Explained.
A lot of you were confused starting from Chapter 20 until the end. This wasn't edited at all so sorry for any mistakes.
BTW, these last five chapters were inspired by The movie Black Swan, the one with Natalie Portman in it. 'I felt it. Perfect, it was perfect.'
For you all asking: Why is he dead right away? It's supposed to be that way, the confusions in the end were supposed to remain that way and it was supposed to be up to you to realize why and how the story ended. It's like a puzzling movie or a game of some sort, things aren't explained lmao. But since everyone demands for a fixed explanation, here you go go.
So first I'm going to post a detailed recap (because most of you have forgotten shit HAHAHA) and an explanation!
Chapter 20: Shows a scene from two years ago from when Jinshil killed the helpless Yumi. And after that, the scene went to the present time in Jinshil's POV. Jinshil asked Seolhee to join her on her way to the rooftop, but Jinshil ended up attempting to strangle Seolhee. Seolhee, on the other hand, fought back, and attempted to push Jinshil down the stairs, quoting, 'I couldn't let you kill me, Jinshil. Not again'.
Chapter 21: Jinshil then saw Yumi in Seolhee and begged for her to spare her, but Seolhee then said something about her killing Jungkook. Jinshil suddenly teleported into two unexplainable places- her classroom where she saw short-haired Yumi and an unknown room where she saw short-haired Yumi having sex with Jungkook.
After that, she teleported back to reality, and was stuck in the scene where Seolhee was attempting to push her down the stairs. And then a furious Jungkook interrupted, and aggressively pulled Jinshil down the stairs and asked her why she attempted to push Seolhee down the stairs, which was weird as hell because Seolhee was the one doing it. And then 'Seolhee' came down and held her shoulder then said that it was Jinshil who actually attempted to push Seolhee down.
Chapter 22: It was Seolhee's point of view this time, and it showed the stairs scene as well but in a completely different perspective. 'Jinshil' tried to kiss Seolhee and she did, but it turns out she was Donggyu. Fucking Donggyu man. Then she teleported into a place where she saw young Yumi getting abused by her mom, and even saw her young self dressed in pretty clothes but didn't save Yumi at all.
Then short-haired Yumi appeared, telling her that they both look alike until now, and revealed that they were childhood friends which was what Seolhee had forgotten. Yumi attempted to strangle her like what her mom did to her when she was young to help Seolhee ring a bell of what a terrible friend she was for not being there for Yumi. But after that Seolhee went back to reality and saw Jinshil almost pushing her down the stairs. Then Jinshil became Yumi, and Yumi said that Seolhee was the one who actually killed her, not Jinshil who we know killed Yumi two years ago.
Chapter 23: Jungkook was there, and in his POV it was Jinshil who actually had tried to push Seolhee down the stairs. Then, fast-forward, and then we saw Jinshil lying on the bed in the infirmary with worried Seolhee looking after her. It revealed that Jinshil had fainted after having a weird vision. After that, curious Jungkook was determined to find where Yumi lives and who she was, but he ran across a student with the same short hair as Yumi, and it was her. She was wearing their uniform and her nametag was shown, so she was a goddamn student. She told Jungkook that she wasn't actually dead, and even asked why the killer wasn't with him.
Who the hell was the killer? Simple, Nam Seolhee.
Chapter 24: Seolhee was at home, and she refused to respond kindly to her mom's commands to open her bedroom door. She then told her mom to go away and she did as she was told, and then Seolhee started crying. She then saw a long-haired Yumi on the bed, holding a rock Seolhee had written on.
Yumi was nice and told Seolhee again how they were alike, then encouraged her to not kill herself because she had more to live for. Yumi then pointed out the eerie similarities in both of their lives and claimed that no one has ever lived their own life differently from someone else's before, so it means that Yumi and Seolhee are stuck to the reality that they're basically the same person. And after that Yumi told her that those who fall in love are those who are cursed.
Chapter 25: Jinshil and Seolhee are at the rooftop two months after, and they both talked about Jungkook, then it revealed that he died. They both shouted to 'No One' from the top of the building and told Jungkook that they both love him very much.
E X P L A N A T I O N T I M E
Okay so, for starters, thee is one Yumi who appeared in these last six chapters. short-haired Yumi, and long-haired Yumi showed up in the 24th chapter. Short-haired Yumi was the living metaphor of an evil conscience, which means that she isn't real, she's both a product of Jinshil and Seolhee's head. Long-haired Yumi was the real ghost of Yumi, kind-hearted and soft.
Short-haired Yumi appeared in Jinshil's 'visions' as her fears and as someone who made her think of Seolhee as the bad person. Jinshil's fear was Yumi haunting her life forever- which was indicated in the first scene Jinshil was teleported to: her classroom where she saw Yumi, still alive. Yumi being alive was the last thing she wanted to see, because she didn't want her to be there and haunt her.
Another of Jinshil was losing Jungkook to someone else, and that was indicated from the time where she saw Jungkook having sex with Yumi. Short-haired Yumi also made Jinshil think that Seolhee was the one who attempted to push her down the stairs, but the real thing was they switched places. And even made her think that Seolhee was a maniac, which she isn't.
Short-haired Yumi also appeared in Seolhee's visions as her fear and her remembrance. Her fear was when Donggyu kissing her again (his possessiveness), which wasn't true at all. It was Jinshil who was in front of her, and they didn't actually kiss, Short-haired Yumi also brought Seolhee (remembrance) to the dimension where she saw her young self failing to save young Yumi. Seolhee then remembered that Yumi was her childhood feiend.
It was true, though, and Seolhee was a bad friend, and short-haired Yumi made her think and become conscious of the fact that she was the one who actually killed her. 'Killing' wasn't the actual killing, but killing means- killing of childhood, killing of her own identity, and the killing of her happiness and hope.
Long-haired Yumi was kind because she was the actual ghost of Yumi who made Seolhee think that life was worth living, and that she shouldn't kill herself. Yumi had also forgiven her and Jinshil, so there's no anger in her heart.
But why did short-hair Yumi appear in Jungkook's vision as a real student?
Jungkook is in a different case, he turned to lose himself (signs of craziness) from that chapter where he saw her. This short-haired Yumi was real and only in his eyes, and she made him think as if Seolhee was a killer, but he tried his best not to believe her.
Unrevealed scenes:
Jungkook and Seolhee actually became a couple.
Jungkook died because of KWON JINSHIL (as revealed in the epilogue. After Seolhee and her bonded in Chapter 25, Seolhee found out that it was Jinshil who killed Jungkook, and someone sent her to jail).
The reason why it happened? Well, that leaves it to your imagination.
You can use Jungkook confusing Seolhee, Jinshil and Yumi as a base.
I didn't want to go to much into the death parth because I want it to be a big mystery, and who knows, I maybe showing a full pictre for you guys sometime in the future ;)
THE END.
