Dear Peaceful
~~~~~~~~~ooo~~~~~~~~~
Poet's Note: One of the most common and probably most recognizable patterns in these poems, is my rather constant references to nature and the things that make up it. I just can't get it out of my head when I write. The perfect balance of beauty and power, order and chaos, peace and unrest, it's inspiring, and a perfect representation of how this world ought to be. "Dear Peaceful" shows two sides of nature, but pulls them together into the harmony of unity, while tying it back into the overwhelming tendencies of our chaotic lives and the curveballs they love to throw us. It spreads a message of how confusion and chaos cannot control us, only if we let them. We can choose to be stronger, stand taller, fight harder, to rise above the rest of this world, owning our own lives and never backing down in fear. Falling for the illusions of society will only knock us down, again and again, but when we spread our dove wings and leave our brokenness behind, we find a restful peace... even through the longest of wars.
Dear Peaceful,
Light at dawn brings no calm,
Morning songs seem a threat;
Tomorrows merged with yesterday's scars,
Rushing river sweeping across the land-
Rapids rising, smelling the fear of their prey.
Like an arrow through the dove's wing,
Broken love left in shards;
Remedy long term awaiting,
Drowned through the cracks of your heart-
No hope to cling to, as if at gunpoint you are held.
In a smoke plume, swirling fog,
No opposing force can rival;
Till chaos suffocates where you're caught,
And slim chances no longer seem trivial-
When the world around you in explosion ripped apart.
Fragments cannot re-piece together,
Anger, frustration, by failed attempt;
Feel so helpless, not like ever,
The weight sinking deeper into your head-
Burned and melted in blazes untamable.
Thought process ran wild,
Runaway train off the tracks;
Abstract theories till your mind feels senile,
In a cipher no helpline seems to crack-
Fluttering remnants drifting onto the floor.
So as you crouch there, a spectator,
Seizure inducing flashes in eyes;
Surroundings ceased as computable,
And the longer staring, more you hide-
Nightfall anticipation, appearing relief in restless sleep.
Letting black darkness consume you,
Wipe the horror from your sight;
Erase your mind of troubles you can't move,
Surrender's more peaceful than a fight-
Cause when storms brew your shining stars disappear.
Enter a universe non-existent,
As if death's equivalent to a rescue;
Falsity of doves in hell's endless prison,
Spontaneous color replaced in the darkest truth-
Clarity of black outranking undefinable light.
Confusion's always unsettling,
Can't distinguish what to feel;
A blast of emotions shattering,
Through blurred memories no longer concealed-
Replay of pain in long lost secrets exposed.
Taking in earthquakes' devastation,
Wonder how you'll ever bounce back;
Too far gone for restoration,
Unable to seal such deep stretching cracks-
Solutions swept away in the flood.
Can't wrap your mind around the destruction,
The raging war encaged it creates;
Just want to scream and cry in agony's torture,
Encompassed in this world's broken state-
Nothing to grasp as your hold slips into a fall.
Disaster upon each catastrophe,
The mouths of lions more than a phrase;
But each roar whisks you farther to oblivion's dream,
Pit of regretted failures for so long held at bay-
Natural desire sucked away with each fall out.
Buried alive in shrapnel downpouring,
More forceful, stronger, as more hurl into the ground;
Soon the walls shift into collapsing,
Muffling all the cries to no sound-
But in silence, no peace, long as the fire rains down.
With each inhale, the airhole to tighter,
Little left till it disappears;
Leaving you stranded in time ticking survival,
Shutting down as the damage turns obscure-
Counting seconds till the final strained breath.
Alone as nature itself seems to die,
Bringing all entity to a close;
The end to all goodness and light,
Peace's walked out, leaving behind a locked door-
Watching and waiting for a hopeless return.
Remaining staring forever,
But never to witness a change;
Sunrise's not a sign of the better,
Only brings you pack to the pain-
Where mere heart falls short, even as the night morphs to dawn.
But Peaceful, to where are you gazing?
Push beyond the horizon;
Despite the gore and hurt overwhelming,
Trust your own guarded protection-
Staying here you miss the destination ahead.
Each cloud over your sun drifting,
And the whirlpools tossed in the waves;
Mere roadblocks hindering your journey,
Illusions of a trap in your way-
But your eyes can fail you while your soul knows the truth.
What you see isn't all that's there,
Look for the vibration beyond;
A signal signing off on your prayer,
Peaceful, the wind carries a song-
Reminder of how your wish's already come true.
Storms don't bend to your will,
You can't hold off the tide;
Around you visuals you can't control,
But you can still find peace's light-
Hiding gleam you feel, a sparkle deep inside.
Emotions weren't meant to control,
That role was destined for you;
So you could always find a safe house,
For each injury a cure-
A peaceful haven in the eye of the storm.
Turmoil likes to catch you off guard,
Shake you till you fall to your knees;
And watch you struggle till you're too far to gone,
But Peaceful, triumph is still within your reach-
Stretch out your hand, watch it pass through the bars.
Nothing truly comes to a close,
There's always something hidden farther;
But if you don't believe, you'll never know;
Peaceful, fight a little harder-
Open your heart, set the doves free from the cage.
Shut your eyes, cut off the scene,
Turn off the horror movie you're fighting,
Listen for the music drumming in beat,
Melody to let sing, empowering-
Drowning the noise in its pounding soundwaves.
Lullaby to loll you to sleep,
Wash you back to the shore;
You get to be what you believe,
Heart and mind yours alone-
Leap into dreams and never let yourself wake.
Life can be a fantasy,
Magic of being alive!
No need to turn reckless in fearing,
Peaceful, it's time for peace to make you alright-
Flowing out wide until your world's purified.
Make doves out of the clouds,
And they'll always be there up above;
Protecting you in gaze to the ground,
Even as the skyscrapers fall-
See it, then be it, make reality bend.
Maybe you'll see different from the rest,
Peaceful, they're all jealous of you;
Cause your calm seems foreign to their mess,
Don't see the secret that you use-
How free you fly if you never touch down.
You don't have to choose to bleakness' gray,
If pulsating color's an option;
Peaceful, that's how peace will remain,
If you innermost choose to find it-
Who you are is static, always to stay.
And no amount of wounds will change that,
It's not what's outside that counts;
An overused saying, but I mean it,
You can always flip things around-
It's your life and the way to harmony you hold.
All the keys on your chain,
So which is the open door?
Peace or war is yours to claim,
And Peaceful, I know which you want more-
Step inside, paradise now awaits.
Now you're freer than you thought possible,
How come you've waited so long;
At your fingertips forever before,
Where you can finally belong-
Cause Peaceful-
Let your doves teach you to fly.
From, Rea
