Monika: In Tatsumi Port Island, a certain experiment began 10 years ago that forever affects the surrounding area of the city into the depths of the paranormal. Where a strange phenomenon happens during the stroke of midnight called; "the Dark Hour". It was a time anomaly that occurs for an hour every night that took place between 12:00 AM to 1:00 AM, sort of like a hidden 25th hour.
Junko: Not just anyone can roam around during the Dark Hour. A majority of people in the Dark Hour turn into coffins! Makoto Yuki is one of the very few who could roam around during the Dark Hour... and Makoto Yuki is not the person we're discussing today.
Monika: Somewhere in an alternate universe lies his female counterpart. For the longest time, fans have called her FeMC, but her official name is Kotone Shiomi.
Junko: Yeah, for some reason Makoto is the only one in this universe who has been gender-swapped. Aside from that, both have the same stories going for them with only slight differences. Both had their parents die ten years ago, both had become vessels of Death thanks to a hot robot toast- I mean Aigis, and both went to school and joined S.E.E.S!
Monika: And as a member of S.E.E.S, she will help fight off Shadows and come up with a way to end the Dark Hour.
https://youtu.be/8Pj_7kaTTog
Monika: Since she's the female equivalent of Makoto, it's more than safe to say that the two are on the same level. She can also scale to the rest of S.E.E.S, who are strong enough to battle the mountain-sized Erubis.
Junko: She should also be comparable to the Phantom Thieves, most of whom have reacted to attacks that can travel galaxies in seconds or block attacks from guys who can destroy an entire cognitive universe!
Monika: Kotone has battled and beaten multiple Shadows, fought Death, and is the only Persona user, aside from her male counterpart, capable of taking down a Velvet Room attendant all by herself. That being either Theodore or Elizabeth.
Junko: Safe to say Kotone is one tough cookie.
https://youtu.be/70YYSz17OfU
Monika: Unlike other silent protagonists, Kotone is a lot more carefree. She's not afraid to speak her mind and does sometimes try to look at everything in a positive light. She's a genius strategist and expert leader, though under that smile is a lot of anxiety, depression, and sometimes loneliness.
Junko: Yeah, but that shit's never slowed her down before! Especially with her main weapon, a spear!
Monika: You mean her Naginata?
Junko: Tamato tomato. Regardless she has 20 of these things, some of which increase her strength, endurance, or magic power. Others can make her opponent feel distressed or start to panic. Her strongest is the Vel Vel Muruga, which increases all her stats.
Monika: But what matters most is the Wildcard!
Monika: How should I put this? Kotone is a Persona user. That is completely true. However, Kotone is one of the special ones. Normally a Persona user can only summon one Persona at a time, but with the Wild Card, Kotone can summon way more than just one.
Junko: Her first and main Persona is Orpheus!
Monika: A poet of Greek mythology skilled with the lyre. He tried to retrieve his wife, Eurydice, from Hades, but she vanished when he looked back before reaching the surface.
Junko: This one is a female version. She's weak to both darkness and electric attacks but she can still heal Kotone, deal fire damage, and weaken Kotone's enemies.
Monika: Then there's Susano'o.
Monika: A god of Japanese legend, born along with Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. He was cast out for lewd behavior but redeemed himself with heroic deeds like slaying Yamata-no-Orochi. He wields a forked Ceremonial Sword. He's immune to piercing damage, resists electric and wind attacks, and is weak to light magic. He can do severe slashing damage, create a barrier that reflects physical attacks, heal Kotone, or even increase the chances of retreating.
Junko: Then there's Surt.
Monika: A fire giant in Norse lore. He rules the fire realm, Muspelheim, and brandishes a burning sword. At Ragnarok, he will set the world ablaze. He can absorb fire, strengthen his flames, and deal severe damage with fire but he's weak to ice.
Junko: Then there's Scethath.
Monika: A warrior woman of the Land of Shadows in Celtic lore. She taught the hero, Cu Chulainn, the art of war and gave him the spear, Gae Bolg. She relies mostly on magic, resisting Pierce, Ice, Wind, and Light damage She can strengthen physical attacks, deal heavy wind and ice damage, and cure all ailments. Though she's weak to fire.
Junko: You know who else relies mostly on magic? Alilat!
Monika: The Arabian mother goddess also known as Allat. She was thought to reside in the Black Stone at the Kaaba. She and her son, Dusura, were worshipped there by desert nomads. She's resistant to piercing, slashing, and striking damage. In fact, she can use magic to reflect all three as well as magic. She can heal Kotone and deal heavy ice damage.
Junko: Why does she have boo-
Monika: Moving on! Kotone can also summon Kohryu! Known as the Gold Dragon, it reigns over the Ssu-Ling, celestial creatures of Chinese lore. It is located at the center of the four beasts. It's immune to light-based attacks and can nullify wind magic, striking attacks, and piercing attacks. It can breathe heavy fire and revive fallen allies.
Junko: Then we got Cybele!
Monika: The Phrygian mother goddess of the earth, she is often depicted with wild animals, and lions in particular. She had her priest, Attis, as a lover, but drove him insane when he was forced to marry another. She wields a pronged whip and she's immune to dark magic. She's also resistant to fire and electric attacks. She can revive fallen allies and deal heavy Almighty damage as well.
Junko: Then there's the man, the myth, the legend, Thor! Norse thunder god, and son of Odin. He wears the belt Megingjard, which doubles his power. Lightning flashes whenever he throws his hammer, Mjolnir. To nobody's surprise, he's immune to electricity but he's also immune to striking damage and weak to dark magic. He has a high chance of countering physical attacks and he can strengthen electrical ones as well.
Monika: Next up is Melchizedek.
Monika: An angel of Gnosticism, governing over peace and righteousness. Though said to be the savior of the angels, he used to be a human, the king of Salem.
Junko: Sa-
Monika: Not that Salem.
Junko: Oh... well he has cool wings and badass gauntlets. He can reflect light attacks and is weak to darkness. Don't worry, he can use magic to reflect it. Not only does he also have a 40% chance of instantly killing you, but he can deal some heavy to severe striking damage and heal Kotone's entire party.
Monika: Next on the list is Arahabaki. A mysterious god of ancient Japan. Most famously worshipped by Nagasunehiko, who was defeated in battle against Emperor Jimmu, Arahabaki came to be treated as a symbol of rebellion and defiance. He's immune to fire and light attacks, resistant to electric and dark attacks, but weak to striking damage. Luckily he can use magic to nullify it. He can also poison his opponent and reflect both physical and ice attacks.
Junko: Then we have Norn, Goddesses of Fate in Norse lore. They live below the roots of Yggdrasil and weave the threads of fate, which even the gods are bound by. They can absorb wind magic and deal heavy to severe wind damage, even strengthening their wind attacks. They can heal Kotone constantly and while they are weak to electricity, they can use magic to absorb it.
Monika: Then there's Siegfried.
Monika: The German name of the hero in the epic poem of the Nibelungenlied. The dragon Fafnir's blood made him invincible, but a single leaf on his back resulted in a weak spot. He's immune to slashing and light damage but is weak to darkness. He can strengthen physical attacks, constantly heal Kotone, and has a 50% chance of countering physical attacks.
Junko: Oh yeah, then there's Attis. Remember him? A Phrygian god who symbolizes life, death, and revival. He rejected Cybele's love and was driven mad, dying after he castrated himself. Cybele then resurrected him. He's resistant to slashing, piercing, and striking damage. He's also weak to light but can use magic to reflect it. He can heal Kotone's allies at the cost of her own health, deal almighty damage to multiple foes, and bring Kotone back to life once per battle. Oh yeah, and he can instantly kill anyone who's fearful.
Monika: After him, we have Yurlungur, A snake with a rainbow body from Murngin lore. He is a fertility deity who controls the weather and resides in a holy pond filled with rainbow-colored water. He's immune to ice and wind but is weak to electricity and darkness. He can strengthen ice attacks and deal heavy ice and wind damage. He can also revive allies and fully restore health.
Junko: Man, we're still only halfway done with these.
Monika: Well, we're almost at some of the good ones like Beelzebub. The Demonic Lord of the Flies whose insect minions carry souls for him to control. Mentioned in the Bible as a leader of evil spirits, and thus seen as a powerful demon in Christianity. He can reflect dark magic and is resistant to electricity and ice, but he's weak to fire and light magic. He can still deal heavy fire, ice, and almighty damage though. He can also poison his targets or instantly kill them.
Junko: And there's also Chi-You. A Chinese god of war, he is said to have invented many weapons. He and his followers rebelled against the Yellow Emperor, Huang Di, but were ultimately defeated. He wields a shield, axe, spear, and sword in four of his six arms. Unsurprisingly, he's resistant to slashing and piercing damage. But he's weak to electricity. He can drain damage from striking attacks and deal severe physical damage of his own.
Monika: Next up is Lucifer.
Monika: A fallen angel, and the lord of demons in Judeo-Christian lore. His pride led him to revolt against God, taking a third of the heavenly host with him. He now waits for a second chance to challenge God. He's immune to darkness as well as striking, slashing, and piercing attacks. He is weak to ice though. He can deal heavy fire damage and massive Almighty damage. He can also drain the damage done by slash attacks and restore health.
Junko: Next is Sandalphon.
Junko: Metatron's twin brother in Judeo-Christian lore, he is the master of heavenly songs. It is said that a human would take 500 years to walk the length of his body. He can heal others, cure ailments, instantly kill multiple foes, and create barriers that reflect magic attacks.
Monika: Speaking of Metatron, we need to talk about him too.
Monika: He may sound like a transformer, but he's actually one of the most important angels in the hierarchy, yet the most mysterious. He is the scribe and advocate of heaven. He reflects light, resists striking damage, and is weak to darkness. He can also reflect fire, ice, and electricity. He can instantly kill a target just like his brother. He can also deal severe almighty and striking damage.
Junko: And then there's Satan.
Junko: The prince of darkness in Judeo-Christian lore, known for his role as the snake that tempted Adam and Eve in Eden. It is also said he is sent by God to test man's piety. He's resistant to fire and darkness but he's weak to wind. He has two Almighty attacks, can deal heavy fire damage, can constantly heal Kotone, and can reflect light attacks.
Monika: And with the help of Lucifer, the two Persona can perform Armageddon.
https://youtu.be/pqZc8sJo6wY
Junko: A powerful attack that unleashes a giant pillar of light from under their opponent's feet! It can normally take out almost anyone.
Monika: But her more important Persona includes Thanatos.
Junko: The Greek god of death, he is the son of Nyx and the brother of Hypnos. He is depicted as a young man with an inverted torch and wreath or butterfly in his hands. He wields a katana and a ring of coffin-like shields. He can reflect darkness and is resistant to slashing and striking damage. Still, he is weak to light attacks. He can instantly kill opponents especially those who fear him. He has an Almighty attack, can deal heavy fire damage, and can deal severe slash damage.
Monika: But her strongest Persona is most definitely Messiah.
Junko: He appears before Judgement Day to save the virtuous. He is a universal figure, appearing in myths around the world. Many stories involve his death and rebirth. He's resistant to Fire, Ice, Electricity, and Wind but is weak to dark magic.
Monika: He has two Almighty attacks. He can heal Kotone, cure all ailments, and even revive her. He can drain the damage of piercing attacks, do some severe piercing damage of his own, and strengthen all Kotone's magical skills, including Almighty.
Junko: Kotone used this exact Persona to take down Nyx himself before he whipped all life off the face of the planet!
Monika: Well sorta. But even with the Ultimate Persona, and with her friends by her side, it still wasn't enough to take Nyx down for good. However, Kotone received a trump card and by some twist of fate, it was not one given by a Persona. Rather it was the Universe Arcana and would grant Kotone the ability of the Great Seal.
https://youtu.be/ApJgKMOrLxE
Monika: Using the Great Seal, Kotone shines a bright light around her, completely obliterating her foe and sealing them away into the Sea of Souls.
Junko: A great way of getting rid of a pesky god, but it does come at a price.
Monika: Right, the Great Seal will kill her once used, and therefore is something she should only use as a last resort.
Junko: And she does share the same weakness as her Persona. Though she doesn't share any direct injuries but she can feel their pain and she is weak to whatever weakness her current Persona has.
Monika: But even at the cost of her life, she will keep moving forward and burn... her... dread.
Time never waits. It delivers all equally to the same end. You, who wish to safeguard the future, however limited it may be... You will be given one year; go forth without falter, with your heart as your guide... -Message to Kotone Shiomi
