006 🪁 | A GUIDE TO IMPROVING GIF QUALITY

I KNOW this tutorial has taken me ages to post and I'm really really sorry about that. But! Now that it's here, I do hope it's easy enough to follow (even with the lack of videos) and that I haven't kept everything too succinct <3

NOTE: You will need to refer to the following tutorial at some point: A Guide to Combining Gifs [Photoshop]

i. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP ONE !

Open Photopea and import your current project.

**this is the one that i'll be using for this example**

ii. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP TWO !

Firstly, select all frames in the layer channel. Then, go to Filter ⇢ Stylise ⇢ Diffuse.

iii. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP THREE !

Once this window appears (see below), you'll need to change the diffuse mode to Anisotropic before selecting OK.

iv. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP FOUR !

It should currently look something like this.

Clearly, it smooths things out a bit too much. So! In order to fix that, you'll need to combine the original gif that you imported into Photopea with the one you just exported▬as a result, please refer to the following tutorial: A Guide to Combining Gifs [Photoshop].

v. ִֶָ˚⊹ STEP FIVE !

Step Eleven from A Guide to Combining GIFs [Photoshop] covers erasing all colour from the clipping mask layer and some colour from the non-clipping mask layer.

However, for this tutorial, start by lowering the opacity of the non-clipping mask layer to 75%. Then, use the Eraser Tool to remove any colour from around the eyes, lips, nose, and ears of anyone in your gif (bc those are the areas that make everything look wonky when diffused).
