Andin had arrived exactly five minutes before the guests were being led by the EO into the dining hall. Even though Sebastian had told her to enjoy herself, she knew she had to make sure that the event went on without a hitch so she had gone to meet Jackie, the event organizer. Jackie had been Andin's friend since college and recently she had started her Event Organizer business. Since Andin wanted to help her friend, she had given this job to her instead of the usual EO who had been arranging such events for Sebastian and Summers Entertainment.
It seemed that she'd been right to talk to Jackie as soon as she'd arrived because Jackie looked frantic. "What happened?" Andin asked.
"Oh, Andin, what should I do? We're doomed!" Her friend was literally shaking, cold sweat forming on her temples despite the air conditioner being turned on. "Well, I'm doomed, for sure."
"Calm down and tell me what's wrong," asked Andin, keeping herself calm and cool headed so that she could find the right solution.
Except that there was no right solution here. The singer who'd been booked to sing happy birthday to Sebastian had a diarrhea and couldn't perform tonight.
"I really wish I can sing!" cried Jackie, her face looked pale. She wanted to blame the singer so badly but even she knew that this was a mere coincidence that the light snack being served had eel in it and the singer simply could not stomach it. The poor girl was still occupying one of the bathroom cubicles.
"We can find someone in the audience, maybe?" Damon suggested. "I mean, most of the guests are artists and people who work in the entertainment industry, right? Surely there's someone who won't mind singing for your boss."
Damon had been right but knowing her boss and how he had prided himself, there was no way he would accept one of his guests singing for him freely. He would be embarrassed and then Jackie and her company would suffer. "No. We can't. Sebastian won't have it. He'll be pissed if he knows we ask one of his guests to sing for him."
Jackie blinked and when she stared at Andin, her face finally regained its natural color. "You can sing, Andin. You should sing!"
Andin almost choked on her tongue. "W-what?"
"You can sing. I know you do. You won that talent show back when we were in college. Why don't you sing for him? I'm sure he won't mind if it is you."
Damon nodded in agreement. "She's right. Your boss won't even know that you're not supposed to be singing. He'll think that this is part of the plan and that you want to surprise him."
"B-but—"
Before Andin could utter her disagreement, both of her friends already started planning what needed to be done. They agreed that Andin's red dress was a killer dress thus she didn't need to swap her attire. Damon and Jackie were still discussing about her make-up and accessories for her hair when Andin finally found her voice back. "Wait!"
Both of her friends stopped their discussion and looked at her.
"I can not sing for Sebastian! That's way too personal! He's my boss for goodness sake! Plus we're not that close!" Andin shook her head frantically, she couldn't even imagine singing for him let alone truly doing it.
"Oh, come on, Andin. Please," begged Jackie, holding Andin's hands. "This is my first gig, I don't want it to fail."
"You're going to be alright, Andin Dearest," said Damon, trying to convince her. "Did you not say that you want to surprise him with your new look so he would stop with those annoying thoughts he has about you?" He lifted one brow and smiled. "This would give you the perfect, grand entrance. All eyes will be on you including his."
Andin closed her eyes and gathered her thoughts. Damon had been right and what was more important, she wanted Jackie's business to succeed. Giving her this job would open her chances to meet Sebastian's great connections which perhaps could be her future clients.
"Okay, okay. I'll do it."
Both Damon and Jackie squealed in joy, clapping their hands while Andin tried to recall all of the condescending comments Sebastian had ever said to her, about her being uptight and prim.
Oh, to prove him wrong and to see the look of surprise on his face would salve her wounded pride.
A few minutes later, Andin was literally trembling as she waited to make her entrance. Perhaps she shouldn't have let Damon and Jackie talk her into doing this. Nevertheless, she was already here right outside the huge door leading to the dining hall. Someone inside was making a speech and once the speech was over, she would make her entrance. Cheers followed with applause had erupted, indicating that it was her time now.
Jackie gave her a brief hug and Damon whispered encouraging words to her ear.
Okay. All she had to do was go up there and then sing for him. How hard could that possibly be?

Sebastian was still glancing about the room. Andin wasn't here. He was tempted to give her another call but that would only up the number of missed calls she would see on her phone.
"Damn it," he cursed under his breath, not paying attention to what his brother, Thornton, had been saying on the podium. His mind was too distracted by his missing secretary. Then a dangerous thought came to his mind. Perhaps she had been too occupied with her lover, this Damon Matthews guy, that she had not had a chance to inform him that she would not be attending his birthday party. The curiosity mixed with jealousy started to eat him up.
The band started playing the prelude of happy birthday in a slow tempo. Sebastian let out an exasperated sigh, he could care less about the song. All he wanted was for Miss Andin Williams to be here so his mind could finally rest. Yet the surprise exclamations and gasps from the guests around him piqued his curiosity. When it had become unbearable, he leaned back in his seat and glanced at the entrance to see what had caused the buzz. Almost immediately, his throat choked and his eyes widened. Standing there in a striking red dress with a high slit that exposed her creamy thigh was none other than his uptight, professional secretary.

So far so good. Andin's breath had calmed down as she walked through the double doors and on her way to the dance floor. She'd made it up the aisle between tables from the entrance all the way here without falter or worse, tripping herself. She was grateful that the guest's response to her grand entrance was positive, buzzing in wonder and appreciation.
Andin spotted Sebastian as soon as she stepped onto the dance floor. After all, she had been the one arranging for this event. She knew where he would be sitting and with whom. He was sitting directly opposite where the band was set up next to his latest woman, London Star. Just as usual, he looked dangerously and infuriatingly handsome in his dark blue shirt that enhanced the vivid ocean blue of his eyes. Except that tonight he looked dumbstruck. In fact, utterly so. His lips parted and his eyes widened. He clearly had not expected to see her secretary dressed up so seductively and holding a microphone, ready to sing for him.
Her gaze slid briefly to the woman sitting next to him. Blonde wavy hair, pouty red lips, and black shimmering dress. She looked stunning as if she had just walked out of the latest fashion magazine and yet Sebastian's eyes were glued on Andin. Unaccountably, a sweet sense of satisfaction swept through her. She gave him a warm smile, one that she had never ever given him before for she always secured a polite one in the office. Then she walked to the podium. She deliberately put a more seductive sway on her hips to help him focus his attention to where she wanted it to be.
There was simply nothing to lose. She would hand her resignation letter tomorrow first thing in the morning and then go off elsewhere, preferably in a place where she didn't have to witness Sebastian's wild, playboy behavior.
Tonight, she'd drive him crazy! Revenge had never tasted this sweet!
The band was grinning at her and gave her a thumbs up. Andin took the microphone and swallowed a couple of times to moisten her throat before she began to sing. Not the kind of happy birthday that anyone would sing in a kids party; she sang the seductive kind. One that only Marilyn Monroe had dared to sing for the president once upon a time.
The audience settled and hushed and the band started to play with the tempo she wanted.
"Ha... ppy birth... day..." she took another breath. "Dear... Seb..."
A ripple of applause ran around the dining hall and Andin watched her boss tilt his head back in delight, a low chuckle emerging from his throat. It seemed that he had indeed recovered from his shock and was now enjoying her performance. And what a performance she'd given him! She had done it so flawlessly, giving a touch of her husky tone which added to the seduction and perfection.
There was a look of bewitched and bemused in Sebastian's face as if he was completely under her spell. Andin drew out the last line with a sensual innuendo as she sang, "to... you..."
Her lips rounded in a suggestive oval as if she was blowing him a long kiss.
The crowd erupted in cheers and whistles. Everyone was cheering but Sebastian did not even move his eyes from her. His gaze was burning to her.
Then the band played the song one more time in a cherry, happier tempo, one that everyone in the family gathering usually sang and all the guests were singing as a huge birthday cake was being brought to Sebastian. Andin got off the podium and followed the crowd until she stood next to the dark forest cake with the text 'Happy Birthday, Sebastian' made from icing that was placed on top of it.
Andin glanced at her boss, her lips curled into a genuine smile as she wished him a happy birthday.
"Happy birthday, Mister Summers."
