Galvanize

Dear Juliet, your birthday past, you told me Scott gave you a new bracelet with a heart on it, your mom gave you photo frames so I hang them up for you, Demetri and Isaiah gave you a some books from their time era, and I gave you a photo of us. You said, That's the best of them all.

I heard my dad from the desk. I saw a guy, strapped in the cart. Police surrounded the guy.

"Oh, here we go." My mom said as she handed me the clipboard. I gulp as I saw the man.

"Hey. He is not coming in." Sheriff came in telling my dad.

"This is the only hospital that will take him." He confirmed him.

"What about County?"

"You'd be surprised how fast things fill up when a guy like this needs surgery."

"They turfed him to us?" My mom told my dad.

"Yeah. If County doesn't want to operate on him"

"Then someone has to."

"Somebody needs to do his pre-op interview."

"Who usually does that?" My dad asked.

"Me." I blurted. I took a deep breath.

"Try to keep in mind exactly what this guy's capable of. He's a former electrical engineer who decided to walk onto a school bus with a shrapnel bomb. He left four students dead and a fifth with no legs." My dad added as I was ready to go in.

"Just out of curiosity, have any of his psychiatrists made any progress?" My mom told him.

"I'm told this is the same thing almost every day. When he gets out, he's going to do it again. And next time, he's going to get it right."

"I can do this." I told myself. I rather be helping Stiles and Scott trash coachs office for Halloween tonight, but I'm stuck here.

"Do you want me to come in with you?" My dad advised.

"Yes." I looked at him with my scared eyes. We walked in and I walked to the patient, "Mr. Barrow, do you understand that scar tissue has formed around a piece of shrapnel that remains in your body from a previous injury and that it is now blocking vital functions?" I told him as I looked at the clipboard.

"Yes." He said.

"Do you understand that we must put you under general anesthesia tomorrow morning in order to remove the obstruction?" I asked him again.

"Do you kids still pull pranks the day before Halloween?"

"You mean Mischief Night?" I answered.

"Where I'm from, we called it Hell Night. Hmm. And, yes, I understand."

"Do you have any allergies to any medications?" I continued with the medical stuff.

"No."

"Are you taking any medications other than the ones listed here? Temazepam. Divalproex."

"I just take what they give me."

"I'm going to need to listen to his heart." I pulled my Stethoscope. "In And out. In. In." He came close to my face.

"Why don't you just ask the question you really want to ask?" He whispers.

"Why did you do it?" I told him.

"I saw their eyes. Their eyes were glowing. I saw them. I saw their eyes! Their eyes were glowing! Their eyes were glowing! Their eyes were glowing!" I jumped and my dad held and carried me out of the room.

"Go home." He told. He didn't need to say that twice. I gathered my things, clocked out, and ran home.

I went with Scott on his motorcycle. It's pretty cool.

"You're back in school?" Scott said to Aiden and Ethan who park next to us.

"No, just to talk."

"Oh. That's kind of a change of pace for you guys. Usually, you're just hurting, maiming, and killing."

"You need a pack. We need an Alpha."

"Yeah. Absolutely not. That's hilarious though." Stiles said as he came in.

"You came to us for help. We helped."

"You beat his face into a bloody pulp. That's not helping. In my opinion, that's actually counter-productive." I added.

"Why would I say yes?" Scott carried on.

"We'd add strength. We'd make you more powerful. There's no reason to say no."

"I can think of one. Like the two of you holding Derek's claws while Kali impaled Boyd. In fact, I don't know why we're not impaling them right now." Isaac came in pissed as he told the twins that.

"You want to try?"

"Sorry, but they don't trust you. And neither do I." Scott told them. Then they looked at me.

"No, sorry. He's the alpha, he calls the shots."

"You're a hybrid, you're stronger."

"But he hasn't killed people." I said and the three of us walked in the school.

"All right, that's my face!" Stiles yells as a toilet paper hit hi. "Hey, dude, good decision, buddy. Good Alpha decision." He patted Scott on the back.

"I hope so." Scott sighs.

"No, you know so." We stopped at Stiles locker. "than I can take What are you looking at?" He asked Scott. I looked to see Scott looking at Kira.

"Me?"

"You. You looking at her?"

"Her? Who her?" Scott stutters.

"Her. Kira. You like her?" I pointed out as I leaned against the lockers,

"No. I mean Yeah, yeah, she's okay. She's new."

"So, ask her out." Stiles told him. I shook my head.

"Now?"

"Yes, now."

"You can't just ask a girl right now. You need to know her better." I addressed to Scott,

"Don't Listen to her." My mouth dropped. I punched Stiles. "Ouch. Scott, I don't think you get it yet. You're an Alpha. You're the apex predator. Everyone wants you. You're like the hot girl that every guy wants."

"The hot girl?"

"And Juliet! You are the hot boy!" I gave Stiles a really serious look.  "You are the hottest girl and boy."

"What?" Isaac said as he walked to us.

"I'm the hot girl." Scott smiles.

"Yes, you are." Issac played alone. Scott just smiled even more. The bell rang and we went to Econ.

"Son of a bitch!" Coach yells from us office. He came in the class, cranky." I smiled because it was the prank Stiles made. "Mischief Night, Devil's Night. I don't care what you call it. You little punks are evil. You think it's funny every Halloween my house gets egged? A man's house is supposed to be his castle. Mine's a frickin' omelet." Everyone laughed. Then he picks up a box. "Oh, this? We're gonna do this again? I don't think so." He slams the gift and smashes it. It broke. He picks it up and reads it, "Happy Birthday." "Love, Greenberg." I just smiled.

"Barrow is here." I heard someone say. Classes ended and I had a free period. I saw my dad and I walked up to him.

"Is Barrow actually here? Wait a minute, wait a minute! The William Barrow? The one I talked to last night? Spotted nearby?" I walked with him.

"A little closer than nearby, actually. You need to get out and go home, he might look for you since last night." He walked away since he saw the Sheriff. I was left there in hall alone.

"Barrow went after kids with glowing eyes? He said those exact words?" Isaac asked me as Allison, Stiles, Lydia, Isaac and I walked away from the crowd.

"Yeah. And no one knows how he woke up from anesthesia. Just that when they opened him up, they found a tumor full of live flies, which in any other circumstance would be all kinds of awesome." I told him.

"Did you say flies?" Lydia asked me.

"Lydia?" Allison looked at her.

"All day I've been hearing the sound of flies! It's like...this buzzing."

"Like the sound of flies?" Allison asked her.

"Exactly like the sound of flies." We all sighed. I was running around we looked for Scott.

"Sorry...Hey, dude, where the hell have you been?" Stiles slides and talks to Scott.

"The police are leaving. Why are they leaving?" I told them.

"The police?"

"They must have cleared the building and grounds, which means he's not here." Stiles admitted.

"Who? What are you guys." Scott was confused.

"He has to be here. That sound The buzzing Lydia has been hearing? I smell him, I know his smell. He's here." I blurted out.

"Smell?" Later, Stiles went to his dad and me and Scott went to our mom how picked up the gown from Barrow so the rest of the guys could smell.

"You got it?" He asked her as she handed him the gown.

"Promise me you both will be careful. I looked right in this guy's eyes, and it was terrifying." She told him.

"Yeah. Okay, Mom, I promise. Okay?"

"I promise." I told her.

"Okay." We both kissed her cheeks and left. We met with twins, Isaac and Demetri to team up to find Barrow.

"Juliet and Lydia think that he's still here even though the cops searched the whole school. But they didn't have one thing Our sense of smell." Hey started to smell the gown and we went to the basement.

"So this is how it's gonna be now? We trust them?" Demetri asked me as I sniff the rooms.

"Just because Scott is letting them help, doesn't mean We trust them." I added to him.

"Yeah, well, I don't trust them either. Or like them. In fact, I hate them and just want them to die."

"Well, if Barrow's actually here and he's got a plan, you might get what you want." I walked away from Demetri. I got a text from Stiles, still nothing. And we need to get out of the basement now. We all gathered up and ran outside as fast as we could as we heard the fire alarm.

"We didn't find anything." I told Scott as I saw him coming towards us.

"Not even a scent." Demetri added.

"It's 3:00, so school's over. If there was a bomb, wouldn't he have set it off by now?" Stiles and Lydia came and so did the twin.

"Does that mean everybody's safe?" The boys looked at me and Lydia.

"I don't know." I said

"just I don't know." Lydia stutters.
