Chapter 16
A/N: WTF I loved writing this chapter very much, hahaha.

After dragging Jungkook away from the main building, Jinshil immediately stopped in the middle of the basketball court. Her grip pulled away from the bewildered Jungkook who gave her a perplexed look. She took a deep breath to say something but refused to look at her boyfriend in the eye.
"Jeon Jungkook," she said, trying to sound as heartless as possible to see if he cares, "Answer me frankly. Do you still love me? Do you still care about me, huh?" She asked, finally looking up to Jungkook who's still speechless.
"Why aren't you answering?" She continued, her voice suddenly turning pissed.
"Of course, yes I do, why are you asking me this?" Jungkook replied, not giving any hint of sincerity to her. He sounded apathetic and emotionless to her. But maybe, that's only what she thinks. She doesn't know. All she thinks about is Seolhee because she has never left her mind once.
"Do you think I can't tell?" Jinshil asked, her voice almost cracking. "Do you know how I found out about you saving Seolhee? I found out because I knew you snook through the principal's office to know where Donggyu lives. But do you know that, that's what I planned to do with my brother too, Jungkook? We thought that we'll be the ones who'll save her but you did so first."
Jungkook was overwhelmed by her words. He never knew about his girlfriend's intentions with Seolhee.
Because he probably didn't even bother to care.
"Do you think I don't remember that time when I saw you run after Seolhee? It wasn't long ago. I saw it with my own eyes, my brother was confronting Donggyu and you were there waiting for the chance to come save her. It seemed to me that it was only her in your mind at that time, as if I never crossed your mind even once. I was hurt but what did I tell you? I told you that Seolhee's already fine that time." Jinshil said, fanning her tears to prevent them from flowing down.
"I told you that because I wanted to be the one to save her, not you. Do you know how many times I tried to save her as well? But I kept on failing? Isn't it funny how instead of being lovers, we're both competing with each other instead? Possibly on who saves Seolhee and who fails to do so. And now you won, you possibly won her heart too, so congratulations." Jinshil said and pointed at Jungkook and faked an applaud.
As much as Jinshil wanted to dig out the main reason from the back of her head why she wanted to save Seolhee so much, she couldn't. All she can tell from her actions is that she remembered someone- or something that she failed to do something good to that resembled Seolhee in some way. And she's now back to fix a mistake, but maybe it's just the unexplainable thoughts in her head.
Or maybe she just wanted to feel good for once.
"When you've forgotten about me, I knew you ran to chase after Seolhee. When you ditched me, I knew you were there to console Seolhee who was crying so loud that day. It was Seolhee who you called beautiful, you know that. right? I didn't save her that time because I knew you were there. But at the same time I wanted to save her so much too."
"It's what I always wanted, you know? I told you before that I wanted to save people because I couldn't live knowing that someone is in danger and could die at any moment. How about you, Jungkook? Is that what you feel?" She asked as a rhetorical question, her cheeks stained with tears.
Jungkook didn't hesitate to wordlessly wrap his arms around Jinshil, hugging her tighter than he ever did to anyone before.
Jinshil didn't hug back and instead whispered, "If I kissed you right now, would you still feel the sparks you felt from when I first did?"
"Jinshil, please, don't say that.. I'm sorry alright? I'm really sorry, I didn't know I was capable of doing this to you. Please give me a chance." Jungkook said through the embrace, but he still didn't feel any arms around him saying that she accepts his apology.
"I want to, I really want to. I feel like I gave you too many chances but you wasted them all. I love you Jungkook, but I'm aware that you probably don't return the same feeling anymore. It feels as if you love Seolhee more even after meeting her after a short period of time, unlike me here who has known you since a long time ago."
"Why... are you saying this? I love you, Jinshil, please let me make it up to you. I'm sorry for everything." Jungkook pleaded and released himself from the hug, subsequently holding both of her hands to ask her.
"But what about Seolhee? Seolhee needs someone, you know. Someone who isn't me, someone who makes her feel loved more than anyone. You've seen her face and know what she feels most of the time. She needs someone to care for her and we can't let this go. Do you love Seolhee, Jungkook?"
•
"Do you like Jungkook?" At the same time, from a different place, Jaeyong asked Seolhee an identical question. Seolhee's eyes widened and she immediately shook her head in response. Why is he asking this?, Seolhee thought to herself.
"What are you saying?" Seolhee playfully punched Jaeyong's shoulder while he pretended to be extremely hurt by her hit.
"OUCH! That hurts, really! Seolhee why do you have to do that?" He whined like a little kid, aiding his shoulder to ease the 'pain.' Seolhee frantically walked to Jaeyong and asked him if he was okay. He poked her forehead and winked at her.
"I was kidding you, dummy. Okay okay, I won't ask you about him anymore." He stuck his tongue out with a smile and ruffled Seolhee's hair in response.
"Anyway, come with me, I'm going to show you something." He told Seolhee and held out his hand for her to hold on to. Seolhee just stared at his opened fist and gave him a questioning look.
"Hold my hand, of course." He told her and she closed both of her eyes adorably and accepted his hand, feeling his warm hand on hers as he guided her to the school garden. After stopping at their destination, Jaeyong immediately pointed at the koi pond that lies beneath the surrounding small area of vegetation.
"What's with this?" Seolhee cluelessly asked.
"Aren't koi fishes cute?" Jaeyong asked enthusiastically. Seolhee just shrugged and smiled a little.
"Of course they are. I've seen them before, I know they're cute." She replied. He turned to her and gave her a wide smile.
"Same goes with you. I've seen you before, I know you're cute, and I still think you are." Jaeyong said, surprising Seolhee. A sudden shade of red tinted her pale cheeks and she looked away from him so that he couldn't see her reaction.
"Why... are you saying stuff like these?" She stammered in response.
"Well I couldn't help it, I find you adorable you know?" He said and gave out a chuckle.
He then looked as his watch to look at the time, and that's when he realized that it's already time for the next period. "Oh wait, Seolhee, we need to get going now. Let's go to class together." He said and held his hand out again.
But this time, Seolhee refused. "You can go, I want to stay here for a moment."
"But you'll be late?" Jaeyong worriedly said. Seolhee shook her head and insisted.
"It's fine, you could go now." She said again. Jaeyong stared at her for a couple of seconds before walking away from her. After a few minutes, she looked back at him and realized that he was already out of her sight.
She then trudged her way back to the main building, aiming for the girls' restroom to go off too.
That's when she saw the broken-hearted Jinshil come out of the door.
Jinshil paused when she laid her eyes on Seolhee who's slowly beginning to drown in worry, but then tried to hastily walk past her since it was hard for her to look at Seolhee straight in the eye at this stare.
But still, Seolhee held on her forearm to make her stop walking away from her.
"Jinshil-ssi, what happened?" Seolhee asked, receiving no reply but a hug from Jinshil instead, a tight and sincere one. One that's full of emotions. Seolhee was first taken aback by the sudden embrace but she shugged back.
"Do you know what this is, Seolhee?" Jinshil asked in between her snifles. "This is a hug from Jungkook. He hugged me earlier but I thought I wasn't worthy enough to hug him back, so I'm passing it onto you." Jinshil said.
Seolhee was speechless and unable to think straight at the moment. When Jinshil pulled away from the hug, she didn't hesitate to hug her again. Even tighter now and with more emotions.
"And this hug is from me to you because I wish you all the best. Don't hesitate to call me if you need help when he fails to be there." And after that, Jinshil immediately ran away to her next class.
What did Jungkook do to her? Did he hurt Jinshil?
Thoughts just flooded Seolhee's mind as she started to think of possible things that lead Jinshil to this misery.
