but sometime during the Dark War, Nine managed to completely bind this demonic creature to her will. Now she can summon its limbs for powerful attacks like flaming punches and kicks. She can even ride on its head and make it shoot devastating blasts of energy.

Junko: Yeah, she's more than likely just mind-controlling it though, similar to how she did with Tsubaki and Hazama.

Monika: She has other things she can summon as well, such as the Citrine of Change.

Monika: A giant mirror that can reflect any attack, and one she can kick at her opponent whenever she wants.

Junko: She can also summon Taaffeite the Temptation.

Junko: A fairy that can fly around, shooting magic bolts at her targets.

Monika: can trap foes with a gravity field, summon a dark sphere that blows up in a cross shape, and even summon spheres in the air that track her foe and rain down giant fireballs at them. As far as special moves are concerned, she has Crimson Raider.

Monika: Where she engulfs herself in flames and charges at her opponent, unleashing a massive explosion upon impact.

Junko: Then there's the Flax Nurture.

Junko: This boosts her stats and magical power, especially her elemental attacks.

Monika: Right, she's already incredibly powerful as is. Her main ability is teleportation, which she used to struggle with. But now she can teleport herself and anyone else anywhere she wants. And let's not forget about her Overdrive, Distortion Drives, and Exceed Accel.

Monika: Her Overdrive is Burning Red, which increases the power of her Distortion Drives.

Junko: Like the Flame Punisher, where she unleashes a trio of beams, from herself and Hino Kagutsuchi! Cardinal Nova lets her unleash a series of massive explosions that juggle the foe into the air and Azurite Inferno entraps the foe in a crucifix and unleashes magical orbs at them!

Monika: Her Exceed Accel is Scarlet Vein, where she kicks the foe into the air and commands Hino Kagutsuchi to crush them between its fists. Doing so also puts her in a state where her damage output is drastically increased.

Junko: But it's not as big as her Astral Finish, Colorless Void!

Junko: She summons Hino Kagutsuchi from underneath the ground to devour the foe and entrap them. She then flies into the air, conjures a magical glyph, and then pelters the helpless enemy, who is trapped in a fiery cage, with a barrage of meteors!

Monika: But in the end, she's not immortal.

Junko: Despite her genius, she does have quite the temper and can be a little overconfident. Her love for Celica can also make her easy to manipulate and can even cause her to be distracted by Celica's presence.

Monika: Also, the body she fights in isn't her own, so her magical power pales in comparison to when she was in her prime, but like any battle, we'll be taking her at her best so this is a non-factor.

Junko: Besides, she ultimately ended up killing herself.

Monika: Right, realizing her plan might not be for the best, she ended up betraying Izanami, sacrificing her life not just for her sister and daughter, but for everyone she loved.

Nine: How long are you going to show us this boring dream? It's time you woke up... and put an end to EVERYTHING.
