Letter to me
Dear Future Me,
I’ve tried to write this letter. So. Many. Times. Whether it was for a school assignment, a time capsule, or just for random questions about flying cars, which supposedly exist. But, after lots of time spent thinking, I realized that you don't need another person in your life asking you questions you can't answer. You need somebody to remind you that you are amazing, wonderful, and wanted - No, that’s not the right word- needed. You are needed in this world. Everybody has a purpose for being here, and just because you haven't found it yet is not a reason to give up. It’s a reason to push yourself to be the best person possible so you CAN find why you’re here. Don’t let somebody set you back on the mission to find yourself. Because, no matter how long you wait for somebody to tell you exactly what you want to hear, they will never say it, and that might be because they don’t know that’s what you need.
You need to take time for yourself, read a book, get your nails done, go on a walk, dye your hair, get a makeover, and be happy. I know that sounds, well, impossible, but if you put less effort into fixing others and more effort into fixing yourself, then happiness won't seem that far off. This probably seems odd. Coming from little ol’ immature me. “ You’ve not experienced anything yet! You have no advice to give.” While that may be true, these are the words I’ve been dying for somebody to say to me. I want somebody to tell me that they love -me-, not the person I pretend to be. Given we are the same person, I assumed you needed to hear - well, read- that too.
Stop comparing yourself to others. Stop forcing yourself to reach an impossible standard of your mom’s. It’s your life. YOURS. So make it your own. Meaning, drop the act, find out who you are behind the mask I know you hide under. I’m sure you don’t know what will happen when you stop pretending to be somebody you’re not . But, I know. Everybody who matters will love you no matter what happens. If people drop you, then they are not very good friends who most likely would’ve let go eventually. Now, you might be surprised by who goes and who stays, but that is a part of life, and I know we are strong enough to handle it. Everybody knows it too. Not just me. Family, friends, everybody.
You are worth every breath you breathe and every step you take. You are as beautiful as rain. You are as caring as a mother cat and you’re smart. So, so smart! You’re going to get into a remarkable college and you’re going to write novels and books. You’re going to change the world!
So, remember. When it is dark, look for stars. And when it rains, look for rainbows.
Sincerely,
Just you <3
.
