1 ~ The Accident

Alright so for those of you wonderful peeps that have decided to click on this story: I LOVE YOU! And that isn't because V-day is coming up and love is in the air. I actually really do appreciate it!

So

This story is an attempt at something a little different. I know chapter one is shortish but I just had to introduce the subject before full on ninja attacking this baby.

However, I would really really love it if you guys could just comment a tiny sentence telling me if you liked it or not! It would mean the world and I would be able to know whether or not it is worth continuing/starting.

Alright enough lecture.

Enjoy! -xoxoxo

Death’s POV

Everything seemed darker than usual. The kind of dark that makes you wonder whether or not someone is out there watching you. Observing you. Then comes the silence. The overwhelming, chill all the way down to the bones, silence. As if all of a sudden you are the only one there. Isolated. Alone. Silence. Last, the pain.

That just creeps slowly in the midst of your blood stream. A sly, snake, sneaking onto his only victim, patient and serene, waiting, watching.

The screams and yells are the worst once the shock has subsided. Hearing as loved ones call for one another. Children weeping, having lost sight of their mothers who lay in the debris immobile. Then there was

Her.

Tracking her movements, following her unsure footsteps, I glanced upon her. Her long, brown hair, left astray around her bruised skull. A hand holding her bleeding arm, fingers pinching at the artery. Strength slowly receding from her broken, beat body.

My time had come to take her away. My time had come to collect all the souls lost in the accident.

How surprised I was, hearing of this moment that I had missed. I never miss anything as important as this. My strength was faltering, I needed to collect. I needed to breathe. Taking in the smell of Death itself, I passed by multiple dead, mutilated corpses. One by one, I brought them to life. Not human life. The other kind of life. The after-life.

As I came upon this woman something unexpected happened. She fell.

Now, how could this ever be horrifying to me? No one gets back up after I pass. No one gets to breathe a last breath. No one gets to live anymore.

That is once I pass.

However I passed, and she breathed. I passed and her eyelids fluttered.

She had not gone.

I will make her leave.

I need to collect.

No one cheats Death.

Layla’s POV

I wasn’t sure why but never did I step foot into the Academy to perform in the winter recital. I had trained for months and months to perfect every little turn, spin and jump. The number was flawless. My mentor even said, “Magnifique”. Why did I not go?

Where was I now?

I sat up, glanced about me, taking in the scenery that was dotted with bloody, red tears marking the sunset. The pain overcame me as soon as my consciousness awoke within my sleeping body. The sensation of blood flowing back to the extremities of my toes left me cautiously walking around, unsure.

My fingers were relatively wet. Looking down I noticed the color that wasn’t my skin, covering most of my exposed body. The body that mysteriously had cuts and bruises and welts all over.

What happened?

“Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on?” I called.

Catching the attention of a nearby paramedic I leaned my weight to my heels, making robotic movements…slowing down… getting… heavier.

My eyes shut. My lips clenched. My heart beat.

The last thing I perceived before it became dark was the face of a worried man running at full speed towards my falling body.

Am I alive?
