12 - Missing you

It has been three months since Taehyung broke up with Rena and transferred to a different school in a foreign country.

It has been three months since I last saw Jimin, too...

I thought that maybe he was busy with his work that he couldn't make time to see me. It wasn't like he was obliged to do so, either, so I had no rights to be sulking about the fact that he didn't come to meet me.

But I still missed him every now and then and waited for him to appear out of nowhere around me.

If only I had the power to teleport anywhere I wanted, I would have easily visited his home just like that.

Unfortunately, I was just a sad little human with no magical powers whatsoever.

"Teacher, may I go to the infirmary? I don't feel so good."

Rena would go to the school nurse every once in a while like that and I was becoming really concerned about her condition lately. I never imagined that Taehyung would be affecting her that much after he left her and it had been months already.

"I'll accompany her," I told the teacher before running out the door after her.

"Rena?"

She turned to look at me with soulless eyes. "What?"

I bit my lips, unable to say anything.

I couldn't bear seeing her still hung up on him.

Telling her to forget him was easy from my side... but on her side, it was almost impossible to do. That's why, I couldn't just go ahead and spout such useless stuff.

Instead, I bit my tongue and linked our arms together before continuing to walk.

She didn't say anything and let me do whatever I wanted.

It was lunchtime when I was sitting on the bed where Rena was laying on in the infirmary.

My stomach suddenly roared, shattering the deafening silence.

"Why don't you go and have your lunch," she murmured drowsily.

"Aren't you coming with me?"

She gently shook her head. "I'm not hungry... You go ahead."

I felt bad, but at the same time, I couldn't help my hunger that was exponentially growing. I had been starving since morning.

"Okay. I'll be back."

I stood up and was walking to the door when she suddenly said, "You don't have to do that. Don't cut your classes because of me, Lyn."

I wanted to say that I was fine, but I didn't want to worry her further, so I just nodded my head and walked out, heading to the cafeteria.

I stopped on my tracks when I saw a crowd circling around a table inside the place. Mobbing, more like.

What in tarnation...

Who are they all mobbing like that?

A celebrity?

Shrugging it off, I walked over to the counter and scanned the menu for something filling. My insides were beginning to eat itself.

The murmurs died down so quickly all of a sudden and I turned around to see what happened. When suddenly...

I came face to face with someone I hadn't seen for a long time.

"Hi," he sang, looking into my eyes, a warm smile dancing on his lips. "It's been a while."

I gasped out loud. I couldn't believe my own eyes.

"Jimin?!"

"Did you miss me that much," he chuckled before gently sweeping my hair behind my shoulder. He accidentally touched my neck during the process and I blushed like an idiot from the contact.

"Does he know her?"

"Are they friends or what?"

Those people, mainly girls, who were surrounding him just now were staring at me confused. Some were even frowning.

He's a spirit, not a human, so y'all have no chance anyway. What are y'all mad at me for?

Jimin snorted before covering his mouth.

Stop reading my mind and read theirs instead, you old man.

"I'm not old," he whined, pouting at me.

"You're too old to be in this school, though." I crossed my arms, cocking an eyebrow. "What are you even doing here, wearing our uniform, old man?"

He heaved a long sigh with his head down before looking back at the crowd. The girls looked away, blushing when they caught his eyes on them.

Jimin suddenly grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the cafeteria.

"What the-"

"Let's talk in private."

Is he going to talk about something secret?

"No, but it's definitely not something mortals should hear."

But... I'm a mortal...?

"I know," he chuckled. "Let's go to the infirmary."

No!

He stopped and looked at me. "Why?"

"Um..." My eyes darted around the hallway. "We could go to the backyard, instead. Let's go!"

It was my turn to drag him now.

"But why?"

No reason, really...

He frowned a little. "O... kay then..."

We walked out the school entrance and arrived at the backyard. I patted the spot next to me after sitting down on the ground. He plopped down beside me and heaved a sigh, looking up at the sky.

"After I sent you home that day, I got transferred to a different region."

"Oh... And that's why you were gone for a while?"

He hummed. "Yep... And I rioted, demanding that I get sent back here."

Why did you do that though...

"Because I missed you of course," he exclaimed in disbelief while looking at me with big eyes.

I scoffed. "Yeah, sure... Spare me your flirting, please."

"What do you mean 'flirting'? Don't lie to me that you didn't miss me as well."

As if I would miss you...

He leaned down and locked our gazes, our foreheads almost touching. "You're lying, aren't you?"

Nope.

"Then I guess I'll just go back," he mumbled bitterly before standing up and dusting his uniform.

In the blink of an eye, he vanished into thin air. I didn't expect him to actually disappear like that before me.

"J-Jimin?"

Nothing.

I started panicking.

What if he really did go back? What if he doesn't come back now?

"I was just joking! I did miss you! Please don't go," I yelled to the empty space.

My hands were shaking.

I fucked up...

I fucked up for real!

"Ji-"

"Boo!" He suddenly boomed behind me, slamming his hands on my shoulders, causing me to jump while shrieking.

He clutched his stomach, laughing at me.

I turned around to push him away in anger. "Why did you scare me like that?! I was afraid that you actually left me for good!"

"Because you didn't admit that you missed me, sweetie," he chuckled while grabbing my hands that were trying to shove him away and pulling me so that our chests were touching.

"Why don't you tell me the truth now?" He whispered into my ear.

I gulped. I had to say it if I didn't want him to go.

My cheeks were burning when I muttered, "I missed you... Jimin."

He smiled warmly, eyeing me tenderly, and caressed my cheek.

"I missed you more, Lyn."
