Monika: Most may say that it's always best to live your life to the fullest, but no matter what, nothing can stop the inevitable judgment of your peers from bringing you down and taking away what makes you special.

Junko: Kinda how like Monika treats me every time we're off-screen.

Monika: Wha- You're the one who does that to me!

Junko: Enter 14-year-old high school student, Luz Noceda!

Monika: Right... while Luz was far from a disobedient child, her energetic and carefree nature made her come across as weird to those around her, much to the worry of her mother Camila, who had just recently lost her husband. Hoping to straighten out her girl for the real world after an incident involving a book report with live snakes and fireworks, Camila planned to send Luz off to Reality Check Summer Camp to prepare her daughter for adulthood.

Junko: Poor Luz, all she wanted to do was be like us nerds who edit anime clips to music and read fantasy books with convoluted backstories.

Monika: Much to Luz's surprise, right before she left, she would discover a doorway to an entirely new realm, the Demon Realm. There, she would meet a small little bundle of chaos named King, an eldritch Owl Worm thing named Hooty, and Eda the Owl Lady, the most wanted and powerful witch of the Boiling Isles. Soon after getting into a wacky adventure with King and Eda involving a fast food crown, Luz decides to stay on the Boiling Isles and become the first human to be a witch. From there, Luz would find her new home at the titular Owl House.

Junko: Roll credits!

Junko: She's already proven herself to be incredibly strong, or at least her magic is. She should be comparable to King, who was strong enough to destroy a Titan's finger that yeeted some clouds. Luz and Amity, themselves, have made an Earthquake that spanned Bonesborough and a large portion of the Titan's Arm. And with Stringbean she can destroy a giant chunk of forest by herself.

Monika: She's durable enough to take being thrown into houses and statues and still keep fighting. She's even taken giant explosions on multiple occasions. She can keep up with Eda, whose able to dodge lightning and she's able to keep up with Lilith, whose fast enough to dodge her light glyph blasts.

Junko: Yeah, no doubt Luz is resourceful, especially with her magic.

Junko: Although inexperienced and incapable of performing spells at the start, Luz later practiced every form of magic coven on this side of Hexside. Furthermore, she temporarily used Eda's Palisman and would later have her own Palisman near the end of the series.

Monika: It is also shown that after the time skip, she's at least close to having understood every form of witchcraft. An impressive task, considering there's a ton out there to choose from.

Junko: Let's see here... Abomination magic lets you create giant gooey monsters. Base magic lets you create shockwaves, induce sleep, and even cancel other magic spell circles and puppeteer bodies through the use of music and sound. Beast-keeping magic basically allows you to control animals. Construction magic lets you summon pillars and boosts physical strength through sigils. Healing magic can create shields and barriers as well as... well, heal. Illusion magic creates clones and can trap you in your own memories. Oracle magic lets you predict the future and communicate telepathically. It can also be used to summon Phantom Projectiles. Plant magic allows you to control plants. And Potion magic can halt or remove curses, cause explosions, the whole sort.

Monika: There are also other miscellaneous spells such as petrification, sleep inducement, and even body switching that she has encountered in her quest home.

Junko: Luckily for Luz, she's a pretty creative thinker, very quick on her feet with discovering new ways to look at things. Sure, she was seen as weird in the human realm, but her creative outlook on things makes her perfectly suited to tackle the Demon Realm's shenanigans. I mean, that's how she survived the Boiling Isles.

Monika: An inhospitable land for those uncareful, the Vermont-sized Boiling Isles possesses an array of demons, monsters, cultists, unforgiving government heads, boiling rain, and all those other moderately scary things you gotta watch out for in Florida. Guided by Eda, Luz has survived all these dangers and more, sometimes completely on her own. Over time, her skill and experience in Bonesborough have grown immensely, fully forming her into a true warrior for good, to the point of participating and even stopping the war against Emperor Belos and The Collector.

Junko: It also greatly increased her stamina. This girl who originally had "weak nerd arms'' has built her body to burn a lot of energy, having traveled from Bonesborough to the Titan's Knee, which is a distance spanning a significant portion of the Boiling Isles, in the span of a day, and having gone through an entire day with no sleep.

Monika: Still though, since Luz was the only human there, she was the only human who couldn't learn magic naturally. Luckily, she managed to figure it out using her artistic skills and a ton of glyph papers.

Monika: After some interactions with nature thanks to her mentor Eda, she was able to spot patterns in her surroundings. Through copying those patterns onto paper, all it would take is a tap and voila, she could do magic by utilizing the natural magic located on the isles. The potency of this magic can be further increased as well depending on how big the glyph symbol itself actually is. Luz can also transcribe the glyphs she's learned on papers on her person in order to use them, allowing her to be able to draw more glyphs using her notepad and pen at any time. She carries these glyph papers in large quantities and isn't really shown to run out of them.

Junko: Even if she did, she doesn't need them. Her artistic skills allow her to draw these things anywhere on anything that she pleases.

Monika: The first magic Luz uses is light glyphs, which lets her create one or more small balls of light. Depending on the size of the drawn glyph, it can create a massive flash of light to blind enemies. Additionally, when using two light glyphs at once, Luz can fire a concentrated beam of light toward her enemies. This can also give her healing and can counter the Collector's illusions,  turning their puppets back to normal.

Junko: The next is Ice Glyphs. This allows her to make things like ice walls the size of a ship. She can also create snow and give objects icey properties.

Monika: After that are her Plant Glyphs. When drawn, this glyph causes plants to grow at a rapid rate in whatever direction the user wants. Specifically, Luz can use it to tangle and trap her opponents in vines or to swing around her immediate environment.

Junko: And finally, Fire Glyphs. This lets her shoot fireballs as projectiles or give objects firey properties. The fire can be pretty how, outright melting a metal gate.

Monika: On top of this, Luz can use Glyph Combos.

Monika: Basically, Luz can combine and connect her glyphs in different shapes or forms to create new magical effects. Lilith Clawthrone, magic expert and resident geek of the Clawthrone family, described it as these combinations serving as parallels to the chemical combinations inside a Witch's bile sack, allowing Luz to expand her magic arsenal to new levels, and much closer to the magical capabilities of her peers.

Junko: This lets her create things like Invisibility Glyphs, which lets her turn invisible so long as she can hold her breath. She can use this one to turn objects invisible too.

Junko started holding her breath.

Monika: What are you doing?

Junko: Trying... to turn... invisible...

Monika: Don't be ridiculous. You can't just turn invisible by-

Junko disappeared...

Monika: ... Um... back on the Glyphs. With the Saftey Hover Glyphs, she can hover around for a few seconds. And with the Mist Glyphs, she can create a thick mist. She can add sleeping properties if sleep nettles are added.

Junko: Water Glyphs can produce a small water fountain but aren't very useful. But her Wind Glyphs can create a vortex of wind that can suck up objects near it.

Monika: After that are her Monster Arm Glyphs, which can create a monster arm that can attack anyone in its vicinity, though the fact that "anyone" includes Luz makes it a bit more difficult to capitalize on. These monster arms, when used by Emperor Belos, were capable of restraining Luz herself.

Junko: She also has her Teleportation Glyphs, which is made using a shit ton of Glyph combinations. When activated, it teleports anyone inside to the Titan's head. Though considering the needed amount of prep time and the specific location for said teleportation it's probably not too practical for general use.

Monika: Not unlike her Petrification Glyphs, which can turn whatever it's on top of into stone.

Junko: But she doesn't just use Glyphs. She has a bunch of magical items at her disposal. Her main one is her Pailsman, Stringbean.

Monika: As a Palisman, Stringbean acts as Luz's companion mounted on her staff, which is capable of flight by riding it like a witch's broomstick. Luz is capable of summoning her and the staff at any time. Stringbean is powerful enough to unleash powerful blasts of magic that can casually blow apart stone. Being a snake shifter, she is also able to shapeshift into a variety of different animals, such as a dragon, snake, bat, and scorpion. Palisman contain their own source of magical power just like a Witch's bilesack that operates as a witch's familiar, in other words, Stringbean is the channel to Luz's magical potential.

Junko: As stated before, Stringbean is incredibly strong and incredibly fast, even capable of keeping up with The Collector, who can travel across the Isles in minutes with his magic stars, and more notably, was stated at the end of the series to have "returned to the stars". The Collector was also stated to have "been in the area" after the four-year time skip. Meaning he at least visited the nearest star, then returned to the isles, across a four-year period

Monika: Luz has Memory Tweezers.

Monika: Tweezers that can extract images of memories from a person's head when inserted into an ear. If damaged or destroyed, it can start a chain reaction that leads to the destruction of the target's mind.

Junko: There's also the Witches Cloak.

Junko: A cloak made from Witch's Wool that was gifted to Luz by Eda. This protects Luz from all manner of magical attacks, but it was eventually damaged by the environment. While Eda meant to repair it, they just never got around to it.

Monika: Then there's her toy sword.

Monika: picked up for a false "chosen one quest" early in her time in the Boiling Isles. It's actually pretty good as a weapon, being able to slice through the tentacles of Adegast.

Junko: All by the power of Skullgar!

Monika: ... It needs batteries for a voice box function.

Junko: Aw lame.

Monika: She has a magic pen that brings anything she draws to life, winged shows that let her double jump, a plant ladder seed that creates a plant platform, a Snaggleback Shell that can bash through stacked enemies with ease and be used as a shield, a cloud jar for a cloud platform, and an ice potion that can freeze a horde of enemies solid and dissipate them.

Junko: Too bad none of this could prevent her from eventually becoming dead... but then she lived! She woke up in the Space In Between, where she would be saved from falling into the Afterlife by Papa Titan himself!

Monika: This being, or "Papa Titan" as he's called, is the Titan corpse that the Boiling Isles were made on, and King's father, having kept his consciousness and having watched over King as he grew up. In order to defeat Belos, Papa Titan gave Luz the last of his life in order to bring her back to life and also give her the power she needs to do the deed as well.

Junko: What are these new powers? A badass transformation called Titan Luz!

Junko: Holy shit that's badass!

Monika: Against Belos, Luz found herself having everything she needed to fully put an end to the genocidal Witch Hunter. Her magic power is massively amplified, allowing her to naturally draw spell circles without having to use a glyph like her mentor Eda, either with her finger or with Stringbean's staff form, creating incredibly powerful spells. An example would be her creating new vegetation in the Isles from Belos' goopy destruction, or her possibly creating boiling rain storms against any pesky remains of Belos while being unharmed herself. She can even create a magic barrier that lets her fly in at incredible speeds and teleport.

Junko: On top of that, she can also let out a powerful Titan shout, much like her friend King, and can enhance her physical strength by summoning glyphs around her body. Not only was she comparable to Belos, but her power was even comparable to the Collector, who could telepathically move the moon with a single finger like it was nothing!

Monika: But all good things must come to an end as even in this form, Luz has her weaknesses.

Junko: Luz used to be a little bit impulsive, at least at the start of the series. Her headstrong personality has caused her to get into trouble for her and her peers. She also has a bad habit of rushing into problems without thinking it through, which includes going against Eda's rules. This typically results in her only making strategies once things have already gone for the worst and she is in a tight spot.

Monika: She also can't use her magic anywhere else but the Boiling Isles due to the lack of Titan Blood around. Speaking of which, her Titan Form is linked to the Titan's lifespan. So since the Titan is already dying, once he runs out of juice she will return to her base form.

Junko: On top of that, since Papa Titan would be dead, she can't come back to life a second time. And even then, once back to her base form, she can't use any more glyphs either, which kinda sucks since that's her main form of attack minus the Titan form.

Monika: Still, Luz would enroll in the University of Wild Magic and go on her way to becoming a true witch. Her journey wasn't always easy and she made many mistakes, but as Luz herself would say, "Nada funcionará a menos que lo haga funcionar". Translation? Nothing will work unless you make it work. Needless to say, she definitely did.

Junko: Alongside her friends and family and awesome girlfriend too.

Luz: So you have a different way of doing things, a different way of seeing things. That might make you weird, but it also makes you awesome, don't you see? Because us weirdos have to stick together. And nobody should be punished for who they are!
