"Sweetheart, I'm sorry, this is all I could get." Mr. Taylor said. He hands Maddie a Granola bar. He looks at her, he can't stand that her only food for the day was a single granola bar. No matter how much he works he can't afford anything else. Maddie smiles at him.
"This is lovely! Thank you so much dad!"  He smiles back. Mrs. Taylor smiles.
"You should get to bed Maddie," She kisses Maddie on the check.
"Ok mom. Good night mom, good night Dad! Love you" she says with a smile.
"Good night sweetheart! Love you!" They reply. They head out of the car to talk about who knows what. Maddie crunched on the granola bar. When she finished she took some water from the bottle and brushed her teeth. She takes out her diary and begins to write. She hears her parents argue. This never happened before. But she let's it go in hopes that everything's fine. Even the hardest days are fine for her because she has her mom and dad. Two hours later when Maddie was asleep her parents came back in the SUV and went to sleep along side her.
"Love you." Her mom whisper's in Maddie's ear. Then the all fell asleep. Their life isn't perfect but at least they have each other, Right?
