Dynamics
"Hey, why don't we play spin the bottle?" Kirishima suggested as he repeatedly tossed his black headband up into the air then catching it when it fell. "It's simple and fun. Plus we have a lot of unused bottles lying around."
"Because we're not twelve, you fucking moron," Katsuki snapped.
With a frown, Kirishima caught his band and turned to the boy beside him. "Well, someone's feeling a bit cheery today."
Sensing the sarcastic undertones of Kirishima's statement and without budging from his position or opening his eyes, Katsuki's eyebrows furrowed even further while his scowl deepened.
(Y/n) rolled her eyes, knowing he wouldn't see it and looked back at the red-haired boy with a smile on her face. "Let's just go with Monopoly, Kirishima," the boy turned to her. "We can play spin the bottle another day. Is that okay?"
"Well," Kirishima matched her smile and crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned back into the sofa. "If you put it that way, I just can't help but want to agree with you."
"But then again," Uraraka spoke up and everyone turned to her. "Board games sound kind of boring," she held up her palm. "I mean, it's a Sunday and tomorrow is school, shouldn't we do something fun to commemorate the weekend?"
Mina pouted and picked up the Monopoly box to hug it protectively to her chest. "But what's more fun than seeing people try to kill each other over a board game?"
(Y/n) subtly sent the pink-haired girl a narrowed side-glance.
"The Awkward Question Game," Uraraka suggested with a grin and held up a finger. "We used to play it all the time back in junior high."
(Y/n) mentally cursed. She knew that game and she also knew that it never ended well. Especially for her. Murmurs of 'yeahs' and 'that's a good idea' rose up from the students sitting around the table as some nodded along to the suggestion.
"That's-" Mina began as she stared at Uraraka as if she had just invented the greatest game ever. "That's such a good idea."
"No. No. I'm not doing this," (Y/n) started, her voice attracting everyone's attention as they all turned to her. She shook her head and began to stand up. "I can't-"
Before she could fully stand up, Mina grabbed the sleeve of her hoodie and pulled her back down to sit. She then wrapped her arms around the girl's waist to keep her from escaping.
"Hey!" (Y/n) tried yanking off her arms while sending her a scalding glare. "Let me go!"
"Oh come on, (Y/n)!" Mina looked up at the girl with pleading eyes. "What's there to hide? We're all friends here, right?"
"But some of you make me uncomfortable," (Y/n) seethed through gritted teeth and quickly sent Katsuki a glance, only to find him looking more irritated than before, but with his eyes still closed. Mina must've caught on to that exchange because the corner of her lips turned up into a smug smile before she let go of (Y/n) and shrugged.
"You're overreacting. Look, if you're afraid that we'll find out something embarrassing about you, don't worry," she supported her elbow on (Y/n)'s shoulder and sent her a conspicuous wink. "We'll go easy on you."
The (e/c)-eyed girl frowned, feeling as if she was backed into a corner. She had some secrets she'd rather not have them see the light of day but then again, everyone had secrets, right? She was acting cowardly by refusing to stay around just because of a game. Even Midoriya was playing, and he was the shyest in class, after Koda, so, she had to suck it up.
Decided, (Y/n) blew out her cheeks and went to give her answer, only for Mina to beat her to it.
"You're staying," the pink-haired girl said, her tone giving no room for discussion. She then turned to the others. "Anyone against it? If you don't want to play, now's your chance to say it."
"I-I think I have some homework to do," Ojiro said as he stood up from beside Shouto. He looked nervous, probably even traumatized. "Goodnight."
He then left. Tsuyu also left without a single word other than 'goodnight'. (Y/n) was quite confused. Tsuyu seemed to be the type to like these honesty games since she was brutally honest herself. Did she have a sense of foreboding that the game would take a dark turn and was saving herself the trouble?
AND WHY WASN'T SHE ALLOWED TO GO WHEN THE OTHERS WERE?!!
Pouting at the blatant unfairness, (Y/n) looked around at the people remaining in the common area. Shouto had scooted over to the space Ojiro was occupying to make space for Iida to sit between him and Yaoyorozu. On the sofa to their right, sat Uraraka and Midoriya. Then (Y/n)'s sofa, which had Kaminari, her in the middle then Mina. On the last sofa, sat Kirishima at the edge, Katsuki in the middle, Tokoyami at the other edge and Sero on the sofa's arm.
"Any last omissions?" Mina raised a hand as she looked around the room.
Yeah. Me. (Y/n) sourly thought.
"I'm not playing. I'm merely spectating," Shouto said, although he looked like he was contemplating leaving.
"Us too," Yaoyorozu nodded while pointing back and forth between her and Iida.
"Okay," Mina said and took her elbow off (Y/n)'s shoulder to remove the two board games off the table and set them on the floor. "Now that we're nine," she clapped her hands with an excited chuckle. "Let's play!"
"I'm game," Kirishima said.
"Count me in," Kaminari said as he tucked his phone and charger into the pocket of his jacket.
"Yeah sure," (Y/n) muttered, still not one hundred percent on board but more like forty percent on board.
"Alright," Sero gave a thumb's up while Tokoyami nodded.
"Yay!" Uraraka pumped a fist in the air. "Let's do this!"
"Y-yay..." Midoriya cheered with less enthusiasm than his counterpart.
"Bakugou?" Mina called for the ash blond when she noticed that he still hadn't reacted. Everyone turned to him. (Y/n) secretly hoped he'd bail.
Katsuki let out an annoyed groan before opening his eyes and raised his head to look at Mina properly.
"Fine," he growled out. His wine-red eyes then slid over to (Y/n), making her inwardly flinch at the unexpected eye contact. "Let's get this shit over and done with."
The girl narrowed her eyes at him. He did the same.
Invisible electricity passed between them. The air was tense and filled with unspoken words. It was a declaration of war. Of truths. Both of them knew that someone would end up hurt and they each silently vowed that it wouldn't be them. After nearly two years, it was finally time to murder the elephant in the room.
"Okay!" at Mina's cheery voice, the two teenagers broke off the intense eye contact and looked at Mina. "Let's establish some ground rules first! Yaoyorozu, pen and paper please," the dark-haired girl immediately created the items and set the paper on her lap to write the rules on it.
"Rule number one: You must answer every question honestly, unless you pass that is, which is cool," the pink-haired girl held up two fingers. "Rule number two: You can only pass on a question three times during the game so use your passes wisely. Rule number three: Whatever is learned here, stays here. Rule number four: No bullying. Rule number five: Only one question per person. Unless it's a two-answer question then it's allowed. Rule breaking and you're out. Iida will be in charge of the rules so he'll be watching you," she watched as Yaoyorozu gave Iida the rules and he read them with a stern look. "So," she held her hands together in front of her as she looked around the room. "Objections? Questions?...None? Good! Let's begin!" she placed a hand on her chest. "I'll ask first. Who wants to start?"
Kaminari rose a hand in the air with a confident smirk playing on his lips.
"So brave," Midoriya commented.
"Okay Kaminari, what's the most flirtatious thing you've ever done?"
"Right off the bat, huh?" the boy rose an eyebrow. "Well, that's easy. Back in middle school, I managed to get three girls to go out on a date with me on Valentine's Day," he chuckled and smugly ran a hand through his hair. "And none of them caught on to it."
Mina gave him a flat look. "And that was an accomplishment?"
Kaminari sent her an offended look. "Hey, it was-!"
"Next!" the girl interjected and turned to the female next to her. "(Y/n)."
"Fine," his frown twisted up into a smirk as he turned his attention to (Y/n). "You have a right to be afraid, by the way."
(Y/n)'s face contracted into a grimacing smile. "Right."
The boy stroked his invisible beard as he pretended to be deep in thought. Meanwhile, (Y/n) was fervently praying in her mind that he wouldn't ask her an invading question.
When he 'finally' got his question, Kaminari snapped his fingers and pointed at the girl. "If you had a choice between going naked and having your thoughts appear in thought bubbles above your head for everyone to read," his smirk widened. "Which would you choose?"
Oh, thank fuck. "Hoo-boy. That's a...a tricky one," she awkwardly chuckled and averted her gaze to her lap. Well, being naked doesn't sound as half bad as having everyone read my thoughts. I mean, they'll have to get over seeing me naked sooner or later. Having them know I always have dirty thoughts about Izuku even during exams will be the end of me. They'll never see me as the same person again. The girl looked up and kept her face straight. "I'd rather go naked."
Most of the boys' eyebrows raised. The mental image of seeing (Y/n) walk around naked wasn't half bad. In fact, it was rather satisfying.
"Bold answer," Kaminari commented while paying her a subtle once over.
(Y/n) bit her lip and gazed downwards at the table. Having those many eyes on her at once was quite unnerving. And it didn't help that she could feel both Katsuki's and Midoriya's eyes on her too.
"Okay!" Mina said beside her. "Me next!
Shaking off her discomfort, (Y/n) turned to Mina. She smiled. She looked way too excited for someone who was about to be asked an awkward question.
"Okay, uh..." the girl paused for a while to think up a question. She didn't have any dirty ones in mind and if she did, they seemed to have done a disappearing act. So she settled for the one which is usually asked when one lacks a question. "The world ends next week and you can do anything you want, even if it's illegal. What would you do?"
Mina chuckled. "Raid all the clothing stores in Musutafu. What else? That was too easy (Y/n)!" she playfully hit the girl's arm, making her laugh. "Go hard. Like how I will right now," she turned to the redhead on the next sofa. "Kirishima!
Confidently, Kirishima nodded. "Shoot."
The sweet smile on Mina's face immediately turned evil and (Y/n) couldn't help but shudder.
"So," Mina began with a sly voice. "Would you rather have sex with (Y/n)-" said girl choked on her spit. "-in secret or not have sex with her but everyone thinks you did?"
Kirishima tensed, his composure faltering as red bloomed on his cheeks. Katsuki's eyes widened and he whipped his head towards Kirishima to hear his answer so that he'd debate on whether to kill him or to kill him.
"Oh my!" Yaoyorozu gasped scandalously with her fingers pressed to her lips and Uraraka giggled. Both Kaminari and Sero snickered while Tokoyami merely closed his eyes and sighed.
"A-Ashido?!" Midoriya covered his red face while staring at the girl with a horrified look.
"Suddenly I've decided it's worth staying," Shouto said, expression as cool as ever.
"Ashido!" Iida shot up from his seat and chopped the air in Mina's direction. "Such explicit questions are not allowed during the game!"
"Yes they are," the girl shot him a sour look. She should've made the 'no buzz-kills allowed' rule the sixth. "It's not called Awkward Question Game for no reason. Besides, you're not playing so you don't have to worry about being asked embarrassing questions, mama Iida," turning away from the dejected boy, she looked back at Kirishima with an expectant look. "So, what's your answer?"
Uncomfortable that the spotlight was back on him, Kirishima cleared his throat and straightened his back.
"That's a hard one," he nervously chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. Why was Katsuki staring at him like he wanted to murder him? His eyes shifted to the person who was being victimized in all of that and she stared back, also waiting to hear the answer. Kirishima looked away before murmuring. "The first."
(Y/n) released the breath she was holding and looked down at her lap. She slightly frowned. Why...do I feel oddly relieved?
"See?" she heard Mina say. "It wasn't so bad."
The girl raised her head to shoot Mina a 'really?' look.
"Okay bro," Kirishima turned to Katsuki, both relieved he was done with his question and that Katsuki had stopped glaring at him for some reason or the other. Either way, that was something to ponder about afterwards. "Question."
Katsuki looked so done with the game. "Spit it out already."
The sharp-toothed male smiled. He had been probably looking forward to asking him the question since they first met. "If you lost one day of your life every time you said a swear word, would you try not to-"
"Fucking pass," Katsuki cut him off before he could finish the question and turned to Tokoyami, causing Kirishima to become gloomy. "Birdhead! Your turn! What hairstyle have you always wanted but fucking can't because of your fucking head?"
Kaminari snorted and (Y/n) hit him upside the head. Though she could admit it was kinda funny.
Tokoyami silently stared at the ground for a bit while in thought before answering. "I've always wanted to try an emo swoop," Kaminari burst into laughter but everyone ignored him. "Sero."
The boy looked down at Tokoyami from his position. "Hit me with it."
"What's the last thing you searched for on your phone?"
Sero's cheeks suddenly turned pink, caught completely off-guard by the question. His eyes frantically looked everywhere else other than the faces of his judgmental classmates.
"Uh...I-I'll pass that one," he cleared his throat and turned to Uraraka. "Uraraka, your question."
"I'll join," Shouto said before Sero could question Uraraka. The boy glanced at the puzzled Sero. "Ask me."
"Hmm," Iida hummed thoughtfully as he carefully went through the rules list. "Well, it's not exactly against the rules, so I'll allow it," he looked at Shouto. "You may participate."
The bi-colored haired boy nodded and gave Sero the go-ahead.
"O-oh, okay," Sero replaced the confusion on his face with a smile. "If you were rescuing people from a burning building and you had to leave one person behind from this room, who would it be?"
"Bakugou," he replied with no hesitation and looked at the brunette on the next sofa. "Your turn, Uraraka."
Kirishima had to physically restrain Katsuki from pouncing on Shouto and throttling the life out of him while the unconcerned boy asked Uraraka her question. (Y/n) snickered. She always found Shouto's dislike for Katsuki amusing.
"Okay, next!" Uraraka said and turned to the nervous mess beside her. (Y/n) frowned when she realized she hadn't heard Uraraka's question but shrugged it off. She was quite interested in what Uraraka would ask their mutual crush.
"Your turn, Deku!"
Midoriya tensed as he put on a brave face. "Y-yes!"
"What's the biggest lie you've ever told without getting caught?"
"Oh," Midoriya's green eyes widened and they slowly fell to his hands that were on his lap. His fingers tightened into fists. "Uh, um..."
(Y/n) pressed her lips into a straight line. Oh yeah...come to think of it, I do remember this one. She sent Katsuki a glance and found him staring at Midoriya with an unreadable look on his face. On the first day of school, when Katsuki got mad at him for having a Quirk. She turned back to look at the freckled boy. Her eyes narrowed slightly. All through junior high he never displayed any signs of having a Quirk. Was it really a lie?
"I'll uh...pass," the boy said without looking up. Feeling the heavy pressure on him, he clenched his fists too tight to the point his knuckles turned white. He just wanted them to stop looking his way.
Slightly disappointed, Uraraka slowly nodded. "Oh, okay."
Midoriya took in a breath to calm himself before looking up at the next person in line.
"Kaminari?" the dirty blond sent him an acknowledging nod. "Of the people in this room, who do you most want to switch lives with and why?"
"Oh, come on," Mina whined and dramatically slouched in her seat. "I thought we agreed to ask more awkward questions."
Midoriya flinched and looked like he was just about to apologize but Kaminari held up his hand to stop him.
"It's his first try so we'll let it slide," he gently smiled. "Alright. I'd like to switch lives with Bakugou. Why? I think he's cool and his Quirk is off the charts. His personality," he made a face, earning him a glare from Katsuki. "Not so much. His looks though...I'd give that a shot," his smirked and cracked his knuckles in an attempt to show off. "Well, now that it's my turn, I can get down and dirty. Raise this game up a notch. (Y/n)."
(Y/n) made a wry face at the side before looking back at him. "Yeah?"
"When's the last time you were flat out rejected and how did you handle it?"
The girl's heart flat-lined.
She wasn't expecting that question. She curled her fingers around her middle finger and squeezed.
"Last time, huh?" she gave a dry chuckle and slid her gaze to the floor. "Seems like a long time now I think about it..."
"Uh, (Y-Y/n)," Midoriya began, his expression worried. "You don't have to answer if you-"
The female smiled at him and shook her head. "It's alright Izuku. I'm fine."
Midoriya opened his mouth to say something but he decided that it wasn't the best idea so he simply sighed and returned the smile. Only his was unsure unlike hers.
(Y/n) drew in a deep breath and turned to Kaminari. "The last time I was rejected was back in junior high and I didn't handle it so well. I had a diary full of good things and memories about the guy..." she cast her eyes to the side. "But after he said no, I ripped it up," she could feel his eyes on her. Scorching into her. Just like he scorched her feelings two years ago. It made anger spark up within her and she clenched her fists. "Along with every last feeling I had for him."
The room went silent as each regarded (Y/n) with different views. The girl's eyes darted up and instantly connected with red ones.
Katsuki stared at her from where he was, body leaning forward and supported by his elbows resting on his knees. He scowled. She frowned. He turned his head away. She felt something she hadn't felt since the rejection. The very same feeling she felt when he used those despicable means to get the flag from her two days ago.
Hurt.
After a period of silence, Mina finally spoke. "Wow, intense. Okay, my turn. Ask."
Choosing to ignore what she had just felt and have the fun she came out of her room for, she forced a smile on her face and turned to Mina. "At what age did you first start having dirty thoughts and what prompted them?"
"I'll go whip up some tea," Yaoyorozu excitedly said as she stood up from her spot to head to the kitchen.
"Hmmm," Mina tapped her finger on her chin as she thought hard. She gazed at the ceiling. "That's pretty difficult to answer because that was really long ago. When was that...?"
The game continued all round with questions ranging from embarrassing to fairly moderate. One hour and a half had already passed and they were still going at it. Laughs were shared, people were embarrassed, and some were choked for asking too personal questions (read: Kirishima and Sero). With hot tea at the ready, courtesy of Yaoyorozu, the game had become so much fun to a point that they didn't follow the line anymore. Anyone who had a question would ask. And the person to answer would then ask the person of their choice a question. They weren't technically breaking any rules by not following the order so everything was fine. Even Iida had become too invested in the game that he once nearly forgot rule number five when Uraraka asked Kirishima two questions in a row.
Overall, despite the secretive glances she'd receive from Katsuki from time to time, (Y/n) was having a lot of fun.
"Todoroki, question," Sero said. He had shifted from sitting on the sofa's arm to sit on the floor to be more comfortable. "Of all the people in this room, who would you feel most comfortable with naked?"
Shouto calmly sipped from the cup of hot tea he held in his hand before his eyes locked onto his target. "(Y/n)."
The girl made a face as she lowered her own cup of tea. "Why?"
"(Y/n)!" Iida hastily placed his cup of tea on the coffee table and chopped the air with a stiff hand. "The rules clearly state that only one question should be asked to one person before it's passed on to the next!"
"It's alright," Shouto said, his heterochromatic eyes still on (Y/n). "I don't mind answering this one. If she'd rather be naked than have her darkest thoughts be revealed then I'd rather be naked with her."
The female looked from left to right while trying to comprehend what he meant by that. When her mind drew a blank, she looked down at her cup. "Okay...that sounded...disturbing in a way..."
Ignoring her comment, Shouto turned to Uraraka. Uraraka felt unnerved by the look Shouto was giving her, even though it was the same flat one he always had on.
"Uraraka. What's the most sinful thought you've ever had about Midoriya?"
(Y/n)'s head snapped up to look at Uraraka. Kaminari and Kirishima both whistled and the latter slowly shook his head in amusement while he stirred a spoon of sugar into his tea.
"H-Huh?!" Uraraka's face turned different shades of red as she frantically looked back and forth between a frozen Midoriya and a patient Shouto. "Wha-why would you ask that?!" she nervously rubbed the back of her head. "Hahahahaha. I've never had any-why on I earth would I..."
So she does huh...well, she does like him too so it's unavoidable. The (h/c)-haired female's fingers unconsciously tightened around her cup she watched Uraraka make a mess of herself. She sighed and lowered her cup to rest it on her lap.
"You can just say pass, Uraraka," (Y/n) shot the girl a sweet smile. "You don't have to answer it."
"Pass!" the girl exclaimed a little too loudly, relieved to have been saved by her friend. "Pass that question!" she turned to Midoriya, who looked away from her with a still red face. Her face matched his in color. (Y/n) didn't even dare think they looked similar.
"Deku, what c-could you change about your, um, life!" Uraraka stuttered as she nervously wrung her fingers. "Yeah, life, if you, um, could? Haha..."
"O-Oh," Midoriya's eyes never once looked at her except in passing. "That-that's fairly easy..."
(Y/n) momentarily lost interest in listening to his answer and looked back down at the cup on her lap. She raised it up to her lips and took a sip. She pursed her lips to savor the sweet taste of warm, high-end tea, Yaoyorozu's specialty, and lightly frowned.
Midoriya and Uraraka were similar in some sense. He was cute. She was cute. Uraraka looked up to him and she was the reason why he managed to get into U.A in the first place. She'd watched some of their fights together over the months and she'd noted that they were a great team. From their first team up to the last. He thought she was strong. And she really was.
Meanwhile, all she'd ever done for Midoriya was stare at him all day and think up things that would never happen in real life. When she was placed against him in the previous exercise two days back, all she could do was run. She couldn't even face him head-on. He probably thought of her as someone who just managed to hold her own weight in their class. Nothing special.
Compared to Uraraka, she was nothing.
(Y/n) drew her bottom lip between her teeth and swallowed the painful lump in her throat. Maybe it was better for Uraraka to be with him instead.
A tap on her shoulder brought her out of her depressing train of thought and she looked up from her cup to Mina.
"Are you okay?" she asked her with a concerned look.
(Y/n) faintly smiled and nodded.
"Bakugou."
"Hah?"
The girl took another sip of her tea to regain her normal façade as she tried to banish the self-deprecating thoughts and focused back on the game.
"Who in this room would be the worst to date?" Sero asked the boy with a smirk.
Katsuki scoffed and leaned back on the sofa. "What a stupid question. That shitnerd Deku, who else?"
Kirishima slowly turned his head to Katsuki with a disbelieving look. "Bakugou...bro, do you swing that w-"
Red colored Katsuki's cheeks at what he was implying and he shot up from the sofa to bare his wrath down at Kirishima.
"He didn't fucking specify if I'm the one who fucking dates them or not!!! But generally speaking, it still boils down to Deku!" he pointed at Midoriya without looking at him. "Who'd ever want to wake up to that fucking face every fucking morning, huh?!"
Kirishima raised a brow as he stared up at Katsuki. For some reason, his mean words sounded more personal than his usual jab at Midoriya. It was more like he was questioning himself or rather, someone.
The red-haired boy opened his mouth to ask if he was alright when an unexpected voice spoke up.
"I would."
Both boys whipped their heads in the direction of the person who had said that only to pause.
Undeterred, (Y/n) stared Katsuki down with a defiant look in her eyes.
Mina's eyes darted back and forth between Katsuki and (Y/n) before a smirk appeared on her face and she squirmed in her seat while bringing her cup closer to her lips. "Oooh~ teaaaaaaaa!"
Realization of what she had blurted out and who she had blurted it out in front of dawned on (Y/n)'s face and she blushed a deep red.
"It's not that uh...I feel that w-way about him," she stuttered, her eyes looking elsewhere, especially not in Midoriya's direction. "Pssht, no. I'm-I'm generally speaking," she began sweating bullets and looked back at her classmates. She had to save herself. Immediately. "And he's a nice guy. He has good qualities for a-a-a boyfriend! S-so-" she threw a hand in Katsuki's direction. "Unlike some people that is!" Nice save...
"Wanna say that again?!!" the ash blonde took a menacing step towards her but a hand grabbed at the hem of his shirt and stopped him.
"Okay, guys, back to the game," Kirishima shot Katsuki a pointed look, who merely scoffed and plopped back down beside him. The redhead then turned to (Y/n) with a smile. "Since you have a lot to say (Y/n), why don't you ask Bakugou a question?"
Therapist much? "Okay," (Y/n) nodded, grateful that her face was starting to cool down at least. She tapped her nails on the ceramic surface of her cup as she thought up the most brutal question she could ask. An idea popped into her mind. She smirked evilly and she looked at her new victim. It was the perfect question.
"Bakugou, has a crush ever found out you liked them and turned you down?" her smirk widened as she watched him stiffen. "If so, when was this?"
Katsuki strangled on a scream as he glared her down like she was the shittiest person in the whole Solar System. Her smug mug showed that she knew very well that he had used up all his passes dodging the even more stupid questions. She was using it against him. He had been known for forfeiting truth or dare games whenever the questions got too prying and she knew that. And fuck her if she thought he'd back down that easily this time.
"Fucking fine," Katsuki said, his jaw taut and hands trembling in attempt to not explode everyone and their fucking tea off the planet. "Yes, they fucking turned me down...one fucking month ago."
Everyone's mouth fell wide open, except (Y/n)'s. Crossing her legs over each other, she daintily took a sip of her tea and sighed in satisfaction as she watched his face go from red to violent red.
"Wait," Sero turned to gape up at Katsuki. "A girl rejected you?! The guy who receives the second highest number of confessions in our class?!" pausing, he gave him a once-over before his expression turned pitiful. "Whoa man, my condolences..."
"Bro..." Kaminari placed a hand on his chest as he looked at the livid Katsuki with sympathetic eyes. "I didn't even notice you were hurting inside..."
"If you need support, we're here for you," Kirishima placed a hand on Katsuki's shoulder as he regarded him with equal sympathy as the others. "You must know, it's manly to cry so if you need a shoulder to cry on, we-"
Embarrassed and just one step away from destroying his three so-called bros, Katsuki let out a growl and smacked Kirishima's hand away from him. "I'm fucking fine, you damn pissants!! Fuck off or I'll blow your brains out!! It's her fucking loss anyway!!" He loudly scoffed and shoved his hands into his pockets. He cast his heated gaze to the side. "Tch. Can't heal the fucking blind, can I?!"
(Y/n) stared at him with an unreadable expression. Half justified and satisfied by the looks of pity he received and half offended by his last comment.
"Such fine tea," Shouto commented on the side before taking a sip of his drink.
"Indeed," Iida agreed, his eyes glued on the four boys as Yaoyorozu poured more tea into his cup from the kettle.
"Bakugou, why don't you go next?" Mina suggested after considering the atmosphere acceptable for another question.
Katsuki scoffed once more. He looked ready to fuck it all and leave but then his eyes darted to Uraraka and she visibly flinched. He glanced at (Y/n) before looking back at Uraraka.
(Y/n) gripped her half-empty cup tightly, her eyes narrowing at Katsuki after noticing the look he gave her. What on earth was he going to try next?
"Fine," he began. "Uraraka."
"Y-Yes?"
Katsuki's face turned deadly. "If the stupid idiot you like told you he liked your fucking best friend, what would you do?" (Y/n)'s eyebrows nearly shot up to her hairline. Why would he ask that?!! Katsuki noticed Uraraka hesitate and he narrowed her eyes dangerously at her. "And you got no remaining passes, so don't even think about bailing."
With these words, the brunette's shoulders sagged and she sighed in derision. She entwined her fingers together on her lap and she looked down at them. "Uh...I'll just accept it I guess."
"Bullshit!"
She quickly looked up at Katsuki with a defensive look. "It's true! She's a nice person and..." she trailed off and a sad smile appeared on her face as her eyes fell on the coffee table. "I'd want him to be happy, even if it's not with me..."
The other students stared at Uraraka in silence, all of them seeming to know who this 'boy' was. Meanwhile, Midoriya obliviously gulped down his tea, his eyes on Uraraka, well, mostly because Uraraka had a crush? Why was he not informed of that?
Oh, Uraraka...(Y/n) guiltily squeezed her lips together. I didn't know you felt that way...
She didn't know what to feel. What Uraraka felt, wasn't the same as what she felt. She glanced at Katsuki and found him staring at her through the corner of his eyes. She felt anger bubble in the pit of her stomach. Was that what he wanted her to feel? Guilt? Damn, he really was infuriating.
"Well," (Y/n) turned back to Uraraka as she chuckled off her awkwardness and clutched her hands together. "It's my turn. Deku," the boy nodded and she asked. "What was your first impression of (Y/n)?"
(Y/n)'s eyebrows drew close together, having had forgotten about Katsuki momentarily. Why would she ask such a question? Was she trying to hurt herself?
"O-oh," with a nostalgic smile, Midoriya placed his empty cup on the coffee table and leaned back into the sofa. "I met her during the first year of junior high. She used to sit in front of me so I-I got to see her every day of school. At first, I always thought she was silent and preferred to watch from the sidelines but after she defended me from Kacchan one time, I-I thought she was really cool and brave," his wide, green eyes fell on (Y/n) and her eyes widened. "She wasn't scared of him like the others. You could say, I, um, I kinda wanted to be like her. I still do."
(Y/n)'s heart skipped a beat when Midoriya smiled at her. He...still remembers that? Up to now, I had completely forgotten about it. But...that was so long ago...and at the time I still had a crush on Katsuki. The girl returned the smile. Wow...I can't believe that's what he thinks of me...he's so...wonderful...
Katsuki stared at the two for a moment with hate-filled eyes before looking away. And as the two continued to stare at each other, they were also blissfully unaware of the brunette who faintly smiled on seeing her best friend happy before sadly turning her pained eyes away from them.
"I have a question for (Y/n)."
Said girl broke off the mesmerizing eye contact turn to Shouto. Confusion crossed her face for a second.
Wait, it's my turn already? Why is Todoroki asking me? "Um, go ahead," she said before raising her cup to her lips to take a sip of her tepid tea.
Shouto stared at her blankly. "Who do you currently like?"
(Y/n) spat out tea back into her cup.
She hastily swiped her fingers over her lips and blinked. Okay, she certainly wasn't expecting that question. And why on earth would he ask that?!!
Her mouth gaped open like a fish', speechless as she stared back at Shouto. He wasn't exactly violating the rules or anything but why that question of all things?!
Her eyes then widened when she remembered something. She still had one last pass saved! She was safe!
"Pa-!"
"Hold on!" Iida placed his cup on the table and took out the rolled up rules list from the breast pocket of his sweater vest before beginning to unroll it. "You took longer than usual to have a right to pass that question! Meaning you have to answer it!"
Her forehead began sweating.
"What?! That's not a rule!" she exclaimed with squinted eyes. "I don't remember-!"
"It is!" he cut her cold again while he smoothed out the list and pointed at a hastily written sixth rule at the bottom before he began reading it out loud. "If a participant takes longer than ten seconds to pass the question, he or she is required to answer without fail! Therefore," he pushed up his glasses and they brightly glinted. "Your answer to this question is absolutely fundamental!"
"Wha-" she desperately turned to Mina for help but she too was all for listening to her reply.
Her eyes scanned the whole room and she felt her armpits dampen while her face grew extra hot. Katsuki's impatient eyes bore deep into her skull, also waiting for an answer. Uraraka patiently waited for it with a bleak expression on her face even though she already knew the answer, but that didn't make it hurt any less.
Midoriya, well, Midoriya looked really concerned for his friend.
He should be. Because unknown to him, he was about to be placed under the spotlight in T- thirty seconds for the most uncomfortable confessions recorded in Class 1-A history.
(Y/n) wanted to pull out her hair and scalp together with it.
She squirmed uncomfortably in her seat as she felt the eleven pair of eyes on her, all pressuring her to answer. The hands around her cup began feeling sweaty and she looked down at it, as if asking it for help. The brown liquid reflected her scared face back at her and it slightly helped her forget the fact that everyone was looking at her.
She felt so attacked.
"Uh, um...I uh..." she began, her throat dry and her tongue feeling like lead in her mouth. She squeezed her eyes shut. That was it. If it meant facing another rejection, then so be it. She'd survive. She did once. She could do it again. The girl licked her lips and opened her eyes. "...I like uh..."
Suddenly, she went silent. All she could hear was her racing heart and her rushing head. The room was too hot. She needed air. She needed it fast.
No. She took in a couple of therapeutic breaths to calm herself. She was fine. She was going to be fine.
After a few grueling seconds of mentally encouraging herself, she drew in a shaky, deep breath to calm her racing heart and raised her head up. If she was going to be rejected, then it was going to be with her head held up high.
Her eyes scanned the room before she swallowed.
That was it.
"I like-"
"She likes Kacchan!"
