Afterward

Theodosia Burr Alston was officially declared dead in early January 1813, thus ending our love story. We hope these letters have been able to shed some light onto the unknown lives of Theodosia Burr Alston and Philip Hamilton as well as the era they lived in. For Historical purposes, we have tried to provide as much context on the events noted as we can, though some exchanges were not significant to us. We included these letters in the hope that they help to construct the relationship between these two unknown figures even if they hold no significance to historians.

Judging by the collection of letters we have, it is obvious that Eliza managed to find the hidden letters from Alston amongst her son's belongings. Over the years, it is likely these letters were simply gathered up and deemed to be some of Alexander Hamilton's writings, hence the locations they were found in all those years later. Whether this was done by Eliza or one of her children, we do not know, but we do know that these letters have helped to shed some light on the case of these two mysterious figures.

To this day, the lives on Theodosia Burr Alston and Philip Hamilton will remain a mystery to many historians, baffling even the most intelligent among us. Although these letters help to shed light on these events, it is unlikely we will ever know how their lives officially played out. One day, we hope these mysterious, tragic figures become more known, for we believe the American public needs to know about these two intelligent, yet tragic children and all they lived through.
