Letter #5

November 10, 1996

Dear Lillian,

I feel like it takes years to get your reply to my letters. I can't believe that it's been 5 years since I started writing to you. Is is silly to say that I still have all of your old letters? They're all stored in the bottom of my dresser. Is that weird? Tell me if it is, Lil. None of my friends even know that I still write to you. I feel like they would laugh at me. It's nice just having some to talk to, even if I've never seen your face. I'm a Freshman at the high school now. Life is getting crazy with all the new responsibilities. I already have three essays due tomorrow, but I'd rather write to you instead.

I read the book that you liked, "To Kill a Mockingbird". I'm surprised by how honest and real it was. It kinda shows the dark side of the U.S. Us Americans aren't as perfect as we seem. Did you read the Sci-Fi book I sent you? Space just seem so amazing to me, do you think people could live on the moon one day? Do you believe in aliens!? There has to be more intelligent life then just humans out there! Sure, call me a nerd, but I'm a believer!

Not to leave out on a sad note, but I just wanted to let you know that my parents have finally gotten a divorce. I've know it was coming, but it still sucks. Thing will get better, eventually. How is your dad doing? It kinda makes me mad to know that he drinks so much around you. I wish their was something I could do. Just hang in there.

     Your friend,
Dillion.
