Letter #49

Tuesday, July 28th, 1797

My Dearest, Theodosia,

                                                Things appear to have taken a turn for the worst with my father. I know we promised not to discuss it, but I feel like I do not have a choice as I have no one else to discuss this with.

Since the publication of this book, Father has, according to Angelica, changed completely. Not only did he admit to the authenticity of the papers published, but he also said the charges were false and misleading. To any normal person, this may seem like nothing, but to someone who knows Father, I know that there is more to this story then he is admitting.

Angelica mentioned how he disappeared off to Philadelphia recently, giving no explanation as to why or what he plans to do. He is known for his disappearing acts but never has he made no attempt to explain why he is leaving and why he has to leave so quickly.

Something is not right, Theo, and I am not looking forward to finding out what it may be.

Love Always,

Philip Hamilton.

My Dearest, Philip,

                                      I know I am simply repeating myself, but you need to stop worrying about what your father is doing. He is a grown man who can handle himself so whatever he is doing, I am more than certain you are fretting over nothing.

I must keep this letter brief as I am writing it during one of my lessons with Father. Stop worrying, Philip, I am sure everything will be fine.

Love Always,

Theodosia Burr.

Notes;

We know Alexander Hamilton left for Philadelphia in late July, from his location, he wrote the infamous Reynolds Pamphlet. A ninety-five-page document detailing his affair with Maria Reynolds in the early stages of the century.
