Chapter 8: A Game of Cat and Mouse

Run, little one.

Run, I say!

Don't ever let her catch you

If you want to see the light of day.

Suffering from the consequences

Of your own actions, I see.

I told you, didn't I?

Didn't I warn you to let her be?

But you didn't listen,

You stubborn little child.

Because of you the tamed house cat

Went back to the ways of the wild.

Now she's feral,

Now she's cruel,

With lust and hunger

As her fire and her fuel.

However, something is missing —

A prey to bite and chew.

Where can she find such a thing?

Oh, wait a minute, there's... you.

Come here little one.

Why don't we have a chat?

Let's play a game of cat and mouse.

I'm the feline. You're the rat.

You can run around the jungle

Or hide from my sharp claws.

But if I catch you by the tail,

I'll have you between my jaws.

What do you say, little mouse?

Do we have ourselves a deal?

Your choice doesn't matter at all.

Either way, you'll end up as my meal.

So what are you waiting for?

Aren't you going to run?

The chase makes life more exciting.

Feel the thrill and the rush of the hunt.

Fun Fact: I love felines.

I love all kinds of cats. They can be tame housepets or savage predators of the wild. That's why I chose to represent 'her' as a feline. At first 'she' was a shy, gentle kitty, but soon became a merciless beast when Shadow Knight released 'her' from prison.

Question and Answer: Here is a section where you can ask anything about the poem or the work itself. I'll do my best to answer them all.
