Dear Ladybug,
Ladybug...I like it. Mysterious and creative, just like you.
You can claw me, CN. I bet you're nev-purr going to guess what it means. I'll let you guess this a-meow-zing name, though. ;)
~CN
A cute, little cat face was doodled by the "CN.'" This was the next letter Marinette received after officially nicknaming herself Ladybug.
She groaned at the awful puns and had a pretty good idea what her pen pal's nickname was...but where was the fun in it if she were correct?
A sly smirk appeared on the girl's lips as she dug out a notebook from her bag and ripped out a new, clean sheet of paper. She put their first letter in her bag and wrote on the new sheet with the notebook as her table.
Dear Charming Nimrod,
I hope I guessed your nickname right. It would be a shame if I were wrong, the name suites you. Although, I for one wouldn't use this "amazing" and "charming" nickname. It wouldn't suite me as well...unlike you anyways.
~Ladybug
P.S.: That is revenge for those awful cat puns.
"That should do it," Marinette finished with a picture of a ladybug next to her nickname. For a moment, her eyes scanned the paper and wondered if she went too far with the teasing.
Shrugging off the feeling, Marinette folded the paper and placed it in the jar. She put the notebook back into her bag and took out the first conversation between the two of them.
A small smile graced Marinette's lips as she stood and walked home with the letter in hand the whole way back. This was a new beginning, and she was thrilled to say the least.

Marinette held the very first letter from her pen pal. Reading the conversation helped sooth the inner turmoil within herself like when the two first started to learn about each other. She was so unsure about it until getting to know him better.
Their likes and dislikes, weekly stories, and even vent about a certain bad day. The conversations helped with getting rid of stress.
Chat Noir was practically her best guy friend. Marinette knew the writer was a guy, possibly around her age. Luka was the closest person to being Chat Noir, who has a similar personality to the bluenette's crush. The facts were there, screaming in her face at how obvious it was.
Chat and Luka both play instruments, are really sweet, love macaroons, favorite color is green, and so much more. The details were as clear as day and the evidence was so similar, a blind person could see it perfectly.
Marinette folded the paper and placed it back in her diary. She never told anyone about her pen pal (not even Alya). It seemed safer that way, in case Chat wasn't Luka. Yet, Marinette knew that her long-time crush had to indeed be her pen pal (even with horrible puns and all).
"MARINETTE!" a little voice shrieked, bursting into the room. Marinette jumped in fright, out of her seat and onto the wooden floor. She groaned in pain and rubbed the side of her temple. The teen sat up as a small girl excitedly ran over.
"Tikki, how many times do I have to tell you to knock before you enter?" Marinette scolded the seven-year-old. Tikki sheepishly apologized before giving her older cousin a hug. Marinette returned the hug with a slight smile spreading across her lips.
Marinette's cousin, Tikki and Aunt Celine are staying for a month so that the two weren't alone in Italy. Her uncle died in a car accident many years ago so the two families liked to celebrate in his memory by hanging out for a whole month.
The small redhead jumped back from the embrace with a giant smile.
"Guess what? Mommy taught me how to curse!" Tikki enthusiastically chirped with glimmering blue eyes. Marinette's eyes widen in confusion and concern before hearing a knock. The teen's attention turned towards the open trap door to see an older version of Tikki but with bright green eyes.
"Cursive," the woman corrected Tikki, walking up the rest of the steps into the room. The redheaded child giggled before running off to find Marinette's hand-stitched dolls.
"Hi, Aunt Celine," Marinette greeted, standing up.
"Did you hear the news?" Celine asked, worry wrinkling her features. Marinette knew her aunt was very similar to Alya in some ways like reading about the latest gossip or news stories. Celine was very mature and caring for her young age. Though, she would tease and act like a four-year-old.
"Yeah, I'm a bit bummed out," Marinette replied, more than just "a bit bummed out." She was devastated with her hero turning out to be a criminal locked behind bars and no usual Friday response from Chat Noir. Today was not Marinette's day and could only mourn over it all.
"Relax, kiddo," Celine said, patting Marinette's back. "I'm sure things will get better. You'll see! Like I always say-"
"-you know you survived the toughest tsunamis once you see the rainbow at the end," the bluenette quoted her aunt who smiled proudly.
"That's my niece!" Celine giggled, head-locking Marinette and giving the teen a noogie. Marinette fought out of her aunt's hold before Tikki came out of no where, jumping onto the helpless girl's back.
"Tikki," Celine sternly eyed the seven-year-old, who crawled off her cousin and apologized. Marinette reassured the two that she was alright. Then, her phone alerted her of a new message that was sent.
Tikki grabbed the dolls she left on the floor and let her mother pick her up. Celine carried Tikki out of the room and back downstair's to go talk with Marinette's parents.
The teen checked her phone after the two left to see two notifications. One was from Alya's Gossip Girl blog. Marinette knew it was probably the story on Gabriel Agreste and swiped the notification away.
The other notification was from Silly Social Phrase, or SSP for short. It's an app where people put an update on their lives with silly phrases.
Lila had updated her status from "Single and ready to mingle" to "Sorry, I'm taken. Not sorry, for any hearts that I'm break'n." Above those words was a selfie of her with puckered lips and a pink, sparkly filter with hearts. There was no one else or anything in general in the picture to prove she was actually dating anyone.
That was Lila though, the school's biggest liar. Yet, she was always a step ahead and knew just what to say flawlessly. Her lies were as smooth as butter and everyone trusted her, thinking she was an amazing person.
Marinette was smarter than that. She knew Lila lied from one little flaw that the sly fox showed once that no one else noticed, nor questioned. Somehow, Lila flawlessly lied her way out of that situation, then later threatened Marinette when they were alone for almost exposing her.
They've been enemies ever since.
"Marinette! Dinner time!" Marinette heard her mother call from downstairs. The designer shut her phone off, not caring about Lila's social lie-fe. She snorted and thought of telling Chat that pun in her next letter...if he ever replied back that is.
The same wave of worry washed over Marinette for a moment before shaking the unnerving feeling from not getting a reply. Luka had a life outside of their message exchanges. She had to remind herself of that. He will reply some other time. Right now, an amazing and mouthwatering smell was coming from downstairs.
Marinette could worry about boys later and spend time with her parents, aunt and cousin. She treaded down the stairs with a lingering feeling of change. Something big was going to happen but wasn't sure what it was which left her more unnerved.
