In A World

I just don't get it. You would think that when everything that could possibly go wrong goes wrong, at least one person would care. You would also think that if a Nobel prize winner scientist couldn't stop the apocalypse and announced it on live TV that no one watching would ever dare to try, even though there is probably a limit to what we could do. Well, everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong, and nobody seems to care.

See, when I saw the first signs of the apocalypse, I was sure it was going to be like one of those old 21st century movies. I'm sure you've seen, or at least heard, of one of those movies where all the misfits and rebels and nobodies all band together to stop something horrific. With quick wit and a hint of romance, they manage to save the world.

I feel like if I were in one of those movies, I would be the leader that brings everyone together. Go down in history with Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

The reason how I know this isn't a movie is because I haven't gotten anyone together, wouldn't be able to, and have absolutely no romance in any bit of my bones. I haven't even had a steady boyfriend since... Well... Ever. Oh, and also that fact I mentioned before of how nobody cares.

I kind of get it, though. The world implodes and everyone on it is sure to die? Yeah, no big deal.

Except, the scientists already said they couldn't do it. It's already too late.

That's the problem with all those 21st century movies, they never acknowledged the fact that maybe if people banded together that it was already too late to do anything. In all the movies, it was either aliens or the human race that caused it. This was no aliens. We caused it, and now we can't fix it. We may or may not care, but that doesn't matter. Either way, it's too late.

Which is why you got this little note from me.

It's too late for us, but it's still 21st century to you. Nothing's happened yet.

Read this carefully, because this is important. Rudolph the red nosed reindeer  important. Post this somewhere you'll remember if you have to, make this your background if you must. I'm pretty sure you don't have holographic wallpaper yet, so maybe just a background will do.

You know what happens. To a small degree, of course, but you still know.

You can stop it.

Look up. Look away from this note, open your blinds, look out the bus window.

Whatever you are doing, stop and look outside.

See what needs to be done.

Do it.

Others have gotten notes like these, but just to be sure that this message is really being heard, I've decided to write more. All those crazy people you hear about, in the news and over media, talking about aliens and the end of the world. They are not crazy. I just thought that maybe I should expand the truth a bit so people would care, but that only made them go into their own little fantasy world and question everything except what was in that note. That's why this one is different. Forward, straight to the point, short and... Semi sweet.

This one is different, because this is my last letter. I only have a few minutes left.

Time travel exists, but is very limited. If we could send people back in time, I would have come long ago. I would've changed the future.

If you feel as though you can not fulfill what I have asked, or don't know how to, share this message. Write more letters. Do what you can. And, hey, I remember learning in history class that Wattpad was pretty big back then. Why don't you write a book on Wattpad? Oh, I know, title it 'Dear Whoever's Reading This.' It's sure to get someone's attention.

Good luck.
