Kira: Serizawa has stated, "The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in their control and not the other way around". And today we have to titans of power that humanity has tried time and time again to either subdue or destroy, to no avail.

Zen: That's my older sister Ziana Thundrice, she's Kira Romanov and I'm Zen Thundrice.

Ziana: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win..... a DEATH BATTLE.

Ziana: The year was 1954, less than a decade after the US dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki near the end of World War 2, forcing Japan to surrender. But in exchange, the nuclear age had began between the US and the USSR. But in the midst of testing of their hydrogen bombs in the Pacific Ocean, one of these woke an ancient beast from the depths, Godzilla.

Kira: Understandably pissed at being woken up AND being mutated by nuclear energy, Godzilla made his way to the nearest country, which unfortunately happens to be Japan and began wreaking havoc across Tokyo. No weapon could even come close to harming this Kaiju. That is until Dr. Serizawa invented the Oxygen Destroyer and sacrificed himself to kill Godzilla. But we all know how that went as another Godzilla appeared years later.

Zen: Though given appearances in movies and comics throughout the years, Godzilla's morality changes from time to time. Ranging from a benevolent Earth Guardian to its malevolent destroyer. Oh, and he technically has two sons, Godzilla Junior and Mi-

Zen: *Rubbing her sore ear* Aaanyways. As a creature mutated from nuclear radiation, it's no surprise Godzilla can weaponize such energy. Mostly famous in the form of his Atomic Breath, a breath attack which fires an energy beam made of radiation. But should Godzilla be outnumbered or restrained up close, he can blast them back with a short-ranged Nuclear Pulse.

Ziana: Godzilla also somehow knows martial arts and even perform gravity-defying dropkicks and "fly" with his Atomic Breath. Don't ask us. And while he is technically vulnerable to man-made electricity, he has shown to be able to draw natural lightning upon him and turn himself into a living magnet. And on the occasion he is hurt, his absurd healing factor can repair any damage taken.

Kira: However, if Godzilla's back is against the wall against an an opponent he can't overcome, he can bust out his Red Spiral Ray, a red and more powerful version of his standard Atomic Breath which can one-shot most Kaijus. But that's not all.

Zen: Whether it'd be absorbing too much radiation or Mothra giving him her powers, Godzilla can tap into his Burning Form. Sure the 1996 version proves to be a double-edge as it will also kill Godzilla and destroy Earth in his meltdown, but he'd have to reach 1200 degree Celsius first and within that timeframe, his power skyrockets and gains the even more powerful Super Red Spiral Ray.

Kira: Well there's also his Super Godzilla form, which gives Godzilla new abilities such as Nova Breath and Blast Nova. Strangely enough though, this form directly inspired SpaceGodzilla.

Ziana: Actually that makes sense since both were created by Minoru Yoshida and SpaceGodzilla was a year after the Super Godzilla game.

Ziana: Godzilla is without a doubt one of the most powerful Kaijus of his genre. He's strong enough to throw the 100,000 ton Keizer Ghidorah around with ease, defeated 10 Kaijus in a row in Final Wars, matched all three different versions of MechaGodzilla and defeated his arch-rival King Ghidorah, an alien Kaiju so powerful it took multiple Kaijus to fend him off, many times.

Popup: Various guides have stated that Godzilla's power has increase over 200 times throughout the years and is capable of destroying Earth in the 1993 Godzilla vs Mothra. After Godzilla absorbed Fire Rodan's soul, his power increased yet another 6 times.

Zen: He has been shown to shrug almost anything thrown at him, ranging from nuclear bombs to the Absolute Zero Cannon, which has the ability to freeze at the atomic level. Hell he's so tough, even the combined might of Mothra and Battra can only render Godizlla unconscious temporarily and the Cosmos stated Battra has the power to destroy a meteor capable of blowing up planets as big as Earth. And Toho has claimed Godzilla can shrug off Utsuno Ikusagami's planet-busting Sun Bolts should these two ever meet.

Kira: At first this seems far-fetched to you, but Godzilla has battle planet busters before, namely his rival King Ghidorah and clone SpaceGodzilla. Speaking of him, Godzilla's Atomic Breath is also capable of tagging the clone, who has travelled from a black hole to Earth in 3 days. The nearest known black hole is Gaia BH1, which was discovered in September 2022 by a team led by Kareem El-Badry. Gaia BH1 is 1,560 light-years away from Earth in the direction of the constellation Ophiuchus.

Ziana: Given it took 3 days for SpaceGodzilla to arrive, his speed reaches over 19 billion times the speed of light and that's not factoring his crystals arriving way faster at 218 billion. And in his Burning Form, Godzilla has been able to overpower and kill Destoroyah, who was not only declared as the strongest Kaiju in the Heisei Era, but possessed abilities from the Oxygen Destroyer, the very same one that killed the first Godzilla. And while considering his meltdown can destroy Earth, this would yield about 2.6 Ninatons of TNT.

Zen: But Godzilla could go even further beyond, because he has been able to match Thor's strength and literally stomped on the Hulk, two universe busters from Marvel. Thor could easily lift the Midgard Serpent and Hulk's fight with the Nameless One shattered an entire universe.

Weaknesses

Godzilla is not invincible; both his durability and healing factor has limits

The Oxygen Destroyer is his most iconic weakness; able to disintegrate his flesh

Burning Godzilla died from a radioactive meltdown; meaning enough radiation or heat can kill Godzilla (Though Fire Godzilla seems to be a counter from this weakness, as he shows no pain during and even after his transformation)

As we discussed earlier Godzilla can't handle man-made electricity and he has notably struggled against aerial opponents like Mothra and King Ghidorah. And he can be paralyzed if his second brain is destroyed.

Kiara: Not to mention despite his insane strength, he has been defeated by physically inferior foes like King Kong and Mothra and is slow on land. And he can still be hurt by missiles and other things like Hedorah's poison. And again, his Burning form can kill Godzilla if used for too long. And his Atomic Breath has been shrugged off by SpaceGodzilla's skin and Magita's armor.

Zen: And yet, Godzilla's accomplishments far outclassed his failures. Whether he'd be Earth's benevolent defender or vengeful destroyer, Godzilla has more than earned his title of King of the Monsters.

Groudon raises the land on DEATH BATTLE

Kira: In the world of Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon are considered one the rarest and most powerful Pokemon there is, often associated with legends of the world's creation, destruction and other things. And in each region, several Legendary Pokemon have been known to form groups of Legendary Trio. Ranging from Kanto's Bird Trio to Sinnoh's Creation Trio up to Kalos' Aura Trio. But today we're talking about one Legendary Pokemon from Hoenn's Weather Trio.

Ziana: Rayquaza, the Sky High Pokemon and personification of the ozone layer. Kyogre, the Sea Basin Pokemon and personification of the seas. And last but not least, our today's combatant, Groudon, the Continent Pokemon and personification of the land.

Ziana: Over 2,000 years ago Groudon and Kyogre battle for dominance, with Groudon raising the lands and Kyogre raising the seas. Their battle eventually created the Hoenn region we know of today, but their clash created natural disasters such as drought and floods which threatened to consume the world. But the intervention of Rayquaza ended the conflicted and brought peace to the world.

Zen: That was, until two evil organizations Teams Magma and Team Aqua decided to stick their noses up where it shouldn't belong and wanted to wake Groudon and Kyogre up once more. You can already guess what their goals are using the two Legendaries based on their names. Fortunately Rayquaza showed up again and neutralized the threat.

Ziana: Fitting for a Legendary Pokemon that raises the land, Groudon's specializes in Ground-Type attacks that receives STAB or Same-Type Attack Bonus, which amplifies a Pokemon's damage by 50% if the Move they used is same the type as the user. Groudon can make shake the area with Earthquake or Earth Power, blast Mud Shot to lower an opponent's speed and can one-shot foes with Fissure, assuming it hits that is.

Kira: But Groudon isn't afraid to use moves from other Types. He can burn foes with either Fire Blast Lava Plum or Eruption, harshly reduce a foe's speed with Scary Face, throw ancient rocks with Ancient Power and deal heavy physical damage with Hammer Arm. Bulk Up increases physical and defensive stats and can heal himself back to full health with Rest.

Zen: And thanks to his Ability Drought, Groudon can use Solar Beam, an attack that normally requires one turn to charge and another to fire, any time he wants. It's also the perfect counter for Kyogre given Ground-Types are weak against Water. However, with the Red Orb, Groudon can undergo Primal Reversion, a transformation similar to Mega Evolution, and transform into Primal Groudon.

Ziana As the name suggest, Primal Groudon's power skyrockets as he regains he true power, becoming even more stronger than before. And moves like Fire Blast, Eruption and Lava Plum get STAB since Primal Groudon is also Fire-Type now. He also gains a new Ability called Desolate Land, which can permanently change the weather by making extreme heat and nullify Water-Type attacks nearly impossible to change.

Popup: Only Primal Kyogre's Primordial Sea and Mega Rayquaza's Delta Stream can counter Desolate Land. Moves like Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Sandstorm and Hail will not work.

Ziana: But his most powerful attack is Precipice Blades, where his summons giant spikes from the ground to pierce his opponents.

Kira: Groudon is a force to be reckoned with. His ability to raise continents consistently puts his power at 216.31 Petatons of TNT and has fought on even grounds with his rival Kyogre even though he's at a Type disadvantage. And together with Primal Kyogre, they were both stated to be capable of stopping the Grand Meteor Delta, which would've destroyed the planet. Such destructive capability requires 896.53 Zettatons of TNT.

Zen: Plus being a Legendary Pokemon means Groudon can easily shrug off moves that are normally super effective against him, such as White Kyurem's Ice Beam and Primal Kyogre's Origin Pulse and Sheer Cold. Sheer Cold is a One-Hit KO Ice-Type move that faint any Pokemon should it make contact. And if the Absolute Zero" part is literal, then it has a temperature of -273.6 degree Celsius.

Popup: It's unclear if Groudon survived Origin Pulse due to sheer durability or being weakened by his Desolate Land Ability.

Ziana: And given he's part of the Weather Trio, it makes sense he scales to Kyogre and Rayquaza. Heck Primal Groudon has even knocked Mega Rayquaza out of the sky with Eruption. Mega Rayquaza can match Deoxys in speed, who travelled the galaxy in 10 days while carrying the Grand Meteor Delta. Putting him at over 986,175 times faster than light. Mega Rayquaza can also match base Necrozma in strength who has absorbed all the light in the Ultra Space, though it's very debatable if we can directly scale Primal Groudon to him.

Weaknesses

Weak against Water, Ice and Grass-Types

Weak against Rock-Type as Primal Groudon

Water-Type moves deal 4x damage to Ground/Fire, though Desolate Land weakens this greatly

Dream Groudon was defeated by Dream Cynthia's Dream Rayquaza

Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre were defeated by Mega Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent, knocking them both out of their Primal forms

Ziana: However, every Pokemon their weaknesses, Legendary or not. As a Ground-Type he is weak against Water, Ice and Grass-Type moves. With Water dealing 4x more damage due to Primal Groudon Ground/Fire typing, though he can nullify this with Desolate Drought.

Kira: Not to mention Fissure only has a 30% chance of hitting a target and Rest will leave it vulnerable to attack. And enough damage can knock Groudon out of his Primal form as shown with him and Primal Kyogre reverting back to their normal forms by Mega Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent.

Zen: But still, I would think twice before coming into the ring with a Pokemon who can bring droughts, increase the heat and raise the land. Groudon certainly proved his title of Continent Pokemon

Pokedex: Groudon has appeared in mythology as the creator of the land. It sleeps in magma underground and is said to make volcanoes erupt on awakening.

Multiple news helicopters are seen hovering above the sea as a charcoal-colored, bipedal bearing resemblance to Groudon is seen treading across the water as he makes landfall, his feet making contact with the soft sand. The Kaiju growls as he sees nothing but a barren land, a volcano and the sea behind him. Eager to fight anyone here, he gave his signature roar.

Godzilla: SHREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOONNGGGGGKKKK!!

As if to answered the King of the Monsters' challenge, the volcano erupted, letting huge molten lava rock that missed the news helicopters as they scrambled for safety while the sun shone brighter than usual. A few hit Godzilla but he merely shrugs it off, his narrowed eyes instead focusing on a silhouette emerging from the volcan and it was none other than Groudon himself.

The Continent Pokemon of the Weather Trio did not take kindly to having his sleep interrupted and an intruder on his turf. And thus accepted Godzilla's challenge to a battle between the Rulers of Earth.

Groudon: GRAAAAAAOOOOOOOO!!!

Godzilla: SHREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOONNGGGGGKKKK!!

FIGHT!

Kaiju and Pokemon charged together at speeds thought impossible for their sizes before butting heads and clawed hands locking with each other, using their strength to try and overpower the other. Godzilla wins and judo throws Groudon over his shoulder, making him land on and break several trees in the process. Groudon recovers and fires a Solar Beam at Godzilla, who retaliates with his Atomic Breath.

The beam battle locked in a stalemate before releasing a huge explosion of neon green and sky blue energy. Groudon wastes no time using Ancient Power to hurl giant rocks at Godzilla and trapping him in a cage of rocks.

Godzilla: SHREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOONNGGGGGKKKK!!

As Godzilla uses his brute strength to destroy the rocks holding him in place, Groudon uses this opportunity to use Bulk Up, increasing his power and defense. Groudon then launches a Fire Blast that his the King of the Monsters in the chest, making him roar in anger and pain as he finally break free. But as Godzilla prepares to fire another his breath attack, the Continent Pokemon fires a Mud Shot at his face, making his roar in surprise as it obscured his view and misfires his Atomic Breath, shooting it up in the air.

By the time Godzilla wipes the mud off his face, Groudon is already in front of his with his arms glowing white.

Groudon: GRAAAAAAOOOOOOOO!!!

Groudon performs several Hammer Arms to Godzilla's face and chest, each blow staggering the King and making him step backwards. However, Godzilla grabs one of Groudon's arms and counterattacks with a Nuclear Pulse, making Groudon roar in pain as the short-ranged but powerful pulse knocks him down. Godzilla gets revenge by grabbing the Pokemon's tail and swinging him around before tossing him into the mountainside which is quickly followed by an Atomic Breath, hitting him dead in the chest that.

Godzilla quickly charged and stomped on Groudon's chest, further embedding him to the rocky wall as he continued his action before spinning and whacks Groudon's face with his tail, knocking him out of the mountainside and into the open.

Godzilla stomps forward, intent on finishing the Continent Pokemon off. But he was caught off-guard when Groudon slams his arm down, creating a crack in the earth with white sparks that's headed for Godzilla as it makes direct contact. Godzilla roars in pain as he felt huge pain from Fissure but amazingly remain upright and not KO'd. But was short-lived when Groudon uses Eruption to stagger Godzilla back before firing a Solar Beam that finally knocks him down.

The Continent Pokemon knew he needed to finish Godzilla off as fast possible. As such, a Red Orb appears in front of him and merges with his body and he underwent Primal Reversion. When Godzilla gets back up, he suddenly begins to sweat more as the sun's rays got more intense and the water begins evaporating. Look forward, his eyes widened when he sees Groudon tapping into Primal Groudon.

Primal Groudon: GRAAAAAAOOOOOOOO!!!

Godzilla fires with an Atomic Breath, but Primal Groudon counters with his Solar Beam, the green energy beam quickly overpowering the sky blue and hits Godzilla's chest. The King of the Monsters roars as he was down again, but the beam didn't relent and he was dragged into the ground by the force until Primal Groudon stopped.

But the Primal Pokemon continued the assault by launching Eruption, striking the downed Kaiju repeatedly as he was under fire from the projectiles. Godzilla could barely keep up before Primal Groudon slams his foot down and uses Earth Power, making the ground below Godzilla explode with power.

Godzilla: SHREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOONNGGGGGKKKK!!

The King of the Monsters roars in agony the blast took a lot out of him and he fell down to one knee. Seeing this, Groudon raised his arms and unleashes his strongest attack, Precipice Blades. Several spikes erupted form beneath Godzilla and pierced his body in multiple places, making him cough up blood as once stabbed him in the chest.

Huffing, Primal Groudon turns and walks away from the seemingly dead Godzilla. However, Primal Groudon stops when he heard the unmistakable sound of burning reached his ears. He looks back and sees orange spots in Godzilla's skins before the Kaijus roars, his eyes now a burning fury of orange.

Godzilla: SHREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOONNGGGGGKKKK!!

Godzilla has reached his Burning Form! With ease, he breaks the spiked rocks and roars angrily at the Primal Pokemon as he charges at Primal Groudon.

Primal Groudon: GRAAAAAAOOOOOOOO!!!

Primal Groudon attacks with Ancient Power and Eruption, but to his shock, the ancient and flaming rocks disintegrated before they could even get a dozen feet from Godzilla. Burning Godzilla rams into Primal Groudon with a shoulder tackle full force, knocking him back hundreds of feet. Primal Groudon fires an intense Solar Beam heading straight to Burning Godzilla.

But Burning Godzilla opens his maw fires his Super Red Spiral Ray. The fiery red-orange beam qucikly overpowers the Solar Beam and slams into Primal Groudon, making the Pokemon roars in agony as eh attack burned his skin that even Fire-Type attacks aren't capable of. Burning Godzilla fires more of his breath attacks that staggers Primal Groudon back.

Desperate, Primal Groudon uses Precipice Blades once more to pierce Godzilla, but he could only look on in horror as that too failed when the spikes melted the moment they made contact. Burning Godzilla takes advantage by grabbing Primal Godzilla by the throat and throwing him up into the air before unleashing an extremely powerful Super Red Spiral Ray.

Primal Groudon: GRAAAAAAOOOOOOOO!!!

Primal Groudon roars in absolute agony as he was overwhelmed by the attack. This forces Groudon to devolved back into his normal state before being consumed by the breath attack with his Red Orb cracking and breaking apart as a huge explosion occurs.

Burning Godzilla ceases his attack and took several deep breaths, reverting back to his base form. He surveys the area and can no longer see Groudon in the vicinity. The victorious King of the Monsters rears his head back and roars in triumph.

Godzilla: SHREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOONNGGGGGKKKK!!

KO!

* The weakened Godzilla walks into the sea and swims down to sleep in his lair.

* The remnants of Groudon's Red Orb can be seen lying near the volcano where Groudon used to sleep in.

Zen: *Singing* Oh no, they say, he's got to go. Go, go Godzilla~!

Kira: Groudon's slightly more varied arsenal and Primal form kept Godzilla on his toes, but he sadly came up short in everything else. Groudon raising the lands and going toe-to-toe against a being who can raise the seas in nothing to scoff at, but Godzilla has survived much, much worse. Getting sucked into a black hole, blasted by a freezing weapon that destroys at the atomic level, getting dropped from the atmosphere, even taking hits from a Kaiju whose powers were based on a weapon that killed the first Godzilla. Godzilla has pretty much done it all.

Ziana: And though both are considered old and ancient in their respective universes, Godzilla is the only one who has far more experience fighting other Kaijus who possess different abilities and powers. Whereas Groudon has mostly fought only Kyogre and even Rayquaza on one occasion and spends his time sleeping.

Zen: Primal Groudon could hit Mega Rayquaza who's can match Deoxys' speed of 986, 175 times FTL. But Godzilla's Atomic Breath has tagged SpaceGodzilla who moves at 19 billion FTL. When compared, Godzilla was 19,300 times faster than Groudon.

Ziana: But the final nail in Groudon's coffin is their power. Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre were stated to be capable of stopping the Grand Meteor Delta which will destroy Earth, something that requires over 896.53 Zettatons of TNT. Impressive but Godzilla has defeated King Ghidorah, who is stated to be a more powerful threat than the Garoga Empire and their planet busting Garoga Nukes, in which just one Garoga Nuke can deal 127.9 Tenatons of TNT. And all without Burning Godzilla being added.

Kira: And remember, Godzilla's power increased 200 times and another 6 times according to various guides. If you stack them up, Godzilla's sheer power clocks at at 10.65 MegaFOE, enough energy to destroy a Solar System!

Zen: But wait, can't we just scale Primal Groudon to Mega Rayquaza who can matched base Necrozma who absorbed the all the light in the interdimensional Ultra Space, basically a Galaxy level feat? That's definitely higher than Godzilla right?

Kira: Except while Mega Rayquaza can rival base Necrozma, it's questionable if we can scale Primal Groudon to Mega Rayquaza or even Necrozma himself in return. Sure Primal Groudon has knocked him down, but that's because he's been caught off guard and has been the one in control in their entire fight. And in the same episode, Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre were defeated by Mega Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent .

Ziana: But even if we did scale Primal Groudon to base Necrozma as a whole, Godzilla has matched Thor to a stalemate. The same Thor who can lift the Midgard Serpent and can destroy a universe. And given Marvel universe's size of at least 2 trillion light-years in diameter, that's a pretty big gap in power.

Ziana: Both monsters gave it their all in this titanic battle. However, with superior stats, experience and Burning form at his side, Godzilla retains his crown as King of the Monsters.

Zen: In the end, Groudon just got Grounded.

Kira: Really? That was weak.

Zen: Says you. I bet you're just Burning with hatred about my puns that'll leave you out of Breath. It was a Blast.

Ziana: Nice going Kira, you just made her puns worse. The winner is Godzilla.
